Four stars is a very ambitious review at this property. The hotel is extremely dated. Rooms were uncomfortable and had limited amenities. Our friends staying across the hall in the same type of room at least had a broken curtain on their shower. We arrived on a day where the temperatures were close to 100° and it took hours to cool the room to a decent temperature because all of the air conditioners were turned off. The photographs look warm and chic and inviting but are extremely selectively taken. We had to carry all of our bags up three flights of stairs because there is no elevator. The best part of our stay was going down to the beach bar where the food was fantastic and drinks were not terribly expensive.

We were able to sleep for a night in puerto morales before spending the rest of our week at a local resort but did not feel safe or comfortable while here. Please do not look at photos and the carefully curated video of the property as think it is accurate or representative of your actual experience. I do not like to leave an unpleasant review but I also expect reviews and promo materials to be truthful and not qualify as a bait and switch.

The hotel was okay. It had a roof and beds. But I have to admit the pictures are a bit misleading - It needs some (a lot of) TLC. Two out of the three windows had one screw missing from the latch, so a vigorous enough pull might break them open. Walls were cracked, wood furnishings in disrepair, old and stained towels (Which I had to sign a waiver for accepting that I'd have to pay a fee if I got them dirty), the room I got had a nice wall view, and so on. For the price in the off-season it's decent enough and I just needed a place to stay, nothing more. But from what they told me about staying around Dec-Jan and the prices they have, I would most definitely not pay. Location on the other hand is pretty good, five minutes from the main square and I could actually just go back to my room from the beach to use the restroom or get anything I needed.

The Hotel and the service they provide are quite bad. We booked at the Ojo de Agua Hotel and upon arrival they told us to go to the back where it is like another section of the hotel that doesn't even have a name, but it is where the Kí restaurant is located. We got the impression that this is where they send guests who can no longer fit in the other one. The building is very old, without an elevator, the rooms are very austere, there is no mirror other than a small one in the bathroom, the sink faucet is all loose, people are afraid to use it and it will fall, very little water pressure for bathing... The truth is very bad. Don't stay there. Look for another option. We paid about 2,500 pesos a night and the truth is that it cost about 800 pesos.

This hotel is right on the beach and while providing basic amenities is perfect for my scuba diving adventures in Puerto. Front desk staff are lovely and helped me find a laundromat that could pickup/deliver same day. Rooms are cleaned of sand daily with fresh towels provided. I had the Seaview room which was wonderful. I’d recommend getting ground floor or one with balcony if you will have items to dry. I look forward to my next stay at Hotel Ojo de Agua!

After decades of vacationing in Mexico, I can definitely say that this was the worst value for money I’ve ever experienced. The first room we had was dank, no views, no security, in that you could lean against the sliding door to the balcony and it would have collapsed, noisy air conditioner, right outside on a rooftop, and no hot water. After three nights, we moved rooms in search of hot water. We had no hot water for our entire holiday. Paid way too much for this room and staff just shrugged their shoulders as in it’s Mexico. No drinking water available and no cups in the room. Correction, you could buy drinking water in the restaurant for a price higher than one would pay in Canada.

We rented a cabin, didn't sleep all night! It rained overnight and there was a leak over my bed... He was wet. No excuses, no compensation. The cabin is not finished, no storage no coat rack to dry the towels. The toilets are not "isolated" and in the room, no flow on the shower. In short to avoid

Stephanie made our experience here wonderful! She is so friendly and attentive. And the setting is pure paradise! As of today, April 2024 the system works like this. You pay 250 pesos to get a spot on their beach, but you get 200 pesos off food and drink. Totally worth it!! May I recommend the mojito. Also please tip on the full cost, not what you get off, these people work really hard. Stephanie is great. And Pedro is also kind. We hope to be back someday.

This is not a luxury hotel but it is clean and safe and the location cannot be beat. No dressers or drawers, so you will live mostly out of your suitcase. Bring your own hairdryer, as the hotel has one but another guest may be using it when you need it. Shower in the morning when hot water is more plentiful.

The beach club directly behind the building is NOT associated with the hotel. To get to the hotel beach club and restaurant, take a left out of the lobby and another left and you can’t miss it. Wonderful breakfasts and friendly service from Jesus and Stephanie! At the beach club, reserve a Bali bed for about $60 USD per day which includes about $40 USD worth of food and beverage. Ask for Julie and she will take care of you! Get an hour long massage for only $50 USD.

Only a block from the hotel are wonderful restaurants and two blocks away is a huge grocery store for anything you may need, including an ATM.

The hotel also arranged for a cab to take us to the airport for only $30 USD including tip and the driver seemed genuinely delighted to take us. All in all, we had a wonderful time in Puerto Morelos and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!

While online the photos and videos portray this as a very clean, well kept, classy hotel the reality is entirely different. We arrived in the afternoon on a 92 degree, 90% humidity day and stepped into the lobby which was as hot and humid as the outside and immediately noticed how rundown and poorly kept the lobby was.

Once we checked in we discovered we had to carry our luggage up the stairs to the third floor, stairs that were barely wide enough for a suitcase and with no air conditioning or windows for a breeze. Or was hotter than outside and led to an equally hot hallway. Paint was faded, chipped, and generally appeared to have not been maintained in years.

Arriving at our room we discovered the air conditioning was off and the room was sweltering. We had a reservation and had confirmed the day before and could not believe we were sent to a room that was nearly 100F. The air conditioner sort of worked cooling the room to a barely tolerable 80.

Once we got past the heat we noted the terrible condition of room. The refrigerator was just sitting in the middle of the floor, not plugged in, door hinge broken. The shower was missing a glass door, the water came out brown, and the bed was lumpy and terribly uncomfortable.

So much more I could say to emphasize just how much the experience shown online was very curated and misleading.

I cannot recommend, even at the low rate or was a terrible experience.

the bathroom is supersmall and droopy with a tiny mirror (the only one in the room) and no shelf to put anything on. Even the faucet was spraying water everywhere (and needs just a little TLC). The front door was rickety and not secure and everything was run down. The staff on the beach especially the girl is really to be avoided. They are really unfriendly and rude. We were seated and when the girl came in she told us that the chairs were reserved (even though there was no reserved sign on the ones we took). The reason is simple: they rent the chairs to those who are not customers of the resort.
