Hotel's Favourite
This was my bf and I’s first time staying at an all inclusive resort so we really didn’t have any expectations yet since we had nothing to compare it to.
Right off the shuttle, we were greeted by a bellhop who took our luggage and we received popsicles and seated in the lobby.
*CON- the company I booked with guaranteed a $500 coupon book at check in. When I let the staff know of this, they said that my travel agency did not inform them of this and they would need me to forward the email, which I did, but was given the run around the WHOLE week and never received any coupons.
We were taken to our room promptly, where our bracelets did not even work to let us in the room. The bellhop said he would have them fixed to just wait at our room. 10 mins went by and he never returned . My bf ended up going back to the lobby where they had already forgotten about the bracelets. When we got them back only one worked *CON- multiple times through the week we went back to the lobby to get my bracelet fixed, and all week it never worked. By the 4th day I gave up and we worked off of one bracelet.
FOOD- as far as restaurants, they have 2 reserved dinner options, and 1 dinner option that DOES NOT require reservations . 2 lunch options, 1 breakfast option.
Frank and Lola’s is Italian food which I found very delicious if you are open to trying new things, my bf is more of a meat and potato person and did not enjoy many of the meals they had to offer .
Latino is an asian/Latin fusion restaurant which was amazing! There is sushi!! The only thing I found to not enjoy from them was the pad Thai which was extremely sour. Besides that, it was our main go to 3/7 nights.
The beach house restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. No reservations needed . Mexican buffet is offered Tuesday and Saturday nights but did not stick out to us. The breakfast menu is small but there is always a buffet which I would give about a 6/10. Not many meat options but it kept us full until lunch.
Rita’s taco house is where the REAL FOOD is at! It was our favorite place all week. It is only open from 12-5p and we were at the door at 12 every day. They offer street tacos which are a MUST! My bf favorite was the family size burrito and the nacho tower which is also a must. My favorites were the guacamole and the street corn.
FOOD CONS- no snack options in between meals i was left feeling hungry waiting on dinner, Not many options for dinner, must make reservations at 8-10a in the morning or you will not get a seat and stuck eating at the Beach house restaurant.
BARS- there are 4 bars in total . All of which are pretty unique in their own way.
5 o clock somewhere - this bar is centrally located, where all the entertainment happens . Very busy at night, hard to get a seat, the bartenders are kind of rude, but towards the end of the week, they began to remember our faces/ drinks and had them ready when we walked up to the bar! Open until 11p
License to chill bar- 18+ area with a pool and hot tub. Nothing really stood out to me about this bar and it closes earlier at night. Never hung out in that area enough to know how late they stay open.
SOS/ swim up bar- this is the bar located near the back pool and is kind of secluded from all the hustle and bustle . They do have swinging shaded beds to hang out in, a few hammocks, and some swings. Nice to grab a drink while being in the water.
Compass bar- my ALL TIME fav! Open until 12a, they will make you literally anything you want as long as you have a recipe. Paulino and Josue were AMAZING!! We visited for my birthday and although they clean up at 11:45, Paulino set me aside a birthday shot he came up with as well as played “in the club” by 50 cents for me. They really are some of the best bartenders I have every met! They also would let my bf and I pick music on their phones to play over the speakers which was very nice of them.
POOLS- never really used the pools much, seemed to be quiet, just not enough seating . Even getting out to the pool by 8-9a, all the chairs had already been taken .
BEACH- the shoreline is very small and not many chairs are available, I found going out right from breakfast around 8-8:30a was the best time to get chairs, umbrella, and a table.
CONS- there are Bali beds on the beach that we were interested in but they are reserved for members only and if you want to rent them, it cost extra. It was not advertised this way on the website so that was a little disappointing.
SPA- since it was my birthday trip, I was highly interested in using the spa. The first day there, the staff from the spa approached me at the bar where they talked me into the $299 package (hydrotherapy, back/shoulder massage, skin mask/wrap, and facial). While the experience was relaxing, the hydrotherapy was NOT worth it and was a waste of my hour I could’ve spent on the beach. The massage was amazing and I fell asleep for most of it. The facial burned a bit but overall was a relaxing, one time experience. In my opinion, wayyy overpriced for what you can find off the resort!
ROOM- we booked the paradise suit which includes a living room, king bed, jet tub, rainfall shower, and a balcony. They made our bed every day and restocked our towels. For my birthday they even put a banner on the door as well as flowers and a “towel cake” on the bed.
EVERYTHING ELSE- there will most likely be someone walking the beach who tries to get you to take a trip to the “islands” DO NOT BOOK IT!! If you want to go to the islands, it is better to find your own place and do that. We had a horrible experience and spent over $350 to waste our whole day at the islands which were overcrowded and offered mediocre food. The price also included so called “snorkeling” where they dumped us in the middle of the ocean where the water was probably 15-20ft deep and we didn’t even see any fish or coral reefs. Just SKIP IT!
We heard good things about the ATV/cenote trip but most people booked that through Expedia.
FYI- you can also rent snorkeling gear at the hotel and snorkel right off the pier where people saw sting rays, jelly fish, and different types of fish!
PROS-
Friendly staff, clean environment, quiet/relaxing atmosphere, live music most nights, unlimited food and drinks, beach access, multiple pools and bars, fun for every age.

We loved this new resort. We had been there before when it was Azul beach and enjoyed it then. It’s better now! The Margaritaville decor and theme was carried throughout the entire resort and in our rooms. The colors were bright and fun and there was lots of artwork on the walls in our room that was beachy and parrot themed. We really liked the concept that they are doing where they assign you a certain number of points for your time there and you go to a little shop that has all sorts of things you can choose from to stock your fridge and minibar. The store had lots of items that we wanted and we had plenty of points to enjoy snacks and drinks that we wanted not things that were already put in our mini bar by the resort. Regarding COVID precautions, the resort was mandated to be no more than 30% full and it was less than that. Employees always wore masks and some of them were face shields also. Masks were not required of guests but because the resort was so sparsely populated with guests, I never felt at risk. They were constantly cleaning and sanitizing everything. The food was exceptional, including the restaurants, room service and poolside barbecue. Service was amazing. Even though there were so few guests, they had everything staffed with waiters, bartenders, butlers, and beach attendants. Our butlers, Janet and Valentine were always friendly and available to help us with any plans. The waiters were all great especially Daniel,Carlos,Caesar, and Manuel. We had relaxing hot stone massages from Norma and Anna. There was live music every day and every night at the main pool area. It was a fantastic trip!

We loved it. Never felt safer and healthier. Before entering the reception our temperatures were taken. There are mats with sanitizer for the shoes, EVERYONE (staff) wears a mask and the restaurant staff wears a mask and a shield all the time. Lots of sanitizing gel available everywhere. Beach towels are wrapped in plastic, rooms are sanitized and cleaned twice a day. There is someone cleaning and sanitizing everywhere all the time. Social distance everywhere; bars, pools, restaurant, and common areas. Gio helped start the day with an amazing yoga class. Blanca, Lucia, and Sheyla never let us get thirsty, they even came to our swim up every 20 minutes to offer drinks. Martha at the smoothie serves the best smoothies with a smile. The spa experience was amazing, greeted by Roberto at the reception and Margarita and Norma gave us an unforgettable massage and outstanding service. At Latinos and Lolas restaurants the food was second to none, the service by each member of the staff was exceptional, Ricardo and Cesar were outstanding and EVERYONE else at the restaurants, just can't remember all the names. There is a restaurant called Beach where they serve breakfast every morning. Antonio, Jorge, Ruben, and Isaias treated us like royalty. Our butlers, Valentin and Janet, went out of their way. The Ambassadors also took care of all of our needs. The level of cleanliness and attention to detail makes you come back over and over again.

This place was so relaxing. Due to Covid, there was not too many people there. So, we practically had the pool to ourselves. We upgraded to a swim up room, and I would say that is the way to go. We did not spend too much time on the beach, but the sand was clean and soft and plenty of loungers available. However, the "bali loungers" are only for "members" which we are not. But that did not matter to us.
Every employee we encountered were polite, friendly and helpful. We loved Wilbert and Manual at the swim up bar directly across from our room.....! We were in room 901. Rooms 901-907 are direct access into swim up bar pool. (1001-1007 were also swim up, but on the shoot off from the swim up bar side, so not directly in front of it, but easy access by water or foot). Also the pool is like 50 meters long, so if you want to walk/swim laps you can easily do so. The room never lacked fresh towels and there was lotion/shampoo/conditioner and hand gel.
We used the Spa, and had massages. The ladies were very good and the spa was beautiful. I would recommend!!
The hotel was constantly being cleaned, and we felt very safe. They had Covid tests on site, and found us to schedule them, and brought us our results. And it was FREE
Due to the small numbers of guests, the restaurants alternated which were open. We liked all of them, but after 6 days I was sorta over it. But i think that is true of any all inclusive. However, all the food was very good and I loved my morning pastry delivery along with a fruit plate to my room. I could even get mimosas while they were setting up the bar.
I cannot find anything negative to say about this hotel, it was just great. And the housekeeper on our last day left us a message in fronds on our bed with towel swans!

Hello everyone! My two adult daughters ,my son-in-law and I stayed at margaritaville August 3 to August 10 and had a amazing time! We arrived mid day and our rooms were ready .we had a paradise suite which was very roomy extremely clean and beautiful! The service went above and beyond to make everyone happy!! The two bartenders from the 5 o’clock somewhere bar Mariano and Armando were the best bartenders I’ve ever had in all the resorts I’ve been to! These guys worked so hard it seemed like they were there from morning tonight always with a smile on your faces .The pools were Super clean the adult pool being only a couple feet deep was actually a lot of fun just to hang out in! The pool activity guy Giovanni also did the pool aerobics which were amazing he really put quite the fun vibe to the whole exercising! My daughter did have her hair braided in the spa/salon she used Norma which was very professional and outgoing if you need any work done from the spa or salon ask for her she was great! Our maid marina was super fun she did a great job cleaning the room and making us laugh! The beaches did have a little bit of seaweed but nothing that discouraged us and there was also painting on the beach which was a lot of fun ,my daughters really enjoyed that! By the way I am a smoker and there are ashtrays all throughout the resort, just saying! ha ha !We did enjoy a taxi to the town of Puerto Morales the taxi driver actually stayed there and waited for us the whole time that we shopped it was super safe we never felt Uncomfortable at all. The food at the resort was delicious !did not have a bad meal ever! room service was very quick and always excellent! After dinner every evening they had a live band at the 5 o’clock somewhere bar which was always excellent! The resort is very clean and with the whole Covid situation they had hand sanitizers and temperature checks all around and we enjoyed every second. It is a small resort and because of Covid they were not that many people there which was very quiet we cannot wait to go back we really enjoyed ourselves! The resort is very close to the airport only about 20 minutes so traveling there and from was a really nice ride! We cannot wait to return to Margaritaville as soon as we can!

I've traveled a lot and can say hands down this was one of the BEST trips of my life. The house is amazing and very well maintained. Every detail makes it feel like it's your very own resort. Our family went and we had 12 people total, 3 were kids. The staff made this experience amazing. Cesar, the butler, was AMAZING! He took note of everything we were eating and drinking and went above and beyond to keep adding to our experience based on just his observations. He arranged massages at the house for us and a very cool cave/snorkeling excursion. He made sure his staff was on point at all times. The grounds looked amazing and you could tell he was in charge and the team all respected him. Roberto was our chef and he was amazing. He made whatever we asked for and made the BEST homemade tortillas. The food was all amazing and prepared right as we ordered it. I'd highly recommend his breakfast burritos. I love how the staff would ask what we'd like for lunch and dinner and go out to the store to get the things needed for that day. It was truly amazing. Daniel was our bartender and waiter throughout the entire day. We never had to get up to find a drink at all. He was always right there, asking what he could bring us. He made amazing N/A drinks for the kiddos and you could just tell he was never put out by bringing one more drink. The grounds staff had the place looking beautiful and the beach was always being cleaned up from any seaweed that would wash up. The housekeeping was perfect too. They always worked around who was in a room and were so respectful. They never made you feel like you were burdening them at all and they couldn't go home because you were in a room. You can tell that they were there to work for you and for as long as you needed them. Cesar arranged a DJ per our request one night and the staff stayed and kept our drinks flowing until we were done. They stayed with us until 11:00 p.m. If you're looking for not just a house but your own private resort with a staff that will care about your experience even more than you do, this is the Villa to book. I can't say enough about this Villa and the staff. The owner is making sure he keeps this house looking amazing and it shows. They also have picked the right staff to run this Villa. I've already booked it for next year! I did it when we were on day 1. Kudos to the owner and staff at this place! Can't wait to return next year and hopefully see Cesar, Roberto & Daniel!

My husband and I choose this resort for a week away and are so glad we did! The entertainment staff (Julio Oscar Angie) were fantastic and so personable. The Bar tenders were great and kept the drinks flowing. The resort was absolutely beautiful and so private and secluded from any other resort. You felt like you had the whole place to yourself! They were only at 45% capacity when we stayed so we felt like we recognized or knew everyone staying there by the end of the week. The crowd was pretty chill which we liked. Our room was right next to the 5oclock somewhere bar and pool. It was a super convenient location! The only issue was at night it was very loud in our room as the live music played until about 11pm when the bars closed. One night we wanted to go to sleep early, so that was not really possible due to the noise levels. During the day though our room was perfect and close to everything, and daytime it is quiet and relaxing. We thought the food was good, but not the best we’ve had on vacations before. The service at Latinos and Frank & Lolas was good, but the service at Rita’s and (especially) the Beach house was very slow. Which was mostly fine as we weren’t in a hurry while we were there, but I would have rather not waited an hour for food and instead just ordered food to the room so I could get to the beach or pools sooner. We were anticipating the beach to be iffy due to the reviews, but it was beautiful and the seaweed was always cleaned up by 10am. We booked two excursions through the resort. 1. Catamaran and snorkel to Isla Mujeres. 2. Tulum, turtle snorkel in Akumal, and swimming in a cenote with lunch. We had a great time on both, but would not recommend the catamaran to Isla Mujeres simply because the beaches it took us to were crowded and very small and not scenic like the rest of the island is known for. I’d recommend booking that ahead of time and doing your research on where it goes. The 2nd excursion was great, it was very active and informative. The only issue with that one was the two hour drive there and back while also picking up and dropping off a van load of other passengers. The excursion itself was great and we would recommend it, however if we were to redo it we would bite the bullet and book something private to cut down on all the time it took to get other passengers. Overall, we will definitely recommend Margaritaville to our friends and family, especially those who like a laid back and chill vibe, who want to spend time relaxing on the beach and in the pool.
(Also shout out to the lifeguard who saw my husband walking around with a bad coconut, asked us if we wanted good ones, and went and got us two fresh coconuts to drink from and eat the meat of! Totally demonstrated the above and beyond service we had heard so much about!)

During our visit Sept 2020 the resort had less than 20% of its rooms booked so that may have given us an unfair advantage considering they had plenty of time to be extra attentive to my husband and I and our friends that we traveled there with, but I suspect they would take excellent care no matter the number of guests. Every staff member went over and above to not only cater to us but to be friendly and helpful and kind every day that we were there. The food was far and away the best quality resort food I have ever eaten and we have stayed at many five-star resorts. We loved our swim up suite, it was very comfortable, the beach while small was beautiful (I mean it is the ocean) seaweed was cleaned from the beach every morning and was not near as bad here as several of the other resorts that we have stayed in the last 2 years. The shop and using points rather then having a stocked room was nice, I like being able to pick my own stuff and our butler was wonderful about delivering our items and having icein the room every evening. We will absolutely do Margaritaville again.

After looking for an all-inclusive resort we saw a Margaritaville Resort was opening in Cancun. We have stayed at other Margaritavilles so we know the high standard set by these resorts. The opening day was a great deal so we booked March 18 through that weekend. Usually, reality is never as good as the anticipated trip, not in this case. As we arrived we were met by Diego and he was fantastic, so welcoming, friendly, and hospitable. He made sure we got to our room and had everything we needed. His gracious hospitality did not end there. He checked on us every day to make sure our trip was everything we imagined. When Diego was off checking on other guests we had George always coming by bring drinks and making sure our cups were never empty. George also made sure we knew about everything the resort had to offer. There was music every night, starting with light music being sung by a local artist or a mariachi band followed up by a band poolside each night. Each of the restaurants were amazing and the service was above expectations at each. They had a fast and easy taco bar, ocean side breakfast/lunch restaurant, Italian restaurant, and another restaurant that had great sushi. When you weren’t eating and drinking there was an amazing entertainment staff, Nicy and Herve, who were always organizing beach volleyball games, dance lessons, corn hole tournaments, kayaking, etc. to work off the calories and have fun. I have been on many cruises but this was the first time I had been to an all-inclusive resort. We were worried that there wouldn’t be as much to do as with a cruise, we were wrong. That was the best vacation, by far, I have ever had. The people were so nice and so accommodating, I’ve never had such an awesome experience on everything with no complaints. Everyone at the resort knew us by name and Diego said if the staff is doing their job we would also remember their name. As you can see, I remember their names and will never forget how great they were. We can’t wait to book our next trip back as soon as the COVID 19 craziness is over. See you there!!

Incredible resort! The rooms and service were fantastic. Everything was very clean. They took every precaution to insure things were santized and kept clean. All of the staff wore mask/shields, they took your temperature and each person used handsantizer before entering the restuarants. The food was amazing! They used QR Codes to access the menu and every entree was chef prepared.
