We were looking to extend our stay on the Coromandel by one night and needed a place. I rang in the morning and the lady on the phone was very friendly and helpful. Luckily we were able to book the 3 person cabin which was great for the 3 (husband, son and myself) of us. When we arrived my husband and I both wondered if this was the right place because it looked too nice. To our surprise we were in the right spot. The grounds are just gorgeous, big trees, fancy landscaping - it felt like staying in the Botanical gardens.

The cabin was small but fine for a night, maybe two. We appreciated the clean bedding, towels and basic utensils. The only issue we found is that it was really hot at night to sleep (Summertime) and you couldn’t open the windows or you’d be attacked by mosquitoes. A fan in the room would be good.

The communal kitchen was great - no equipment to use though so bring your own. Hot water always available, clean microwave and great gas stove. The Bbq was perfect for cooking bacon in the morning. Shower block was reasonably clean - although you have to pay $2 for a hot shower which we weren’t aware of and I thought this should be included in price of the stay.

The beach across the road in beautiful and safe for kids. It’s sheltered from the wind too and has a pontoon for the kids to jump off. Great walks around there and next time we stay we’re going to catch the ferry to Whitianga.

Would definitely recommend this lovely spot, it a gem!

Thank you for your kind feedback. We are very happy to hear you found us friendly and helpful. Yes the grounds are gorgeous and we love your description that it was like staying in the Botanical Gardens. We are glad we were able to find a last minute booking in our explorer cabin, which is ideal for short stays. We hope can come back and try our self contained cottages or houses in the future too for a few more creature comforts. Thanks again for your suggestions and feedback and recommending us as a lovely spot. All the best.

We stayed in the "Cathedral" house which is one of two wheelchair friendly places with roll in shower and spacious rooms. Sleeps 6 but we only had four of us including 2 mokopuna. Wonderfully presented, modern, with wi-fi and great gardens. A quiet oasis away from bustling Whitianga which is accessible by passenger ferry. Highly recommended.

We stayed in early June (start of winter) and these modern, spacious houses at Flaxmill kept us warm. staff are very helpful. We have a 1 year old and that was all good.
Flaxmill is also right across from the beach and only 1km from the ferry to Whitianga, which is a great experience in itself. It's also only 2mins drive from Cook's Beach and 10 mins from Hot Water Beach, Haahei, and the start of the walk to Cathedral Cove. So many highlights in one place! Highly recommended.

We stayed in the Cathedral Garden View House. The house had everything and more than we needed for a relaxing getaway from our busy Auckland lives. The house was spotless and very modern, had all the kitchenware that one would need when cooking and we had crisp fresh linen and towels. The garden is beautiful and we loved playing frisbee on the grass area - the grass is so lush and beautiful! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We recently stayed here for 3 nights. When we arrived we were made welcome by the owners, who also explained a bit about the area. We had booked a small cottage which had a lounge/kitchen/diner and a separate bedroom. Everything looked newly renovated and was very well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was amazing for such a small place. I would thoroughly recommend it for exploring the area.

A really great place to stay. Cottages and houses are well presented, clean and privately nestled within the well kept grounds with a one minutes drive to Cooks Beach or to the ferry across to Whitianga it's a perfect holiday base. A great place to stay and have a wedding reception with everything on the doorstep. Highly recommend.

Not far from Auckland. A warm welcome to great accommodation where the surroundings are so peaceful with the birds singing. Just a short walk or a climb over the hill or along the beach when tide is out to ferry for Whitianga. Or other direction to some more lovely beaches and scenic lookouts.

Flaxmill provided a wonderful place to set up our campervan. All sections are grassed and the established trees, provide not only shade but beauty as well. The camp sites are generously sized. The facilities were pristine and the location very handy. The only niggle might be (although this didn't effect us) that there may be be slightly too few toilets and showers in high season. The staff are helpful and friendly too. Can't wait to come back again. Thanks for a fabulous weekend.

We stayed in a lovely one bedroom cottage. It was very well equipped, comfortable and really well presented. It was very private with beautifully maintained gardens, we had the use of a barbecue and picnic table in the garden. The staff were great and very friendly. There is a pretty beach right at the end of the drive, very safe for young children. We will be booking a return trip very soon.

We stayed in the Cathedral cottage which is specifically designed for use with someone who uses a wheelchair. Flat access from the parking place, a level roll in shower in the main bathroom, and the gas fire keeps the whole cottage nice and warm. Just two of us this time, but sleeps 6. We came with our two granddaughters a while ago. A couple of minor issues that were resolved quickly. Normally ferry to Whitianga is accessible, but this time a smaller inaccessible one was being used so we had to drive round. Main one under service for a week. A few good books on the shelf on wet days!
