We had some beautiful days at the Oyster River B&B in Cooks Beach with the super-friendly host Sue Warren. Relaxed, helpful, interested and giving opportunities for trips in the area. The B&B is in the center for visit's to the Hot Water Beach, Cathedral's Cove, Cooks Beach and nice walking tracks.

We loved this B&B. The grounds were beautiful with a cascading stream running through the spacious garden and manicured lawns to collect in a natural pool suitable for a cooling dip. It was so peaceful yet close to Cooks Beach and the ferry to Whitianga. Our continental breakfast, complete with tablecloth was delivered to our spacious fully equiped self-contained unit. We were sooo appreciative of Susan's assistance when one of us became I'll. I would definitely recommend a stay at Oyster River B &B.

This place had absolutely everything you need for a wonderful relaxing getaway. Peace, birdsong, heavenly gardens, comfort, coziness.
The full kitchen was kitted out with the basic necessities so you could cater for yourself if you didn’t want to go out.
Bed was very comfortable and we both slept exceptionally well.
I loved the deep, old-fashioned claw foot bath. And the thoughtful extras like bath salts and a candle made the soaking extra special.
Only basic TV (3 channels) but it was nice not to have it on and enjoy the peace instead.

Such a nice place! We were welcomed warmly by Sue who, during our stay, spoiled us with lots of fresh fruit. My wife particularly liked the figs from their own tree. We stayed here for the last three nights (except for one night Auckland) of our 7 week NZ trip. We could not have wished for a better place. Coromandel is really beautiful and this is a very good location for exploring it. Recommendations: dining at Go Vino in Cooks Beach and Sea Kayaking from Hahei to the Cathedral Coves.

Good morning Leon and Christal. It was lovely to have you both stay and to share your 'adventurous spirit' in the Land of the Long White Cloud. Thank you for your warm words about our Retreat, and recommendations for local dining and sea adventures, for future travellers. I look foward to your return to our shores. Enjoy your last day in Auckland. Safe travels. Sue.

We spent three lovely days at Sue's place in Cooks Beach. Great apartment, wonderful garden and Sue was the perfect host - booked activities and tables at restaurants for us and gave great advice on Auckland and the Volvo Ocean Race. I can only highly recommend the Oyster River Retreat.

This is an absolute lovely place - an obvious choice to either relax in Sue's beautiful garden with the most spectacular view or visit many of the Coromandel 'must does' that are all located really near by. On top of that Sue is an absolute wonderful host. She is really welcoming, thoughtful and helpful, and she does so many small things that just make you feel right at home. This sure is one of Coromandels hidden gems!

The time at Oyster River Bed and Breakfast was just great. I had some wonderful days in the area all well as in Sue´s park [she calls it garden ;-)].
If you are looking for a peaceful place to relax, this is where you should stay.
Although I travelled on my own, I wasn´t lonely. Sue made me feel welcome and was one the nicest host on my journey. When you are lucky she has made some homemade Limoncello. Just asked her :-)

Located in prime position to explore hot water beach and cathedral cove (room even came with a spade!) Sue (the host) gave us some insider tips of less touristy spots to visit too which we made use of on our second day.
Sue made us feel welcome and provided a lovely breakfast hamper, including fruits from her vast garden. She even took us on a tour of the grounds! The room itself was perfect for our needs (except the lack of wifi for my parents!) and Sue was very accommodating and allowed an extra bed for myself. Proper kitchen so we were able to cook dinner one night.
Highly recommend this spot for both location and friendly host. We wished we could stay longer.
