Reviews summary

Grand Residences Riviera Cancun receives accolades for its cleanliness, including spotless beaches and well-kept grounds, although some guests mention a shortage of towels. The hotel's secluded location is noted for providing a peaceful retreat, although it may feel too isolated for some.
Luxurious, spacious rooms with high-end amenities are a highlight, and the service is often described as attentive and personalized. While guests enjoy the serene atmosphere and ample amenities like the spa and dining options, the value proposition has been questioned due to unexpected charges and perceived overpricing.

Hotel's Favourite
I LOVED my experience at Grand Residences. I enjoyed every minute I spent In there.
I don’t want to describe the features I enjoyed the most because I know all other guests talked a lot about them, from
1. The level of details that were paid attention to, inside the room and outside.
2. The variety and diversity of activities that were offered.
3. The level of personal care and attention offered and provided.
I will just mention a few personnels who left unforgettable memories with me, knowing that I can’t mention the name of each person although everyone has done a great job making my stay unforgettable and unique.
First of all, very BIG thanks to the management that was determined to plan and offer the best experience with everything they did.
The room service was conducted twice each day, although that was not necessary, yet the complimentary service makes a big difference. Room service was excellent, and the staff usually go underrated because you seldom see any of them, they just make sure your room is clean, arranged and perfect.
Let me start with the Queen of them all…. Alejandra aka Alex…. Without exaggeration, she is running the resort, by taking care of most of the guests’ activities and experience. Alone, she does more than 10 activities back-to-back outstandingly, nonstop and all day long (Spanish lessons, yoga, bicycle, swimming pool, Bingo, and many others). She keeps high spirits although she is exhausted. (from the AC, to the burning sun, to the water, to the sun all day and every day) I can’t get her out of my mind.
The Lobby bar, is where I spent long time,
Yameer is the professional hardworking was outstanding. Thank you Yameer.
Filex is professional.
Sebastian is very professional and funny.
On the pool and beach, Eliseo was recognizable. He made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed.
In the restaurants, all personnels made my convenience their priority.
Javier, Rosa, and I am sorry again I can’t remember the names of the rest, they all were excellent people, hardworking, very attentive, and extremely caring.
In the lobby, the staff were very professional, Iliana was the girl.
Again, I feel bad not to be able to recognize each one of them, but they all did a very good job.
They are professional, trained, polite and awesome.
Don’t go there without utilizing the professional photo service (Loreley and Diana) they add an additional touch of professionalism and joy to your experience.

Food: Overall very good. Breakfast was a combination of buffet items, stations for special items, and a small menu. The coffee was very good and all of the food items were excellent at breakfast. I was especially impressed with the quality of the fruit. Service was also very good at breakfast. We only ate Lunch the day we arrived, and it was good but took too much time out of our day. Options were table service in the restaurant, room service, or a small cafe by the pool. Dinner was sometimes excellent and sometimes mediocre. We had Steak Diane one night that was so good my brother ordered it the next night and almost thought about getting another portion sent to the room. By contrast, our last night was Argentina night, which was a lovely setting on the beach. We ordered two types of steak and the flank steak was excellent in flavor and texture, but the top sirloin was so tough that no one could eat it. The service that night and one other night at dinner was slow and just not very good.
Accomodations: This is by far the nicest resort I have ever stayed at. The 2 bedroom suite we had was super spacious for the 7 of us, and the quality of the furnishings was beautiful. The kitchen had high end appliances and was fully stocked with everything a cook would need. Beds were a little firmer than I expected but we slept great. Everything just worked and looked new.
Service: As mentioned before, restaurant servers were generally good with a few exceptions. One server explained that he was new and was also waiting on a very large party. Room service was timely and gracious. Housekeeping tried to stay out of the room when we were present and kept the room fresh each day. Hotel grounds were very clean and we noticed that our beach was better maintained than the beach at the neighboring resort. Concierge and front desk staff were excellent. Two pedicures at the spa were also excellent. Drivers were excellent.
Value: We knew this was a premium resort, but still wasn't quite prepared for how much cash we would go through in tips. Also, the prices at the spa were more than I have ever paid in Chicago ($78 for a pedicure), and the upcharge to prepare part of a fish my brother caught seemed high ($80). That being said, I would go to this resort again, or one of the sister resorts after I save my pennies again :-) I really liked the location of this property as it was a short drive from the airport and also a short drive to Playa Del Carmen.

This was our first time at the Grand Residences. We've been to the Royal Sands on the Zona Hotelera three times over the past few years.
The Grand Residences is considered the most elegant resort in the Royal Resorts portfolio and rightly so. It truly reflects Mexico's rich architectural heritage in an atmosphere of magnificent sophistication. The facilities are all great - several pools, a lot of hotel dining options, excellent room service, dedicated beach access and a good gym/spa.
We stayed here for one week in early December 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Royal Care Standard was in full view and display. The resort was kept extremely clean. The wearing of masks was mandatory in the lifts and in all enclosed spaces. The hotel encouraged social distancing and had signs everywhere about touch points that were being cleaned and sanitised. We brought a lot of hand sanitiser gels and extra face masks but the resort provided these regardless.
Because of the pandemic, we decided not to go to any of the restaurants and opted for room service during the duration of our stay (Breakfast, lunch and dinner). We did order food at the pool side which was incredible. The food was consistently excellent. General capacity as we were told, was limited to 60%. It felt that way as there were not many people especially at the beach and pools.
If you could every imagine anything one would need in a resort, they definitely had it. We stayed in the Master Suite (All Inclusive). It was like living in a mansion; so much space and unimaginable ostentation in every detail.
The only thing we didn’t like was the location. The part of Riviera Cancun where the resort is located was too quiet and secluded. It wasn’t like the Hotel Zone in Cancun where you can easily catch a bus or taxi to downtown Cancun, go shopping or just go for a walk. This is perhaps why they provide you with everything imaginable. We were told there are shops about 25mins drive away but we never visited.
All in all, we are very happy to give the Grand Residences a rating of 10/10 (5 STARS)
We wish you a Happy New Year 2021 and hope you enjoy your stay there.

This is a very nice resort with heated pools and hot tubs. The staff is very helpful and they cater to your every need. Ricardo, the water aerobics and pool activities director was very sweet and funny. Fabian set up the towels for us and brought water and an Evian water spray, he was great, always very attentive to our needs. A couple of outstanding pool/beach servers were Javier and Carlos. Even if they weren’t our server and we needed something they would gladly get something for us. We had Griselda as our concierge, she was always there to make reservations for us and make sure to help us in anyway. There is no night life so if you’re looking for that, this is not the place for you. The food is great too.

We recently stayed at Grand Residences in August and the trip was fantastic. This is our 4th or 5th time here and we LOVE IT. We were a little hesitant to go out of the country since covid hit but I have to say that they did a fantastic job at the resort and I felt safe with all the new safety precautions. This starts with the luggage being sprayed by the driver before entering the car. In the car, you receive a sanitation packet including mask and hand sanitizer. Employees wear at a minimum a mask and many had eye goggles, face shields and gloves. Every area was sprayed down multiple times a day. There was even a mat that had a sanitizer you stepped on before entering restaurants and you were given hand sanitizer as you entered as well. The resort did a fantastic job with this. The rooms were completely wiped down by staff as well. I was outside on my patio and watched the cleaning crew even pull the bed from the wall and sanitize and wipe down the headboard.
The resort is great. We've been multiple times and this review is long overdue. Starting off with Carlos (Caesar) as our concierge. He did a fantastic job making sure we were taken care of with dining, pool or beach chair reservations, transportation and anything else you can think of. He was great. All the ladies at the kids room are beyond amazing. They remember my kids each time and they make them feel welcome and always have great activities, arts and crafts, projects and games for the kiddos. A big thank you and shout out to Theresa, Nila, Mary, Chez for always making sure the kids are well cared for and having fun. We always know they are in good hands there.
The food and drinks are great and the rooms are spacious. We get the master size so we have a separate room from the kiddos and they sleep on murphy beds in the main room. Potential downsides depending on preferences: It's a quiet resort (which we love) and there's limited dining options. Especially now with covid, there was only 1 restaurant open. Room service is also available and there's poolside dining options as well. We love it here and can't wait to return in January.

Just finishing a fabulous week at Grand Residences. Our 6 person family had the three bedroom on the ground floor with a private pool; it was certainly worth the splurge! This resort has one of the best beaches we have ever experienced in Cancun/Playa. Soft sand, incredibly well maintained beach.
The service was particularly wonderful. On the beach each morning we were greeted by name and helped by Angel and Fedencio-both very attentive. Our servers on the beach, Margarito, Felix and Oliverio were amazing. They happily kept up a constant supply of Pina Coladas for our kids! The food at this resort is amazing. Lots of fresh, high quality food.
The servers and food in the restaurants were exceptional. The servers Gilberto, Harvey, and Lot were particularly attentive and nice to talk to and be helped by. We really enjoyed the live music during our meals. The food is so exceptional. We never felt sick or that heavy over-eating feeling we get so often on vacation.
Our Butler was Franco and he deserves particular mention. We were taken care of so completely by Franco. He ordered special food for us, arranged meals, arranged activities, bike rentals, etc. He helped our vacation to be as carefree for us as is possible. Marcela, our concierge, was also helpful in arranging our activities.
We enjoyed an incredibly fun, relaxing stay and would highly recommend this resort for their spacious rooms, amazing service and stunning beach.

I recently became. member at the Grand Residences. It is a small, lovely resort with a boutique feel. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. and the grounds are lovely. Activities and even live entertainment are provided throughout the week. All-inclusive meal plans are offered though the rooms are condo style with fully stocked kitchens and large dining areas. This resort is located near the village of Puerto Morales, about half way between Cancun and Playa del Carmen . If you want to go to either one of these places, round trip fare could be about 100 US dollars for 4 people. There are restaurants also in the nearby village as well as a large very well stocked grocery store. Renting a car or hiring a driver for the week would be a great idea in this relatively isolated location. I enjoy the laid back feel of the place, . Its not a good choice for the young who are looking for a continuous party. I wanted a place to relax and be pampered by the friendly, accommodating and professional staff. This is it indeed.

Have stayed here twice now, and both times have been absolutely fantastic. The employees really care about great service - ZERO complaints about anything the whole time we were here. Beautiful beaches, great food. Highly recommend the all-inclusive package.
We used the spa to get massages, and they were also fantastic.
We went ahead and listened to the timeshare presentation (took about 90 minutes) and you get to see the other types of rooms in the resort, which was interesting. Not a waste since we got a discounted massage. We also used a "voucher" for our next trip. Honestly considering getting a timeshare here as everything has been so perfect.
They have free COVID testing, and I felt like all of the staff was great about masks, distancing, and hand sanitizing

Dear Katie, Thank you so much for your review. Our guests' and employees' health and safety are our top priorities. We have always operated to the highest cleaning and sanitation standards, but to meet the current pandemic challenge, we have raised our standards to a whole new level. It's very rewarding to learn that you noticed these efforts and that you were able to enjoy a relaxing vacation with us. We appreciate your kind words and we are honored that you would consider making Grand Residences your home away from home. We look forward to seeing you again during your next visit to the Mexican Caribbean. Warm Regards.

Grand Residences is now our very favorite resort in Mexico! Spent the week of Super Bowl in this fab resort. Our concierge, Gustavo, took care of everything (dining reservations, golf, chartering a boat, all transportation, and mandatory Covid testing!). Pool waiters Carlos, David, & Miguel were awesome, and Fidencio Angel, and Efrain were super pool attendants. Towels, ice cold bottled water, and popsicles are just a few of the everyday amenities! Chris from activities made everyday fun, including special Super Bowl activities. We chose the all inclusive plan and loved El Faro and La Flor de Canela Restaurants. Lott and Roger are two of the best waiters, and arranged special dinners for our anniversary and our last night’s dinner. Don’t miss Sunday and Wednesday nights for dinner on the beach patio! The Ceviche, shrimp quesadillas, and ribeye tacos poolside are the best! This gourmet all inclusive plan tops anywhere we have traveled. They don’t have their spa built yet, but you can get a massage that’s out of this world; just ask for Anna! Highly recommend staying in the master suite with the kitchen, living room, exquisite master bedroom/bathroom and outdoor patios, but all rooms have stocked mini fridges and a coffee bar with separate showers and jacuzzi tubs. Kids club has activities/staff where they literally take care of your kids most of the day if you want adult time. It’s only about a 25 min ride to Cancun if you desire more options for night life. We are headed back for 2 weeks in May with the family and have already booked our stay for November! Five star resort!

I'm not certain about Pickle ball, but I know they have tennis courts and a tennis pro on hand for lessons.
There are 2 adult only and 2 family hot tubs.
I did not know there were more than one version. Look at the bar picture. I think it is that.
