This was an absolute highlight of our trip. We spent 2 nights here (24th and 25th December) all the staff went above and beyond to make this stay exceptional.

You arrive and get a safety briefing from the manager which is basically the park is safe (there are no fences but lots of staff around that keep an eye out) and you are free to roam during daylight hours, just need to have a guide with a light who helps you when it's dark just to be certain. The manager is a young man who it seems has only been there a few months but he is so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We chatted a lot with him over our 2 days and really enjoyed his (and all the staff) company.

We had 2 hot lunches here and 2 hot dinners and they were all exceptional. The lunches are freshly cooked and generous portions, washed down with ice cold drinks and a smile during the breaks from game drives on the tour. In the evenings they light a fire outside and we got to sit by it and take in the noises of the animals around and watch the thunderstorms rolling in the distance which was great fun. And then dinner is a buffet style but it is high quality cooking, staples of rice and mash potato and then meats and vegetables to mix - the only problem was finding room to fit everything in as there was so much and it was so good.

Christmas day night they put on a special bbq along with the normal food and we had some singing and dancing and some champagne (which gave us a particular highlight when our guide jumped out of his skin when the cork popped and then burst out laughing) and this all made it super special.

Only had one issue where a hyena during the night had broken the water tank so couldn't have a shower in the day but we weren't too worried and they were so apologetic even though it was entirely out of their control and they had it all fixed (which was amazing considering the location) by the time we got back for the evening. But even this was not remotely an issue and if anything just added to the experience.

Finally laying in the huge 4 poster bed (if all camping was like this I would go more often) at night and listening to the hyenas cackling around outside the tent was an experience we will never forget.

So if you go on safari in the serengeti and stay, you will have a fantastic time at this camp and we highly recommend it!!

We stayed here for three nights as part of a 10-day safari. Mary and her excellent staff made you feel comfortable and safe in this adventurous location where you could hear lions roar in the distance and buffalo slept just outside your tent. More so than any of the other places we stayed during our trip, this location made you feel at one with nature. The food was EXCELLENT! Service was EXCELLENT. The staff was happy to help with whatever you needed. You can tell that Mary and her staff respect each other and are happy working together, which extends to the way you feel as a guest. This is a camping experience, however, and a guest should know that while there is light and water (shower, toilet, sink area) in every tent, there are no electrical outlets for charging phones, using hair dryers, or other devices in the room. Charging of phones, camera batteries, etc. is done at the main lodge. This limitation is a small price to pay for an authentic camping experience in a beautiful location with excellent staff and food. It was hard to say kwaheri/goodbye. Kudos to Mary, Kevin, Maria, Armani, and the rest of the crew. I hope to be back someday!

We booked this lodging through our Gate1 safari tour and could not have been happier. This delightful oasis in the Serengeti boasts the warmest, most attentive and earnest staff. In an unadulterated setting in the bush, the tent cabins are nicely appointed with lovely furnishings, comfortable beds and heavy screen walls (with roll down canvas flaps, should you desire more privacy). Showers are prepared in five minutes or less with boiler-heated water gravity fed from hanging sources outside the tent. The food is prepared with a genuine desire to please and the staff are very receptive to requests. Staying at this lovely and upper end camp offered a singular experience within our Safari, replete with animal sounds throughout the night and 360 degree views of this beautiful park. Highly recommend :).

We stayed at the Angata Serengeti tented camp for one night when staying in central Serengeti on safari. This was probably the best tented we camp we stayed at! It felt like a lovely hotel room with the decor and furnishings. It was the most luxury glamping experience. King size comfy bed and sofa also in room. As with most tented camps, you just let them know when you want a shower and they very promptly fill up the hot water tank at your tent.

The staff were very friendly, kind and willing to help. They had a lovely camp fire you could sit around at night with snacks. The food was lovely! For breakfast, lunch and dinner all was really yummy (lunch they cooked fresh and gave to our guide so we could eat out and about on our game drive).

The only thing I would recommend is to have tea/ coffee facilities inside each tent which another camp we stayed at had which was a nice touch. Hot water kept in a flask with teabags/ coffee would be lovely!

Overall an amazing tented camp right in the middle of the bush! Highly recommend this camp if going on Safari in Serengeti! 😃

Of course it's a camp in the wilderness. But overall great. Each of the 8 or so guest tents is very large, ours with 2 sizable beds in the roomy bedroom area. A curtain separates that from the washroom and shower area. Bottled water provided for drinking/toothbrushing. Call a few minutes ahead (walkie talkie) for a fill of the shower bucket to provide warm water to your shower. After dark, call for an escort to the main tent where meals are served or a group can gather. Extremely friendly staff. All food was very good. Accommodations were very clean and the beds exceptionally comfy. Nighttime sounds might include distant lion rumbles, hyena noises, and excited baboon chatter. We were there 3 nights, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Large, spacious tented accommodation and a very warm welcome from the staff ensured our memorable Serengeti experience. No request was too much for the staff who were always on hand, whether to help with luggage, escort to the dining area at night or provide additional food and drink as needed. Everything was clean and comfortable with hot showers and plenty of space to hang clothes and store luggage. Food was outstanding. Staff should try to wear masks at all times during covid pandemic and observe social distancing guidance.

My husband and I lodged at Ang'ata Serengeti as part of our honeymoon and our stay there was the highlight of our entire trip to Tanzania! The management was kind enough to provide us with a free upgrade to celebrate our honeymoon, and each staff member went above and beyond to provide excellent service. Locally-sourced dinners were served family-style at each table, and there was always plenty of food so we could eat our fill. We were also provided with hearty boxed lunches to take with us on our safari days. Listening to the lions and hyenas at night, and seeing an elephant from our tent, provided us with memories that we will cherish forever!

As you are staying in tents in the middle of the Serengeti, expect shorter showers as hot water is limited (a non-issue for us, but something to keep in mind for other guests.) Also, you are required to have a staff member escort you to and from your tent due to the fact that there is no fence surrounding the camp.

Overall an excellent experience and we would gladly stay at Ang'ata Serengeti again.

We travel all over the world with our kids.....Ang'ata Ngorongoro Camp was one truly specail place we have ever visited. Stanley and his entire staff was absolutely amazing and so friendly and fun! The attention to service, comfort and warmth of the staff was an experience my family and I truly appreciated. It was over and beyond many hotels we've stayed in. The tents were extremely clean and super comfortable! My husband and daughter were cold. So Stanley made sure he brought us extra blankets and got water bottles to warm up our beds. The food was excellent! My picky kids loved every meal and ate everything that was prepared. The chef was very sweet and gave us a brief description of our meal every night.
We spent 2 nights here and none of us wanted to leave. The entire camp had an amazing vibe and a special energy that is difficult to find in many hotels. Ang'at a Camp is is truly a place you need to book!

The tent was much less rustic and more roomy than I expected. Comfortable bed and bathroom in good working order. The staff is helpful and attentive. Hot water for showers gets delivered within 5 minutes of request. Good food and reasonably priced drinks. The charging station in the common tent is a bit chaotic, but gets the job done (no outlets in the guest tents).
I chose "solo" traveler, but I stayed here on a Road Scholar tour.
My only 2 complaints: my tent was very near where they heat the water with a wood fire, and my tent got a bit smoky at one point.
The weather was cloudy/rainy while we stayed here. As a result the solar powered lighting was very dim. LED camp lanterns would be very helpful.

This place has a dream location and perfect for making the most of the Serengeti park! In addition to that the crew was amazing , helpful and always smiling.

The tents were confortable, spacious and well decorated. You have the felling of being in the middle of nature, surrounded by animals (we could hear lions at night ) while staying in a luxurious environment.

About the food, they have an amazing chef who was doing healthy, tasty and very a very nice presentation and it makes the difference!

This place was a find and I will stay there again if I return to the Serengeti Park.

Dear Amanda A, Ang'ata Serengeti Camp is located in the center of the Serengeti National Park, a good day's drive from Arusha Town, via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It is possible to self drive but we wouldn't recommend it if you are not familiar with the area, the best is to book a driver/guide or go through a reputable Tour Operator. 'Ang'ata Camps & Safaris' have their own transport with driver/guide and can take care of you if you wish to book directly through our company. You can visit our website angatacamps. com and send us a contact form with your request, the team will get back to you with an itinerary and quote very shortly Kindest regards, Frank Hinrichs, Director of Ang'ata Camps & Safaris

There is basic electricity run from generator & batteries. There were charging sockets in the communal areas but not in the sleeping tents.

Do you have laundry facilities?
Answer from FmH007
Albion34 contributions26 helpful votes
Dear Stephen K, we do not have laundry facilities as per say in the camps but the staff will readily take care of small laundry washing it by hand. Consider that drying is done on a line in the sun ... if the weather permits. I hope I answered your question, please do not hesitate to get in touch via the contacts on our website or on our 'Ang'ata Camps' Facebook page for any further inquiries you might have.
