Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked through the website on Thursday for the weekend (2 nights), indicated on the booking that we would be late as one of us is working late that night (Friday), so all of our bases were covered and nothing was non-disclosed… then on the way to Cooks beech we get a phone call (8pm while ordering dinner in Tairua) so not far away and knew we had said something, however the Manager rang with ranting and raving on about their office was closed at 6pm (so why was he ringing @8pm???) telling us things like “your payment hasn’t gone through so we don’t normally keep the booking” (but never said that he is keeping or stopping our booking which was confusing), “I have tried 3 times during the day and payment hasn’t gone through” (why didn’t you ring after the second time you tried and during normal day hours if it was an issue???) Very sharp and rude about the whole thing. We said we can sort it out in the morning… we were only 30 minutes away, There was no information to say what room/cabin we could be in or if he was going to be around, or how we could find our room…. This Is Not Hospitality in any way, shape, or form, as I have worked in this industry for years. Clearly the other reviews now a have some merit over them and not by the responses from the manager. We got to the “Resort” and everything was closed (which was expected as it was around 8:40pm), with a notice on the door “for duty manager see website… this is misleading because there was nothing on the website for after hours and ringing the normal number was never answered. Before we choose to drive in to have a look around, I decided to have another look around the office, lucky I did as on the far side of the door was 2 folded maps, both with names and one was ours (if you told us on the phone, we would have known “dumby”) Found our cabin, noticed we had been moved to a different part of the grounds (Re: pic) without consultation but even worse, we were moved next to a worker who was living onsite, so now we don’t feel trusted. We used facilities and noticed a few things needed fixing, hence the photos. And when we finally climbed into bed, the load tent of alcoholics got louder and louder until about 12am. The next morning, we went to pay and was welcomed in with a smile by a wonderful Mexican worker, who knew how to meet and great, clearly the manager needs to learn a few things from this young lady. While trying to pay, we had a few problems with our kiwibank card. And she said to us “oh yeah, this is a new terminal and we have been having problems with it since we have got it”. So Manager question to you, could our Abusive unprofessional phone call just be because “your technology” hasn’t been working right????? We didn’t want to pay the extra fee for PayWave but because the card was not reading after about 20 different tries (technical issues), we had to pay the extra $5.25 paywave fee. Again the young lady was at least apologetic about it. There is more but i have reached character limit.... in conclusion, manager bad, grounds need work and our weekend ruined before it even started. Hospitality needs work. Owner needs to kick manager up the ***!!

Luton, the manager, was very helpful and kind from the moment I arrived. So close to many local attractions including the beach. Shakespeare point and the campsite has a pool and hot tub. I will definitely return.

Big amazing campground with free hot tub, pool and wifi. Very friendly and flexible reception. We had a powered site with a free wood terrace for 2 nights. Kitchen and bathrooms are clean and not far away. One of our favorite holiday parks in NZ.

Very clean and organized. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Hot pools in a very good temperature. Need to press the shower button a few times to have hot water. Hair dryer available. Duvet and shower towel available for rent. If you want to buy drinking water, there is cheaper than at the shop in town.

In my camper trip around New Zealand, we went to Cooks Beach Resort< Coromandel Penisula.. This is the best camping so far. Clean, with swimming pools, beautiful bathrooms close to the beach, surrounded by small chalets for the less driven. Great access to cruise boats in Cook Bay and Mercury Bay. I would highly recommend.

One of the best Holiday Parks we’ve ever been to, definitely the best along the East Coast of the Coromandel we reckon! Luton and the team have really got it down here. Beautifully clean, immaculate grounds and fantastic facilities. Great base to head to Hahei and Cathedrol Cove and just quick walk to Cooks Beach! Loved it! @saltyskin

Wow - we’ve just spent 2 weeks at Cooks Beach Resort and once again had a fantastic holiday. This was despite Cyclone Gabrielle arriving right in the middle of our holiday. Luton, the camp owner, moved us in to a chalet for 3 nights, at his expense, just to make sure we were safe. There are so many things to do in and around Cooks Beach; swimming at quite a few different beaches, great walks, fishing, boating, biking, lovely places to eat out and we did them all! We’ve already booked for next year and can’t wait to be back there. Thanks heaps Luton 👍

We stayed in a chalet, was excellent and surprisingly modern, loverly people, great pool with room for all even with it busy, beaches very close. Only bad comment would be the pools coating could do with recoating but given the last 2 years of zero income no surprise and I'm sure they are onto it.

We booked a cabin for a week to celebrate our wedding anniversary and explore the Coromandel. When we arrived the owner had upgraded us to one of the Chalets. The grounds and chalet are very well kept and clean, the service is very friendly and the owner made a few suggestions on places to visit and explore which we were grateful for. As we visited in the off season it was pleasantly quiet. We will definitely be back and recommend anyone considering visiting the Coromandel that they book in here and stay.
