The food is the best we ever had at an all inclusive in this price range. Rita’s Taco house was good fun and The Beach House’s modern menu, although short, never disappointed; loved the Poke Nachos with raw tuna and the Peninsula Salad. The Italian and Latin Restaurants were surprisingly good - the Lobster Lasagne being quite memorable. The house wines were the Chilean Maipo brand - an acceptable standard, which was a relief. To our surprise the booze was mainly top shelf premium quality and Manuel the friendly barman fixed some great cocktails.
Entertainment in the evenings was your standard local live bands playing cover versions which got everyone up dancing.
Unlike a lot of other hotels in the area this place makes a real effort with the seaweed problem which plagues the Cancun coastline. The beach here most of the time is wonderful and the water crystal clear. The hotel was 90% full but there was never a shortage of loungers and umbrellas for shade. Loved the hammocks dotted around the pretty grounds.
We had room with ocean view which was great and Edurardo the cheery room service guy kept did a great job keeping us well stocked with bottled water.
Not a bad word to say about this place. Will return. Loved it.
Our only complaint would be the liquor selection at all the bars is not consistent, could only find Jameson whiskey at one bar and then once it was gone they didn't replace it. We also did a tequila tasting at Rita's with the help of Gregorio {from the shelf that you didn't have to pay extra for} but again once the bottles were finished they did not replace them. So by the end of the 6 nights it was getting harder to find things we liked to drink.
I think they were running at about 30% capacity, I figured around 60-75 people there during the week we visited. We took our first ever Covid test there and the Dr did a good job. It didn't hurt at all! We passed and we were sad to see our vacation end!
Our group of 9 adults was greeted by the staff upon arrival with an enthusiastic “Welcome Home!”. With a glass of champagne in hand, we walked through the perfectly manicured and maintained grounds into the marvelous villa. A tour of the designer-approved accommodations proved the villa had all the space and luxury one could ask for. Although, we hardly spent time inside, because why would we? We eagerly wanted to step outside because the view of the ocean was breathtaking! The villa is a private paradise and has it all: a gorgeous pool, impressive sundeck, large hot tub, pristine beach, clear and clean ocean water.
Cesar, the villa’s personal butler, is exceptional. Cesar and his team have a culture that works. Upscale services were provided by a talented staff. We felt completely taken care of by Cesar, the private chef (Roberto), the server/bartender (Daniel), and the housekeeping team. Everything was handled with such ease, professionalism, pleasantry, and kindness. All of our needs were met, but never with the feeling of being “hovered over”. Roberto, the villa’s private chef, made sure that no guest left the table feeling hungry or wanting more. He has superior culinary skills. We looked forward to Roberto showing off his skills by adding local flavors, sometimes as side dishes and other times as the meal’s theme.
Azul Villa Casa Del Mar provided a truly perfect vacation. Memories of dining and dancing under the stars in paradise will stay with me forever.
