Kasha Boutique Hotel emerges as a pristine beachside sanctuary, highly praised for its spotless rooms and grounds. The hotel's location is celebrated for offering a peaceful retreat near the ocean. Guests are charmed by the serene and inviting atmosphere, enhanced by commendable sustainability efforts.
While the spacious rooms with scenic views receive accolades, some minor facility quibbles arise. The hotel's value is acknowledged, especially given the stunning vistas, although drink prices may be steep. Service at Kasha stands out, with staff delivering memorable, attentive care, and the relaxing amenities, including private plunge pools, add to the tranquil experience, despite occasional water limitations.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed three nights; the room was bright with high ceilings and a spacious feel. The restaurant had a delicious menu which changed on a daily basis, never disappointing with the food or friendly service.
The pool was filled with a crystal clear salt-fresh water so that you can swim with your eyes open!
We could only have wanted more water available in the room, and was only available at cost at checkout, as only one liter was provided on a daily basis for two persons which is not much since the tap water is not drinkable. This amenity would have made the stay more enjoyable.

We had a fantastic time there. Bungalows are super clean, spacious with their own private pool. The hotel pool is just a beauty with a view on the ocean. the access to the hotel is difficult but they are building a new road which should be ready soon. Breakfast a la carte was excellent and the staff was very kind. Another important highlight was The manager who was so kind and helpful. We will miss him. Food was a bit pricey but it is quality and fine dishes compared to what you can eat outside. No wifi in the room , only in the lobby but it didn’t bother us. I recommend and will def stay again there.

We were originally booked to stay at a hotel in Nungwi. But at the last moment our hotel closed and our travel agent transferred us to this hotel. This is a great hotel if you want a short romantic break in total seclusion. The eleven rooms are detached villas set amongst gardens. In the villa you have a sleeping area, a sitting area, and both a shower and a bath. From the room you have access to your own private plunge pool. You can spend the whole day in complete isolation not seeing another person.
Breakfast and lunch are served by the main pool with views over the sea. Dinner is served in the main building. Most of the staff are young but enthusiastic learners.
The only downside, from our perspective, was the isolation of the place. It was down a long dirt track from the main road. So going for a walk from the hotel was not possible. At low tide there were steps leading from the pool area down to the beach. However, it was then a four kilometre walk along the beach to get anywhere near habitation (and Matemwe is a small place with few amenities), and you can expect to be pestered all the way by 'Masai' trying to selling you various artifacts.

The Hotel requested I settled my bill all in cash in the first instance. I declined saying it would cost a lot in transaction fees. They offered me a second option to pay via PayPal. I happily obliged and went through the entire process with the manager confirming every step of the way that everything was correct. I even sent screenshots to them proving payment had left my account.
Upon leaving the hotel i was then told that 'Ibrahim' (the person who is receiving the payment) has not got the money so I must pay again. I objected, again showing the money had left my account.
Without hesitation a member of staff was thrown into my cab and i was told a man would meet me at the airport to settle the payment. I felt highly stressed by this, concerned that I had no idea who I was meeting at the airport and how many people there would be, or if they would force me to take money out if an ATM.
The whole situation was totally unprofessional, no apologies were made. Simply, get money at any cost.
I emailed the owners to complain about this and not only did they shrug aside certain complaints I raised. Instead of dealing with me directly they went to Booking.com and complained about me. They added fake charges saying I damaged property and did not pay for taxi's.
They are complete scam artists and I will be raising this with Booking.com

I visited this hotel in December 2011 and absolutely loved it! I was excited to return 10 years later, only to feel somewhat sad here. The Accommodation is luxurious, spacious and picturesque however, the hotel has a sadness about it in the smaller details which requires strong management to oversee and correct.
The food was below average and the same throughout the trip, which gets a tad tired.
The staff tried really hard to deliver, however good leadership is required to inspire and motivate here.
I am cognizant of the effects of Covid on the hospitality industry but I left the hotel disappointed in the overall experience, which was impersonal and average at best.
I hope Kasha can recover and get back to the delivering the amazing experience I first had there in 2011z

Staff are very nice & friendly they welcome you from the first moment you arrive & are helpful.
Rooms have good facilities, however make sure everything is working as expected because for us the kettle wasn't auto turning off when water boils which is dangerous but anything you need to fix or find is missing you can inform them & they will solve it.
Food is good, but maybe Dinner needs more variety in the menu, also not all soft drinks & juices on the menu will be available.

Stunning hotel/room. Place has recently changed management and has a new chef. The quality of the food was excellent, the menu (including a selection of seafood) changed daily. We stayed for 6 nights and did not tire of the food. The breakfast was also plentiful and delicious. The beach is accessible at low tide by constructed steps which were easy to use. We ventured down the beach one day and had lunch at a different hotel. Our walk was hassle free and we were not approached by locals trying to sell us things as a previous review suggested. We walked back along the road as the tide was in. The road was not as bad as described in previous reviews and I was ok walking in flip flops. Given the quality of food at Kasha we didn’t feel the need to leave again. The stand out for this hotel was the friendliness of the staff. Especially Aisha, Stanley and Mary. I also had a great deep tissue massage. I’d definitely recommend this hotel for a chilled holiday. The place is great value for money. We’re already considering booking to come back next year.

My husband and I stayed at Kasha for a week after spending a week in the bush of the Seregenti. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a fresh glass of juice and taken to our beautiful villa.
The view from the villa and pool area are breathtaking. Each villa had a private terrace, with a large size couch, two long chairs and a pool!
The following morning, we met with the person in charge of all excursions, which was very helpful to start planning some fun activities in Matemwe.
Breakfast by the pool was the ultimate respite for us, staring at this endless ocean view and admiring the woman from Matemwe village harvest the sea weed every single day to create natural beauty soaps, cosmetics and wellness products.
Coffee, fresh baked goods and fruits were DELICIOUS!
We had lunch once by the pool, loved the margerita pizza and fresh mango salad.
The hotel offers room service, however we liked starting our evenings at the bar with the traditional local drink called Dawa (fresh ginger, honey, local gin, topped with bitters and garnish with mint leaves) or a glass of South African wine. The staff knows what their doing and loved making the customers happy. Thanks to Khammis, Maisha, AbdulRahman and Damas for their hospitality.
Dinners were served in their main dining area located in the main building, where the lobby bar area is. It had a very intimate atmosphere, which is great for couples. We couldn't be more happy with their menu, which had an extensive list of vegetarian and vegan dishes. The carrot ginger soup and lentil soups were our favorites! We also enjoyed the coconut veggie stew served with a chapati and basmati rice, and you must try their cinammon pancakes!!! Overall the food is very good, which was quite important to us in choosing our Zanzibar beach hotel.
Will definitely be back!

As soon as we arrived at the hotel they greeted us with such warmth and high spirits that we immediately felt like home.
The check in was a breeze and our lodge was spacious, clean with our own large balcony and jacuzzi. The entire area feels like you are on a mini Safari. some of the small five are running around the bushes.
The amount of wildlife and greenery truly makes the whole place feel alive. Apart from the pool and beach area our most favorite part of the hotel were the Staff!
Everyone go out of their way to give you the best service imaginable. At one point the AC in the room stopped working. I called the front desk and I hardly had time to hang up the phone before the service guy was at the door.
But out of all the staff members we were in contact with, two stand out as the leaders of the crew.
Mr Stanley our host and restaurant manager and of course the King of the kitchen
Chef Edward! the food was the best we had in our entire trip in Tanzania!
Stanley made sure we never had to ask for something twice. If one day we liked a special sauce with the potatoes, he made sure it was always there before we even thought to ask for it.
Needless to say we were more than happy and I cannot imagine staying anywhere else when we go back to visit. A must if you're visiting Zanzibar!

all hotel staff are very friendly and respectful. You will always be welcomed with a smile and they will do their best to make you feel comfortable. Great attention is paid to the needs of the guests and even the delicious food is often personalized if necessary. We were there on our honeymoon and had the best time. Friends of ours also stayed in another hotel but they did a lot of things together with our hotel, as not every hotel offers this. The diversity applies to all categories here. We are leaving with sadness but will definitely come back
