Straight across the road from Parakai Pools but you needn't stray that far when you have your own private courtyard with hot tub! We were looking for a couple of nights of total relaxation and this was perfect for just that.

The motel itself is older and the rooms are showing wear and tear. Facilities are basic. Having said that we had everything we needed and couldn't fault the cleanliness of our unit. The visiting cat was a bonus for a couple of animal lovers!

We would definitely return for the opportunity to soak away our worries some more.

Kia ora I would like to start by sharing that we have a 10yr old son who suffers from cerebral palsy & as a consequence is restricted to a wheelchair. During the school holidays I felt deeply for my boy who had spent most of his school holidays on the couch. I decided to look around somewhere close to home for an activity that he could participate in. I found a poorly constructed website called Parakai Geothermal Motel which as a part of the experience offered private spa pools for guests. As my boy loves the water like any other child I made enquiries. As we are a large family the only room that was available for us was not wheelchair friendly, nevertheless I took the room as I was more than happy to carry him around. This turned out to be the best decision I have ever made, this trip was about my son & he absolutely loved it soaking for long periods in the spa several times a day. To see the instant relief & joy it brought to my sons face & body being able to soak in the spa with his siblings & us the parents is a vision I will forever treasure. The room met our needs & we were very comfortable. The spa was awesome. Yes the bathroom was small & motel staff were concerned but we as a family have learnt to adapt & overcome. We also went to St Luke's shopping mall which was only 40 mins from the motel that we enjoyed for an outing. Finally there is only one other place we take our son on trips & that is too Wanganui once a year. We have finally located a second place. Thank you so much Parakai Geothermal Motel you made my boys holiday.

My boyfriend and I needed a night away to relax, unwind and rekindle our relationship and this was the perfect place. We arrived in the evening - 15min later the spa was hot and we soaked away our cares. As we arrived late we were given a 'free' late check out of 2pm. Cant wait to go back.

The faults presented in L N's review are still there. I have given 3 stars as I enjoy mineral baths and it appears that all units have their own pool. (Not mentioned by L N). The pool was of "reasonable" size in all three dimensions. However the pool was half full of cold water on arrival and there was no cold water tap visible. Thus I had to "judge" the amount of hot spring water to suit.
We were the only guests during our 1 night and only saw one employee when we arrived.
The Units are located behind an old wooden house which we found confusing and took 2 drive bys before entering.

Upon arriving at this motel we were so upset with the greeting we almost left. We pulled up outside reception to check in and instead of a hello we got yelled at through the car window "We are full! No vacancies!" .. we actually had a booking.

The staff member was sitting on the counter and didn't bother to move to hear what we had to say. Once we explained we had a booking and must have a room ready she bluntly asked the name and then disappeared. Then we get yelled at again from down a path "come on!" like we were meant to know to follow her.

Once in the room we felt as though we were being lectured instead of instructed on how to use the pools. We are quite quiet and peaceful people and being spoken to like this was upsetting.

However the rooms were great, and the spa pool was perfect! So private and quiet. Just a 2 minute walk to the shops and a very nice fish and chip shop. Tidy and comfortable room, and a nice kitchen. I am glad we stayed for the room and didn't have to see the staff member again.

This was so different and we loved it ! Privacy , peace , and a large thermal spa to yourselves . All you had to do was switch it on and 10 minutes later you had hot water from the earth ! The unit was immaculate with good class extras like shower gel , coffee and so on. Nice staff . The only draw back was the wi fi , available free with a code but only 50 MB at a time but we had to stand outside the office as the signal didn't reach our unit. A shame as when travelling you just need wi fi to forward plan. I am still giving it 5 star as we loved it .

Wonderful to be able to stop after a day on the road and soak in your own private thermal spa pool. Pool had been part filled by the wonderful motel folks and it just needed to be topped up. So relaxing reclining in our own thermal pool with rain beating on the roof. Great little motel with all conveniences a traveller requires and a 4 Square store a short walk away. Go on relax and enjoy. We did.

This is a little slice of heaven. Units so clean, spacious, well equipped, comfortable, bright and breezy while retaining utter privacy. The tubs were so clean and very inviting. July is not the warmest month in this beautiful part of the world but it is amazing how warm and invigorated we felt after an hour or two in the tub sipping a glass of good wine. All units seemed to be booked both nights we were there but we weren't aware of anyone else in this relaxing little hide away. As observed by others management welcoming, very helpful but totally non intrusive. Only 50 metres walk to a small supermarket, liquor store, bakery and fish n chip shop. More shops a restaurants in Helensville only 5 minutes drive away. Easy driving distance to Auckland and the international airport. Although it took us 90mins to get to the airport we did get lost!!! On top of this it is very reasonably priced.

Only negative was it was not well lit from car park to unit - although it is only a few steps it's just reassuring to see where you're walking when you are in an unfamiliar place. A very small criticism of what is overall a gem of a place to stay!

What a wonderful motel. I love the thermal tub right outside the door of the unit in its own private enclosure. Such a clean unit, with its own kitchen, lovely bedroom, comfortable bed and plenty of space throughout. What a find! We have stayed there three times and are planning to go again soon. We regard this motel as our own slice of heaven - a place where we can relax and rejuvenate, and go out and face the world again. We are left to our own devices, management are so unintrusive, we just lock the door and hide away, and spend most of our time in and out of the private hot pool. Sigh...........bliss!
