45mins drive out of CH and we arrived at this delightful farm. Chris and Elaine were very nice and accommodating us; introducing us to their rare animal breeds collection, allowing us to handfeed and pet them all. We booked for a powered site, so we got to park right up next to the red barn. Unlike a holiday park, this powered campsite does not provide any shared facilities; so its entirely on your own in your campervan. Will highly recommend this stopover; its fuss free, short drive from out of CH, enjoyable and at a very reasonable price. What's more? their animals are simply out of this world :)

Chris was a wonderful host, very knowledgeable about the animals and the children loved the farm, petting the animals and feeding the pigs. We stayed three days there and had a very warm and comfortable stay, despite the coldness of the weather. The accommodation is very basic (Chris told us they are making some changes so it will be more spacious) but the setting, the stars at night and the animals more than compensate and it was comfortable regardless. We have been travelling for over 5 months now and this was one of our highlights!

Our family of 6 visited here recently and absolutely loved the farm tour. It was so informative and kids loved getting up close and personal with all the animals and learning about endangered bunnies. We stayed here parked in this lovely gentleman’s driveway for only a little extra - which suited us fine. Driveway is close to a rail line (came through only once that night) and the freeway but seriously for a one night stop over before we took our van back it was perfect for our family.

Stayed here on our first night after a red-eye flight to have a rest before our campervan tour. The cottage is not fancy but cozy. One room connects to the living room via the bathroom, and there are 2 single beds located next to the dining room with no door - worked okay for my twin girls. The highlight of the stay was really the farm tour. We saw different breeds of rabbits, chickens, pigs, sheep, alpacas.. Chris was super friendly and my girls totally enjoyed the tour. Was a great start to our holiday!

We spent our last night in New Zealand during our roadtrip from Queenstown to Christchurch in Warwickz Farm. At first I booked a hotel in Christchurch, but when I found this farm stay very close to Christchurch (only 35-40mins drive), I decide to cancel the hotel (with hesitation from my husband children staying in a farm). Fortunately, when I first arrived here, I knew I made a right decision. I recommend for tourists in South Island who want to have farm tour or experience farm stay, you should stay in Warwickz Farm, instead of staying at hotel or only visit farm tour (which you may did not get detailed explanation on the animals). He can give you very detailed farm tour of his rare breed animals (alpacas, sheeps, goats, unique horses+donkey, unusual pigs, chickens from various breeds, goose with curly feathers, guinea pigs, Enderby rabbit and other various rabbits), letting you pat and encounter with the animals, and he did not limit the tour time (as long as not clash with his schedule)! When we arrived, they put a welcome sign with my name on it at their gate (which is very sweet). I found the farm is large, unlike the farm in farm tour I had previously visit in South Island. The red barn (our accomodation) itself is very clean and homy, surrounded by cute and healthy animals, next to alpacas. There is a bathroom, kitchenette (microwave, kitchen sink, and toaster), and a dining room where also displaying Elaine's wool handcraft from alpacas/sheeps. Chris (the owner) is very kind, my 3 y.o son and my 12mths baby are very excited with the animals, so he pick a large branch of willow tree so my son and I can feed the alpacas with willow leaves during the afternoon-evening. He also very flexible in determining our farm tour schedule. In the morning Chris provide us with very nice and simple breakfast (we really like the toast bread and yoghurt). While waiting the farm tour we can enjoy playing with the horses, alpacas, chickens, and pigs near the barn. The farm tour itself is amazing! Chris give us private tour and he didn't limit the tour duration, because he told us he can talk about animals as long as we want (as long as he did not have another schedule of course :) ). During the tour he explain one by one of his rare-breed animals, their names, and let us to have encounter with the animals. He also show us how he hypnotize the chicken to sleep! This is a very recommended place to have farm tour and creating farm experience for families. My husband who did not like animals too much at the end of our staying agree that our stay there is very great experience and very worth the money. The only thing I regret is I did not buy Chris' book (I don't know that I actually can buy it). Hopefully I can visit it again someday.

Farm: The stay includes a personalised farm tour that exposed us to many different types of animals (certain rare breeds) which we really love. Each of them has their own story. We got so interested that we bought the book written by Chris to find out more about the farm and animals. Barn: Cosy and clean with amazing view of animals. Location: conveniently located with restaurants and supermarket nearby. also 30mins drive to airport. Host: Chris is amazing! As we had a flight to catch the next morning, he planned the tour according to our timing. Breakfast: Nothing fanciful. But nice and simple. Do note that there is no wifi, not an issue for us but just smth to take note of for others. Overall: True farmstay experience. My family and I were reluctant to leave. Highly recommended.

Stayed one night at the Barn and it was such a pleasant experience. Although it was slightly rainy when we arrived, Chris very kindly checked the weather forecast for the next day and found out that it would be raining heavily, then left us to decide when we would like to have the farm tour, which we decided to go ahead with on the same day. We were provided with boots to wear on the farm. Despite it raining, we (a group of 3 adults) thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Chris showed us so many different breeds of animals that we would not have seen as we live in Singapore. He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the animals, and we really admire his passion for them. We mainly went to the farm to see alpacas but we got to see a range of interesting animals - a pig (very different from the ones we usually see) that could respond to commands like a dog and huge rabbits that weigh up to 10kg, amongst many others. Although the Barn is more on the rustic side and (obviously) not luxurious like a hotel, it provided a very relaxing, homely feel and we all had a great night's sleep. You can also watch the animals from inside the Barn! Chris is very hospitable and nice so we would definitely return to stay if we visit South Island in New Zealand again. His wife, Elaine, also makes great clothing/stuffed toys which are definitely worth checking out. Would absolutely recommend this farm stay to anybody who loves animals, especially families with young children!

I can't really fault anything for this place because it's a farm stay. It's what you get, truly close to nature. The barn houses 2 rooms downstairs with a shop that doubles as a dining area. There is another room at the 2nd level that doubles up as an office. Only one toilet in the barn. Well, the whole barn is yours and the shop will not open for others during your stay. Chris was enthusiastic and did a good job to show us around the farm. He was passionate about his animals and there are a mixed varieties. I can't help thinking this is more like a mini farm animal zoo rather than a farm. Back to the barn. You need to like to rough it out, if not, don't stay in the barn. There were spider webs at every corner of every room, with a few big black spiders too. It's big to us, city dwellers, enough to freak us out but not as huge as a Huntsman. The deco is country style, but the room is too cluttered. I find the hygiene standard for preparing breakfast is not up to expectation. Fruit jams, plates and water boiler are a bit too "farm stay" or what we call "Kampong". To fellow Singaporeans, if you are not into kampong living, go look else where. If you are into Kampong life, stay here.

Response from Elaine G, Owner at Warwickz Farm B & B
Responded 3 Mar 2017
We are really stunned and confused by this review. It was several months ago since the stay so maybe he has got us confused with somewhere else where he had to "rough it out" or maybe he was expecting a 5 Star Hotel experience. However we are continually striving to maximize our guests experience and do take on board all comments. Let us address these ones in order. Farm Stay is the closest category for what we are which is a rare breeds conservation farm which I suppose is a cross between a farm and a mini farm zoo. Occasionally as in most farm buildings we do attract spiders and thus spider webs and in some seasons more than in others. However the rooms are professionally serviced after each stay and it would appear that unfortunately some of the little critters snuck in unawares. We can though categorically state that as the rooms are checked before each arrival there were NOT "spider webs in every corner of every room". The original Barnstay room was designed for couples and is snug (unlike a 5 Star Hotel suite) as it includes a small wardrobe, drawers, two tables and 2 chairs along with TV, DVD, stereo etc. However as the whole Barn building is available to the one party of guests we have no problem with removing the table and chairs if required. We are very approachable and if the space was a problem we wish it had been mentioned and we could have sorted something. Hygiene, especially on a farm with such a range of animals is a priority and we are dumbstruck to have our hygiene standards called into question. We have absolutely no idea what the problem was here, in fact over the last decade or so we have had untold positive comments about our breakfasts. Was it the colour of our china crockery? the brand of our kettle?, maybe he would have preferred supermarket brand fruit jams rather than homemade or maybe he was confusing us with somewhere else. Rest assured dear traveler you will be looked after at Warwickz Farm by real people on a real farm offering real hospitality in a clean and comfortable environment
