Flaxmill campsite is a small but beautiful place with spotless facilities and a friendly relaxed atmosphere. The cabins on site looked lovely too. The site is just across the road from the beach and really close to many more Coromandel beaches. The ferry to Whitianga is just up the road.

We stayed in our caravan and tent for 5 nights. Beautiful surroundings and very clean. However if you want to "relax and recharge" I suggest you don't stay on site 30 as its right next to the event centre and where kids tended to congregate. There is no dedicated play area for the kids so all the cycling and playing happened in this vicinity. Persistent bike skids on the Gravel at 7.30am in the morning within one foot of us sleeping in our tent wasn't condusive to a restful experience, consequently 2 of our group left a day early. Its a shame the parents don't pitch their camps near where their kids are playing. I'm not just taking about a few kids, this is up to a group of 12 boys on bikes. Hopefully it's much quiter off season.

Thank you for your kind words about our beautiful surroundings and cleanliness. We aim to provide a relaxing atmosphere for friends and families, even in the busy summer season, as we have less people and more space in our boutique holiday park. We are sorry to hear on this occasion you did not find it as relaxing and recharging as normal. Yes you are correct, it is quieter in the off season and we hope you can come back then for a peaceful getaway. Thanks very much for taking the time to share your feedback.

A wonderful place to come, especially if you are looking for wheelchair accessible facilities. The resident population of the area is growing and they have a couple of very pleasant restaurants near by. Try "The Hive" and "Kaizen El Vino". Eggsentric as quirky as ever with great coffee. Passenger ferry to Whitianga easy to get on with my electric wheelchair. We spent a fascinating couple of hours overlooking Maramaratotara Bay where dotterels were nesting. We saw where one nest was by observing the parents on egg sitting duty changing over, but once on it they were virtually invisible. Hope they fledge OK. Quiet but really relaxing, with a much needed change of scene. Only us there for most of the time.

We recently took our 5th wheeler to Flaxmill for a few days R&R. What a fantastic spot. Grounds are perfectly manicured, facilities immaculate and management/staff so friendly. We had a great break and since this is fairly local to us we will definitely be regular visitors.
