Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Maya by Karisma caters to adults seeking a lively ambiance, with entertainment and music taking center stage. The rooms garner compliments for their comfort and views, although noise can sometimes permeate the serene space. Service is often lauded for its attentiveness, yet occasionally guests may encounter delays. While the amenities—including diverse pools and dining options—are acclaimed, the absence of a beach has been noted. Despite the resort's high level of cleanliness, some guests feel the value proposition falls short, pointing to pricey services and costly upgrades.

Gorgeous beautifully maintained small boutique style hotel which greets you with a friendly welcome and a blast of fresh aroma.

The food is the best we ever had at an all inclusive in this price range. Rita’s Taco house was good fun and The Beach House’s modern menu, although short, never disappointed; loved the Poke Nachos with raw tuna and the Peninsula Salad. The Italian and Latin Restaurants were surprisingly good - the Lobster Lasagne being quite memorable. The house wines were the Chilean Maipo brand - an acceptable standard, which was a relief. To our surprise the booze was mainly top shelf premium quality and Manuel the friendly barman fixed some great cocktails.

Entertainment in the evenings was your standard local live bands playing cover versions which got everyone up dancing.

Unlike a lot of other hotels in the area this place makes a real effort with the seaweed problem which plagues the Cancun coastline. The beach here most of the time is wonderful and the water crystal clear. The hotel was 90% full but there was never a shortage of loungers and umbrellas for shade. Loved the hammocks dotted around the pretty grounds.

We had room with ocean view which was great and Edurardo the cheery room service guy kept did a great job keeping us well stocked with bottled water.

Not a bad word to say about this place. Will return. Loved it.

My husband and I just returned from a week here. It was a wonderful experience! We loved the smaller size, made it much more laid back and cozy. We had a Paradise Ocean View Room. It was not the "ocea view" I was expecting but it was still very nice. The Paradise rooms are placed at an angle to the beach and our room location forced us to "look through" the bar to see the ocean but it was still a very nice view. The grounds are clean and peaceful, the staff very friendly. We especially liked Alexis and Shirley at the bar right outside our room. We were in room 205. Next time I would like to be in 201 -203 as those are much closer to the beach. I loved the decor in the rooms! Very beachy! The bed was very comfortable with nice sheets. The shower had a rain head which was heavenly! The only drawback in the room was there were no drawers to put our clothes away. Only 2 or 3 shelves in the closet. Had no problem getting a lounge chair on the beach each day though if you are a late sleeper you won't have an easy time finding one. They were usually filled up by 8:00 am. And management does not remove towels from unattended chairs like the literature says. The beach is small but nice and they work hard to keep it clean. The seaweed can be a problem when the weather is bad. Room service was quick and some items were pretty good though it is a bit limited. In my experience resort food is hit or miss. Same here. Some good items, some just ok. Rita's Tacos was the best place to eat!! They are only open from 12-5 but they have the best fish tacos I have ever had! This was my husband's first visit to an all incusive resort in Mexico (or anywhere) and his comment the first day was, " I am in awe..." We will definately return!!

We stayed here for 6 nights the first week of March. From the minute we arrived we felt very safe and taken care of. Jairo was our Island Ambassador. He checked us in and took us on a tour of the facility. He kept up with us everyday. He was so very friendly and helpful! Anything we needed we could count on him to help us figure it out. We just had a regular room in the 800 building on the second floor. It had a lovely view and was a perfect size for just the two of us. The resort is very clean! It is a small intimate resort, very easy to get around. It has 4 pools. We spent most of our time at the swim up SOS bar,we loved Gregorio the bar tender when he was there, sometimes he would work at Rita's taco house. He was very friendly and fun! There are 4 restaurants, we ate at the Beach house for breakfast and they were open 2 nights for dinner. 2 days before we left they opened the breakfast buffet. The food there was very good. I loved the seafood mac and cheese. Rita's taco house is the only place open for lunch but they have so much on the menu we had something different everyday. The food there is delicious! We ate at Frank and Lola's twice for dinner and once at Latino and honestly we never had a bad meal anywhere. The food everywhere was wonderful. If you are a beach person then you probably will not care for it too much, yes there is a lot of sea weed but they are constantly working on cleaning it up to the best of their ability. We did walk along the beach every day but we are more pool people so it does not bother us. The activities director Oscar and his team are great! I took a zumba class one day and yoga 2 times and I was the only one in each class! He did a Spanish class and again my husband and I were the only ones to take it. We played bingo and my husband played beach volleyball too. We watched the rock band Dash on Sunday night they were very good! We are members and each resort has their own special feel. Here it is very laid back, music playing everywhere and of course the staff is all very friendly.
Our only complaint would be the liquor selection at all the bars is not consistent, could only find Jameson whiskey at one bar and then once it was gone they didn't replace it. We also did a tequila tasting at Rita's with the help of Gregorio {from the shelf that you didn't have to pay extra for} but again once the bottles were finished they did not replace them. So by the end of the 6 nights it was getting harder to find things we liked to drink.
I think they were running at about 30% capacity, I figured around 60-75 people there during the week we visited. We took our first ever Covid test there and the Dr did a good job. It didn't hurt at all! We passed and we were sad to see our vacation end!

From the moment we pulled up to the curb you could get a sense for the relaxed vibe. The common areas are open and airy. The spa was very nice and the gym was ok. The cardio equipment, especially the exercise bike could use an upgrade. The rooms were very nice and I personally like the system of points at the store for items other than water versus all you can drink sodas in the room. My kids drink enough sugary drinks at the bar, much less in the room. The food was excellent, although I'd have liked to see a little more variety. The entertainment staff specifically Julio and Fernanda were so nice and really went out of their way to entertain our 12 and 14 year old and their friends! The nightly entertainment was usually a band of different genres and they were excellent! I wish the Karaoke was more than 45 minutes of the whole trip. It's always nice seeing people get up and let loose a little. The beach there is excellent. The water is clear and you can get in without worrying about hitting your foot on rocks like many of the other Karisma resorts. I travel to Karisma resorts usually 4-6 times a year on average and probably enjoyed this resort more than any of the others! I can't wait to return with my family!

We stayed at Margaritaville Island Reserve, December 8 - 20, 2021. The resort itself is beautiful and well maintained. Our room was an ocean front room on the second floor. We couldn't have asked for a better location and the room itself was very spacious and nicely decorated. The bed was amazing! But the best thing by far about our stay was the staff! Our favorite waiter at the Beach Grill was Antonio. He made every morning special! Our butler, Alejandro, was very attentive to our needs and always a good source if we had questions. Jairo was really wonderful as well! We had massages and I had a facial, and Patricia, my attendant did an amazing job. Ana did a great job on my husband as well. Damaris and Shirley were wonderful at the 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar and Casandra at Latino's was also great! Our favorite Mixologist was Josue at the Compass Bar. He made excellent cocktails! Ask for a Lavendar drink! It's the best! These team members work six days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. There was never anything but the most welcoming attitude from anyone! We attended the member's dinner and the entertainment that evening was worthy of AGT! Amazing! Our room was always spotless and the maintenance crew was always working on keeping the resort in top notch condition. The food in all the restaurants was good, but our favorite was probably Rita's Tacos. We did a member's update and very much enjoyed our time with Ana Karina and Sebastian. But the absolute star is Viridiana! I had some medical issues and needed help in getting some supplies. Viri knew exactly what I needed and got it delivered for us from the pharmacy! Her smile melts your heart and she is the absolute best! The only negative I could even mention is the fact that in the afternoon the music is cranked up SO LOUD at the pools, we usually just left and went to our room. Wish they could have at least one quiet pool. Thank you to the staff at Margaritaville for making our time at your resort so special!!!

We had an excellent experience at the new Margaritaville Riviera Maya. Our butlers Alejandro and Raul were top notch and on top of everything. I'm impressed by how much work they put into ensuring everything goes smoothly for their guests. The food was excellent in most areas particularly Frank and Lolas and the Landshark. The only area that was subpar was the steakhouse. Everyone in our group was disappointed with chewy and overcooked or undercooked steaks. The bartenders at the Salted Rim are impressive with their special cocktails. The bartenders at all the pool bars are great. Jose at the SOS Bar was fantastic all week. This was one of the best spa experiences as well. The hydrotherapy was very cool. The massage was one of the best I've ever had. Gabriela was fantastic. Some other resorts don't have too much nightlife, but this one had a live band and then a DJ every night until 1am at the Landshark. Word to the wise though, if you get a room anywhere near the Landshark, you're going to hear the bass thumping in your room until 1am. We had to move after the first night from the room right next to Landshark to a room about 8 doors down and could still hear it (although not nearly as bad). The foam party is one of the highlights with Kevoy leading the way getting everyone in the party mood. I really can't say enough about the staff. They honored every commitment and they really went the extra mile thinking of ways to make our vacation one of the best. We'll be back.

Early December 2022, stayed at a Paradise Room suite. My room faced one of the beach bars which was quiet most nights except for two evenings when guest stayed late past 10pm enjoying themselves (one night it was well after midnight). If you find it difficult sleeping when others are partying, then request a room away from these bars. Other than this, I have no other complaints about the resort, staff, food and atmosphere. It was a very nice Riviera Maya destination! The beach was kept very clean despite the seaweed; during my early morning jogs, I saw that Margaritaville had the cleanest / clearest beach within 2 miles...most other resorts did clean up seaweed, but not as good. I brought my snorkeling gear and spent a good long hour admiring all the different fish species just 5 - 8 meters away from the lounge chairs. I really enjoyed the option of being given points to shop at the resort store to pick my own drinks and snacks for my room. The inclusive-included espresso shop was excellent to have (in contrast to other resorts that partnered with a brand name and charged extra for espresso drinks). The activities were all so fun! It was nice having an app in which you can be reminded of activities that you sign up for...very convenient and helped me meet friends there to do activities with (helpful as a solo traveler). I would definitely come back, but also pay for/pick a more secluded room.

My stay at Azul Villa Casa Del Mar will remain in my memory as the most incredible vacation experience I have ever had. A trip to this villa is a true luxury vacation, in the most glamourous of settings, with exceptional accommodations.

Our group of 9 adults was greeted by the staff upon arrival with an enthusiastic “Welcome Home!”. With a glass of champagne in hand, we walked through the perfectly manicured and maintained grounds into the marvelous villa. A tour of the designer-approved accommodations proved the villa had all the space and luxury one could ask for. Although, we hardly spent time inside, because why would we? We eagerly wanted to step outside because the view of the ocean was breathtaking! The villa is a private paradise and has it all: a gorgeous pool, impressive sundeck, large hot tub, pristine beach, clear and clean ocean water.

Cesar, the villa’s personal butler, is exceptional. Cesar and his team have a culture that works. Upscale services were provided by a talented staff. We felt completely taken care of by Cesar, the private chef (Roberto), the server/bartender (Daniel), and the housekeeping team. Everything was handled with such ease, professionalism, pleasantry, and kindness. All of our needs were met, but never with the feeling of being “hovered over”. Roberto, the villa’s private chef, made sure that no guest left the table feeling hungry or wanting more. He has superior culinary skills. We looked forward to Roberto showing off his skills by adding local flavors, sometimes as side dishes and other times as the meal’s theme.

Azul Villa Casa Del Mar provided a truly perfect vacation. Memories of dining and dancing under the stars in paradise will stay with me forever.

We just recently spent a week at Margaritaville Island Reserve Riveria Cancun. This was our first all-inclusive vacation. The staff and the cleanliness of this resort was incredible. The staff were attentive and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great vacation. Miguel at Frank and Lola's was our favorite server. He always remembered what we drank, kept the table spotless and ensured that our food always met our expectations. Patricia at the spa.is wonderful. Mebel kept our room spotless and even wrapped our electronic cords every day. The 2 bar tenders that went around with the rolling bar cart were amazing. They made the BEST drinks. We loved the food at Frank and Lola's., the Beach House and Italiano's. The resort was so relaxing and the entertainment was good. We will definitely vacation here again. Thank you to all of the staff who worked so hard to make our Anniversary special and our vacation incredible. We appreciate you so much!!

Okay never have done a Margaritaville. Did not know what to expect went because the money was right. All inclusive new resort adult only what could go wrong. After we caught our breath we have never have had this happen the very helpful sweet lady on the desk assured us it would all work out. 10pm screw it we are in. Now the 5 star. Our room 28 steps off the beach beautiful beach sargassum free they have a boom they keep it excellent. We felt almost adult only not many kids and the resort really doesn't cater to them. Liquor was excellent not a huge selection but pretty good stuff. Food we were totally surprised. Italian was excellent the waiter brought us sushi because we asked. Service service tip them all as they truly go the mile. Fusion was closed for remodel so next time. Rita's Taco house don't miss it. Paradise beach veiw if you like looking at beautiful sand and water. They are not top shelf but they have pretty good and maximize what they have. We booked a return vacation while we booked a return trip. If you have read any of my reviews in the past I tell it like it is and try not to whine. So to wrap it staff killed it from the man that took care of us for breakfast grabbing your plates so you don't carry them and glasses that never go empty killer fresh omelets to Rita's Taco house again you will not look long and the Italian restaurant that served us sushi because we asked off menu. It's small I think 135 rooms the staff bust there collective butts and the front desk that takes total care of you and will make change no problem so you can tip. We had FUN at margaritaville I didn't think I would ever write anything like this for a chain resort for Parrot heads. Not going to be for everyone but we booked again family resort before we left. Desk people let us pick our room. We move around a bit and this place just made the price check rotation. Bang for the buck this place was a beautiful mistake that totally went our way and we will be back.

There is a sandy, somewhat rocky area from the resort to the water that is around 3-5 feet wide …. Enough to walk for a ways…. But not enough to enjoy laying out in the sand.

Not bad…. But they are only at 40% occupancy right now (at least that’s what they told us 3 weeks ago when we were there). I would get a room on the first floor with the swim out pool if I had it do over again. We had a swim out room on the 4th floor (hoping for a better view)…. But because it wasn’t pretty teal colored water like we were used to, we used it very little. We hung out with our friends that were on the first floor. You can swim there in a lazy river type area or very easily get to the other larger pools where there are swim up bars and activities.

Yes there is an ATM and this is an all inclusive but tipping is welcome and can be is dollars or pesos. The problem with US dollars is they get easily damaged and can be difficult for them to exchange. I typically bring new bills if I am using US dollars but we always have pesos as we travel to Mexico often. The exchange rate is not great right now so I usually monitor it and do the exchange at my local bank when it makes sense.
