Our family of four stayed at one of the Beach-front cottages. The accommodation was comfortable, beautiful, private and nice and quiet. The layout of the cottage was well thought out and the decor was really lovely. We had everything that we needed. The grounds are so well kept, loved the natural surroundings and staff were really friendly. Loved the location, easy walk to the bay, beaches and short drive to the wharf and restaurants. A new family favorite destination, we def will be back. Highly recommend!

Flaxmill Bay campground is the best place we have ever stayed at in our motorhome since we bought it 5 years ago. Its like being in a botanic garden the grounds are so beautifully kept. The birdlife is awesome with Tui's, friendly Fantail's & then gorgeous Quail coming out to feed at dusk. The kitchen & showers are spotless & the management & staff are very friendly. A lovely beach across the road & hardly a soul on it. And a 15 minute walk to the ferry to go into Whitianga for a coffee or beer. It was our 3rd stay & we will definitely be back.

We are delighted to hear Flaxmill Bay is the best campground you have stayed at in the past five years! You are so right, it does feel like camping in the botanic gardens. We are happy to hear you had peaceful stay and look forward to seeing you again.

Look no further! Everything at Flaxmill Accommodation and Venue was incredibly lovely - the staff, the location, the accommodation, everything. We especially loved how each accommodation has plenty of it's own space. We felt like everything was 5 star "hotel" but with Air B&B vibes in that our family had an entire lawn, BBQ, and porch of our own. We were able to completely relax feeling like the only guests on the property, even though many others were staying. We enjoyed walking next door for coffee in the morning and then to the beach across the street - a 5 minute journey altogether. It also felt like a very safe environment for our toddler to run around and the 3 bedroom house we stayed in was perfect for us with all the practical things like leather couches, a dishwasher, and a highchair. Lastly, we love how the owners are using this as a ministry to serve others. If you're part of a non-profit organization, be sure to ask them about this. May the Lord continue to bless this organization as they bless those who stay with them.

Thank you for your incredible review - it made our day! We love your description of a 5 star hotel with Air B&B vibes - as our holiday houses and surrounding grounds are designed for optimum relaxation! Thank you for mentioning our non-profit programme. As part of its philanthropic activities, Big Toe Foundation supports those who support others. We do this by providing reduced rates at certain times of the year, to approved groups that are doing ‘good work' - – charities, churches, non-profits or social enterprises. Our guests who stay at Flaxmill in summer help us give back to NZ's not-for-profit. sector. So once again, thank you for your lovely words and we hope to see you again at Flaxmill.

This is our second stay at Flaxmill this year. We absolutely love this spot, staying in the 3 bedroom accessible cottage both times. The cottage is perfectly set up for wheelchair users. The cottage has everything you need, is incredibly clean, and the entire complex is immaculate. The staff here are absolutely fantastic, so friendly and accommodating. We are already planning our third visit. Its the perfect place to relax and enjoy the amazing Coromandel Peninsula.

We stayed in the Cathedral cottage which is specifically designed for use with someone who uses a wheelchair. Flat access from the parking place, a level roll in shower in the main bathroom, and the gas fire keeps the whole cottage nice and warm. Just two of us this time, but sleeps 6. We came with our two granddaughters a while ago. A couple of minor issues that were resolved quickly. Normally ferry to Whitianga is accessible, but this time a smaller inaccessible one was being used so we had to drive round. Main one under service for a week. A few good books on the shelf on wet days!

After a couple if weather delays getting there we arrived and setup at this stunning campsite. The gardens are lush and facilities immaculate. The staff are so so accommodating. Our site was too wet to park on so we were given other site options and finally put on an awesome spot close to the bathrooms for the kids and in a quiet corner that was good with our day sleeping toddler. It's not a cheap stay but the whole park is very well kept. Facilities are spotlessly clean and you even get your own personal rubbish bin per site.
