#2 of 3 B&Bs / Inns in Bagard
Mas de l'Hospitalet dates back to the 12th century, and was built by the Knights Templar on the order of the King of France. It is beautifully set in the seclusion of its own grounds, and has two interior courtyards and large gardens, including a swimming pool 12m x 6x, which benefits from a long sheltered sun terrace. There are two luxury apartments and seven bedrooms on the property, all of which border the main courtyard, and there is also a small fully equipped guest house with its own private garden and BBQ, views over the pool and vine yards. Mas de l'Hospitalet is located in the small village of Bagard close to Anduze and Uzès. It is within easy reach of the Pont du Gard, Avignon, Nîmes, the Camargue, Montpellier, Cap d'Agde, Sète, La Grand Motte and Aigues Mortes. The Mediterranean is less than one hour away with plenty of long sandy beaches. The Mas de l'Hospitalet is ideally situated for those who wish to spend time exploring the rural beauty of the Languedoc Region.

We stayed here for 7 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stayed. The hosts were very accommodating allowing us to use their kitchen facilities when in desperate need. It is a wonderful, peaceful place to relax in and the location is great for exploring the surrounding towns and area.

This is a wonderful place and so full of character. Beautifully restored with wonderfully clean and comfortable beds. This is probably the first place that I have ever stayed away from home with pillows that are perfect for me. It was very hot when we were there but there is no way that you could expect air conditioning in such a historic building. We had a fan in our room and fabulous old wodden shutters to keep us cool. Towels sitting in a basket for the pool is a lovely touch and the pool is beautiful. Never mind the stunning view! For 'wilting' women like me, the large sofas under the huge lean to shaded area were superb. It is quite unusual and cannot really be compared to other places. Eva and her staff are so welcoming and, once you have found your way through the huge green door, it is a little home from home. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and being able to sit out in the courtyard with a takeaway pizza was so much nicer than a restaurant for a couple of very tired travellers. Wifi is dodgy, but free! There are corners so it is quite possible to get connected, but not necessarily in your room. I got a 3G/H signal most of the time so stayed connected. It is not a hotel in the normal sense of the word - it is a place to relax, be trusted and left in peace. Wonderful!

My husband and I stayed in the Mas for 2 days and wished we could have stayed longer. It was a wonderful way to relax after a week of touring. The pool area with a covered sitting area, the flowers in the garden and courtyard were welcoming to our well-appointed "Le Petite Maison" which was an apartment with everything we needed. It included a washing machine, dishwasher, and a private seating area outside. The hostess, Stephanie, attended to our every need. She was the best! We also enjoyed the charming bar and dining room. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Mas when you are traveling in the area. Be sure and visit the cave de Chauvet--a UNESCO sight. It is a replica of a cave with paintings from 36,000 years ago.

We stayed here as a group of friends on a tour around the region. The building is truly stunning - steeped in history. The rooms were large and very clean, the facilities were excellent. The pool was clean and the staff were very friendly and attentive - nothing was too much! The food was first class, and the host was a total pleasure. This is a beautiful boutique hotel really worth a visit if you're in the Provence region of France
