Fabulous location in the hills overlooking Cooks Beach. We were in the Bosun suite which was large and very comfortable - Nespresso machine much appreciated. Breakfast lovely and eaten sitting outside on the verandah. Tom our host very helpful - had spades for going to hot water beach. Tip, aim to get there about 2hours 30mins ahead of low tide so you have pick of places to dig, gets crowded later even when as we did outside school holisays

Fantastic and spotlessly clean accommodation with amazing views. Jo organised our booking for a lovely lunch and wine tasting at the winery next door. Tom greeted us on arrival and answered our questions about the local area. A breakfast with a wide choice was prepared and served by Tom and his dad John. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay and can’t recommend Mercury Ridge highly enough.

I was travelling with family and we stayed in the East Wing and adjacent Lodge Suite. This gave us our own separate 2 bedroom apartment, with a separate entrance. The kitchenette in the East Wing was well appointed, and Tom graciously offered us the use of additional equipment from the Lodge's main kitchen if we needed it. On arrival, we were met with a wonderful Charcuterie Board & a welcome glass of wine after a long drive down from North of Auckland (SH25A was still closed at this point). Tom's breakfasts were great. All the produce was fresh and cooked to order. The views over Cooks Beach were amazing. Toms's local knowledge was invaluable for advising us on where to go and what to do. I cannot recommend Mercury Ridge highly enough for a luxurious stay in the Coromandel.

My wife and I have been on a 5 week tour of NZ and our recent stay at Mercury Ridge wull be remembered as an experience of the highest calibre. The B & B, if it can be called that, has been decorated magnificently. No stone has been left unturned in providing an exceptional experience. From the moment we arrived, we were bowled over by every aspect of the property. This is an outstanding property with magnificent views over the bay. The room itself was very tastefully decorated including a free standing bath. Tom was a magnificent host. On arrival, we were greeted with a wine and cheese platter, the mini bar was on a complimentary basis and was topped up daily, breakfasts were of the highest quality and Tom was always available to help book trips or advise on what to do. Thank you Tom for making our stay as one of our highlights of our trip

Arriving onto the property we were pleasantly surprised by not only the great location but the amazing property itself. It overlooks Cooks Beach, beside a boutique winery and a short walk to the best beach in the area. We had the top floor master suite that had complete privacy and expansive windows and deck overlooking the bay. The bed was very comfortable and the small touches like beach towels and complimentary mini bar was a great added touch. Tom our host made us feel welcome and comfortable as we enjoyed the use of the whole homestead - he can also whip up a very delish breakfast. We would highly recommend a getaway here.

A great place with a fantastic view over the bay and surroundings. And Rick, the owner and host, is the best host you can think of. Only a few rooms make this feeling you are visiting his home, and a nice breakfast is also served each day. They even served us a great Christmas dinner which we ate together with Rick and his son. A great stay we always will remember

Cooks Gate is a stunning house in a magnificent location above Cooks Beach. The views are spectacular, the rooms are comfortable (we were in the smallest of the four available and it was lovely), and the breakfast was delicious. Rick, the host, is charming and all of his suggestions of things to do were spot on - he even booked them for us! The whole house can be booked - it would be an amazing venue for a family reunion!

We stayed here with a group of friends last weekend - and what a fantastic time we had. Cooks Gate lodge has everything going for it - stunning views, winery next door, amazing sleeping areas, awesome open fire, great Gourmet BBQ outside, Pizza oven, huge entertaining area and super sized kitchen and storage for everything you can imagine. I would not hesitate to recommend this place as a perfect place to meet with a group of friends, or family get togethers. The owners were very accommodating and nothing was a problem for them the whole time we were there. We will be back to stay that's for sure!

What a stunning place to stay. I honestly thought id arrived at the wrong place to begin with. The long winding road to the place made it feel so secluded. We arrived to find a lovely note from Rick telling us the details of the place, and our key was in the door to the room. The room itself was huge and the rest of the property you share with the other guests. In the morning we met Rick and his helper Holly, who served us breakfast and Rick took a genuine interest in us and what our plans were. He recommend a fantastic rib boat tour of Mercury bay, and lent us a spade for hot water beach. he couldnt have been nicer. The room also had courtesy wine and chocolate. The vineyard next door is great for food, and then come back to Cooks Gate to enjoy the view and some wine. I would come here again and again if i could. You wont be disappointed staying here
