Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped here as we cycled the Otago Rail trail. Absolute highlight. Fabulous hospitality, super comfy beds & great sized rooms with excellent amenities. We dined at their restaurant & local wines & food were superb. Being able to relax in the outdoor hot tub after a day in the saddle was a bonus!

As part of our bike tour we were taken to this restaurant and what a stunner it is. Our three course dinner menu was absolutely superb accompanied by some great wine. As a group we had a little room for ourselves, the place is with a lot of history and stunning interiors. We just loved it. I would go there again without hesitation. Thanks so much.

A nice luxury option for accommodation along the Otago Rail Trail. Pitches is located in Ophir, near Omakau, about another 5-10 minutes on the bike from the trail. The guest service is very good and dinner is the main dining area which is open for lunch, coffee etc. Breakfast is in a separate room besides the kitchen and the guest rooms. The hot tub is a great way to relax after a day on the bike, and is easily accessed from your room across the private lawn. Went for the lamb loin (which has recently won some local tourism awards) and the house sorbet afterwards. Charging hub for e-bikes is beside the carpark, the owners have applied for a shelter which is subject to heritage approvals. Once again we were treated to excellent hospitality and service which we consistently encounter in NZ.

Wonderful place to stay with comfortable bed, excellent restaurant, delightful service and most important of all exceptional Allpress coffee. As you can tell we loved it. For a walk before dinner we recommend strolling down to the historic and beautiful suspension bridge which is about 1k down the main road.

Really enjoyed our two nights at Pitches. The bed was very comfortable and the room was well fitted out with quality furnishings. Everything we might need had been provided and we were lucky enough to have a room that opened out onto the delightful garden. The staff were very helpful pointing out their favourite places for us to visit in the area

Stayed at this wonderful place recently when riding the Otago Rail trail. Accommodation was pre-booked by the riding company and we were unsure of what we would get. How surprised we were. This place is fantastic and is steeped in history. The food and service was fantastic. Many thanks!

A hidden gem in the heart of of central Otago, a small slice of history that has been beautifully restored with all modern comforts. The owner and staff are all friendly and welcoming, the rooms are clean, modern, and whisper quiet. Make sure you make a reservation and dine in, the food was exceptional.
