Detailed Reviews

We booked two tent sites and found they were in outstanding condition for this time of year. They were very clean, very flat, had a good dense cover of grass and, just as importantly, there were not loose clippings on the lawn to be trod into our tents.
We booked next to the stream and were worried about mosquitoes and rats, but did not find any such issues. We also found there were hardly any seagulls around, which is important if you don’t want to be woken early, harassed during the day or worried about your food. We always take precautions and keep our camp clean and all food stored away so as not to encourage pests.
We did find that on the private land over the stream there was some kind of camping with fireworks and dogs and noisy conversation late into the night, and this continued each night with no noise control. This may be an ongoing issue for anyone camping in this area, but it was generally OK from about midnight or so until 7am.
The facilities are excellent, though the showers run with a push-button for a few seconds each time, so it takes a lot longer to have a shower. The swimming pool and spa area are great to unwind, especially as the beach is some distance away.
The drinking water is delicious as advertised. The hoses also seem to take standard fittings, rather than the larger ones.
It seemed odd that the store had so little stock and did not sell ice, so we had to go into the main street for supplies. This is close enough and has a great place to dine, Vessell, but it shuts at 9pm which was a shame. This is a dairy, liquor store and another restaurant all side-by-side.

This is our second visit to Cooks Beach and it won’t be the last. Large flat sites, great, modern bathroom and kitchen amenities which are kept spotlessly clean, and for us boaties an excellent boat-washing and fish filleting area (complete with bait freezer). Every site has power and water to it and they have their own bore and water filtration plant so the water is drinkable from every tap. The pool and spa (also immaculately clean) are a bonus. Location is great - 5 minutes walk to well-stocked store and liquor store and a couple of good restaurants. A couple more minutes walk to beautiful Cooks Beach. This campsite rates up there with the very best of them.

We booked a cabin for a week to celebrate our wedding anniversary and explore the Coromandel. When we arrived the owner had upgraded us to one of the Chalets.
The grounds and chalet are very well kept and clean, the service is very friendly and the owner made a few suggestions on places to visit and explore which we were grateful for.
As we visited in the off season it was pleasantly quiet. We will definitely be back and recommend anyone considering visiting the Coromandel that they book in here and stay.

We love this location and have come here regularly in summer. However, traveling off-peak our experience was much different.
Sharing 2 toilets for 8+ different groups was a little light. When we enquired about opening up the main toilet block, we were told this was not possible.
When enough people finally complained - they opened it reluctantly and shut off the other two toilets/showers. However, there was no hot water. This was after telling them a number of times we had no hot water.
We have stayed at heaps of Top 10's and other quality camping grounds, but this time for our stay we felt like we were a burden to be there. (We are supporting local in COVID times!)

My partner and I stayed here for what ended up being 5 nights (after initially planning to stay for just 1!) and cannot express how much we loved it here! The location is so perfect, 10 minutes drive from Hahei, 15 from Hot Water Beach, a short walk from the local store and couple of bar/restaurants, and even the beautiful and peaceful beach! The pool and hot spa pool were absolutely fantastic and so clean we barely wanted to leave the resort. Unbelievable for us, this place was also the cheapest campsite we'd stayed at in the Coromandel and by far the nicest, you get such good value for money here! Cannot recommend this place enough especially if like us you're staying in your van but looking to properly relax for a while. Awesome!

Pricing + deposit inconsistency across website, pre-event and in-person when challenged (across a six family group booking) at Easter weekend.
Willing only to blame a subordinate staff member (with no voice)
At no point was willing to satisfy the group of customers with any sort of olive branch, despite already willing to book for 2022.
Whilst a great facility for the 20 people in the group we were left with a bad taste in our mouth from the customer facing experience.
Leaves us questioning our 2022 plans

Wow - we’ve just spent 2 weeks at Cooks Beach Resort and once again had a fantastic holiday. This was despite Cyclone Gabrielle arriving right in the middle of our holiday. Luton, the camp owner, moved us in to a chalet for 3 nights, at his expense, just to make sure we were safe. There are so many things to do in and around Cooks Beach; swimming at quite a few different beaches, great walks, fishing, boating, biking, lovely places to eat out and we did them all! We’ve already booked for next year and can’t wait to be back there. Thanks heaps Luton 👍

Amazing resort! very friendly and clean facilities! Would give it a 5 star apart from one of the employees water blasting the rubbish bins and dirty mats next to our clean washing and duvet inner on the washing line. We picked up our washing and advised him it was a bit inconsiderate when the resort was pretty much empty with so many other places to spray the bins and he just disregarded it and continued his job. We advised the manager at the front desk who was kind enough to offer us a free washing load to put it back through but we were already ready to leave. Thank you for the good stay and we appreciate you having a word with said employee regards to common sense. We would recommend this place and stay again.

We don't travel very often but when we do we expect the best. At Cooks Beach resort we had a wonderful time, the receptionist serve us with a smile, we book a self contain cabin that sleep 8 people and a small cabin that sleep two. The room was spacious for me and my family. We didn't spend much time at the cabin but when we do, it almost feel like home. The accomodation was clean inside and outside, the pool was great for my grown boys, it was a walking distance to the beach. Wow! talk about the beach what a beauty, it almost look like the Cook Island white sandy beach. We had a lovely time there. I would recommend going to Cooks beach resort to everyone I know to go there.
