Nestled in a tranquil location, the Movenpick Resort Bangtao Beach Phuket garners high marks for its professional and attentive staff, contributing to an exceptional stay for many travelers. The resort's luxurious rooms, noted for their space and stunning views, complement the peaceful atmosphere that guests find ideal for unwinding.
The cleanliness is another highlight, with a pristine beach and well-kept facilities, though there are mentions of a need for additional dustbins. While The Palm Cuisine's offerings are a hit, some reviewers point out that dining there comes at a premium compared to local eateries.

Nice hotel. Great for a quiet family vacation away from the hustle and bustle. The area is good, the location of the hotel is also excellent. We are currently living here since July 12 by three families in two three-bedroom penthouses. The property is small but clean and neat. Nice swimming pool with sunbeds, both indoor and outdoor. Each room has its own kitchen with all the necessary appliances (even the dishwasher), dishes and appliances. The beds are very comfortable, a variety of pillows. The comfort in the rooms is good. The beach is within reach, but there are no sunbeds. There are strong waves. The availability of parking for occupants, and absolutely free, was very encouraging. The hotel itself is not fresh, the rooms smell of sewage, but not critical. The plumbing isn't new anymore, there are outages. Breakfasts didn't live up to expectations the most. Chose a hotel of this particular chain as there is experience of staying in other Mövenpick. The choice of dishes is small and uniform. It's getting boring. The restaurant space is small, and in my opinion, it won't be able to accommodate half the residents at once. You have to find time to get out of line. Upon check-in they provided a room with non-working air conditioning. Repaired quickly. During the night weather and heavy rain, flooded one bedroom. Promptly suggested another number themselves, though it wasn't critical. And a free dinner as compensation. With regard to personnel, I would like to mention separately. Very polite and friendly, try to make things right quickly and know how to make up for their mistakes so kindly that I want to thank them for making them. Generally a good hotel for a quiet family vacation.

We stayed at Movenpick Bangtao as part of our family trip and get together in Phuket and were so pleased we decided to book here. The greeting from the staff was warm and welcoming and they couldn’t do enough for us.
The rooms were very comfortable and well appointed and if you needed anything extra you just needed to ask the staff and they would bring it to you no problem at all.
We ate in the restaurant for some days having either breakfast or dinner but also enjoyed the local restaurants directly over the road right on the beach. There were some great little bars and Thai restaurants nearby and some amazing sunsets to take in, all a short stroll across the road or down the beach a bit.
A few times we were not moving away from the pool and had snacks and drinks delivered to us there while we relaxed and enjoyed the wonderful setting. At all times the staff were attentive and always ready to bring drinks or fresh cold towels if they thought we looked like we were getting too hot.
We will definitely return and stay again on our next trip to Phuket as this place would be very hard to beat in terms of amenities and location.
Thanks very much to all the team at Movenpick Bangtao Beach!

Found this place as Angsana was full. The 3 bedroom residence 2101, is really spacious, well equipped even with kitchen cutlery, paper towel and dishwashing liquid. The rooms and sofa are clean and though abit old, it’s comfortable and has everything we need. Housekeeping keeps us well hydrated by giving plenty of water for our family. Breakfast is cosy and quite a good spread. We had to bring 1 glass of milk back for my son who’s unable to eat with us some days and they are accommodating for that. Wished we could be offered to serve simple breakfast in room as it’s still paid for. It’s next to Angsana and just 5 mins walk via beach.
The drawbacks are there’s no evening turndown service, no Xmas or festive atmosphere in resort which is strange, small gym and kids room. The shower water temperature is inconsistent and hard to gauge. It can definitely be boring for teens. Also one day Thursday the pool towels ran out around 10am and towel counter closed early at 4.30pm, weird indeed.
We enjoyed warm and hospitable service from everyone especially front desk team- Fang, Yudha and rest.

We recently booked this holiday based on the outstanding reputation of the travel company we used along with the photos and descriptions provided, but the experience was nothing like what was promised. We booked a two bedroom pool villa, however the pool was not fit for purpose. The water was stale and stagnant on arrival, then we endured days of them trying to sort it leaving us without a workable pool for 5 of our 7 days. The accommodation was not as advertised – it was extremley dirty, one room in particular smelt heavily of damp and some furniture was broken, in general run down.
Family friendly - not really if you have younger children as there is no shallow end in the pool. Children’s club is in a dark room at the bottom of a steep set of stairs. The location itself was unsafe, the door remained open and children from there had access to a filthy shallow water feature and the alcohol storage room!
Movenpick boast about their chocolate hour being sheer indulgence - one glass of iced hot chocolate at the pool is what you got, that is if you wanted to get into the pool at that time. We complained about this and shared the Movenpick website details on what they advertised, staff seem genuinely surprised, two days later, they put on chocolate hour in the restaurant, which was a great improvement however it was just breakfast leftovers and shop bought junk food. There was nothing as advertised on offer.
The location is this hotels best feature, it’s a stone throw away from a stunning beach which is accessed by crossing a very quiet road.
Throughout all of this the manager was not available as he was on his own holiday and there was a lack of any deputy. The customer service was unhelpful not only to us but also to our travel rep when the concerns were raised. There was one member of staff who tried her upmost to sort things the best she could, but the offer of a massage or a bottle of wine was what she had been told to offer us as compensation. Even she agreed this was an insult given the situation.
That manager did reach out via WhatsApps on the fifth day of our holiday but this was only after we said we would deal with the issues when we got home with our travel company.
When we returned home and raised the complaint, the manager insisted to the to the travel company that he was dealing with us independently so refused to give them details. This was a complete lie, the level of his unprofessionalism was shocking.
I would strongly advise others to be cautious before booking, it felt like a complete misrepresentation of what was advertised. Very disappointing.

Responded 9 Jan 2025
Dear THux, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We value guest feedback, as it allows us to improve our services where necessary. However, it is important to address certain inaccuracies in your account to provide clarity for future guests. From the outset, it became clear that your expectations were not aligned with the offerings and policies of our resort. Prior to your arrival, your correspondence reflected dissatisfaction regarding the villa configuration and bed arrangements. While our team clearly communicated the standard bed setup and associated policies, we made an exception by providing a complimentary extra bed as a gesture of goodwill to ensure your family’s comfort. Our approach has always been to offer flexibility where possible, and we extended this courtesy to accommodate your request. During your stay, your concerns were brought to our attention and addressed promptly and professionally by our team. It is regrettable that, despite our efforts to engage in dialogue and provide solutions, dissatisfaction persisted. I personally reached out to you during your stay to offer further assistance; however, my invitation to discuss matters directly was declined. Following your departure, you chose to escalate your concerns through multiple third-party agencies. At each stage, we responded promptly and transparently, reiterating our willingness to resolve the matter amicably. It is therefore disappointing that, after these consistent efforts, you opted to share a highly exaggerated and misleading account of your stay publicly, months after your departure. This pattern of behavior suggests that your focus was less on achieving a resolution and more on pursuing an outcome through public channels. Your approach appears to have been driven more by the pursuit of compensation than by a genuine intent to resolve grievances. Additionally, the photograph you posted as part of your review is both misleading and inaccurate. The image shows water from the decorative waterfall feature, which is separate from the pool and does not feed into it. At no point during your stay was the pool water stale or stagnant. We take the accuracy of such claims seriously, as they can create incorrect perceptions about the condition of our facilities. You were provided with my direct contact details during your stay and after your departure, yet you never chose to engage in a direct conversation with me. Based on the repeated attempts to engage and resolve this matter, we consider it fully addressed. Kind regards, Michael Wenk General Manager Mövenpick Resort Bangtao Beach Phuket

We stayed here for 6 nights in a 3 bedroom apartment. We were here for a family wedding and there were friends and family members in this and the surrounding Laguna resorts.
The apartment was great with 3 en-suite bedrooms, a kitchen area and a huge living area . The two main bedrooms were at each end of the apartment giving a degree of privacy but still having access to the large terrace. The kitchen had a dishwasher ( but no detergent ) and an oven but it wasn’t sufficiently equipped to do any real cooking. There was a good supply of drinking water provided each day In refillable bottles. The cleaning staff were very efficient but it could run quite late.
Our flight was very late and when we arrived at the resort there was no food or drink available which seemed strange at this class of hotel.
Breakfast in the restaurant was very good, with egg and noodle stations in the foyer. However the restaurant and bars were empty at other times and lacked any atmosphete. We intended to go for happy hour drinks in the pool bar but it had closed because of rain and the offer didn’t extend to the main bar . It would appear many people ate room service or ordered food via Grab. We never worked out what the chocolate hour was supposed to be as there was nothing obviously on offer.
The resort is small and surrounded on three sides by the Laguna resort which encompasses a huge area with hotels and lakes. There were a few nice beach bars and restaurants nearby and there is a small shopping area about 20 minutes walk away or it was about 40 minutes walk to the nearest proper shops.
This is a pleasant low key resort. It doesn’t have the facilities of Banyan Tree and Angsana but it suited us as we were travelling with a toddler. It would be useful to have some kind of shop or kiosk on site to sell essentials.

This is our 3rd time staying at Movenpick and we are happy loyal customers. This time we stayed for 17 nights with friends and family and had an amazing holiday. We had several young children with us which brought us over the room capacity but they didn't charge extra and offered free breakfast for the kids. Location is beach front and there are several local Thai restaurants within walking distance where you can dig your feet in the sand and enjoy beers while watching sunset. We booked their penthouse jacuzzi villa and its super nice to chill there with a glass on wine at night after the kids went to bed. Their pool is gorgeous too, and whilst you can sip cocktails by the pool bar you can also do laps because of the way its cleverly shaped (need to burn off those calories!). The resort is a short drive to Boat Avenue where there are plenty of shops, restaurants, massage options, and on Fridays they have night market too. Laguna golf is just round the corner and Blue Tree Waterpark is approximately 10 mins drive away, super convenient. I had the pleasure to meet with the hotel owner who was extremely hands-on, responsive, resourceful and always went out of his way to help us. We needed to get PCR tests before the flight back to HK and he referred a clinic to conduct the tests at the comfort of our villa. My son tested positive so couldn't board the flight, Movenpick being a SHA+ hotel immediately handled everything professionally and arranged a private place for us to isolate so he can recover peacefully. The staff who comes in to do daily cleaning does an amazing job and keeps the place spotless by disinfecting thoroughly. This took a lot of stress away from us and my family cannot thank Movenpick enough for everything you've done to look after us. Many thanks and we hope to see you again soon!
For those who are looking for a relaxing holiday in Phuket, I would highly recommend Movenpick.

We were looking for a 5* Hotel in Phuket located at a long beach with Pool Suites and multiple bedrooms, hotel not too big, shopping and restaurants in short taxi ride distance, decent beach bars in walking distance – and we had found the Mövenpick Bangtao. We never had to regret our booking decision.
We already had stayed in various Mövenpick hotels, but this one is even more outstanding given the architecture, room sizes, the whole setting in total. But all this is nothing without the people – the staff in total. Really every person in the team is eager to make your stay a memorable experience, you won’t want to forget. We would like to mention Mary at the Front Desk in particular since she is always keen to provide solutions for us as customers (rather than just excuses for the fault of others). But also of course the service manager at the restaurant and the cook for the morning breakfast – both are so lovely and know their costumers’ desires.
The restaurant The Palm Cuisine pampers you with exquisite dishes in the evening, a bit on the pricy side compared to local restaurants. Breakfast selection is satisfying, the place very lively due to the limited space and many small kids during our stay.
Bedding in the room is outstanding, the kitchen well equipped, but we see opportunities to replace some of the furniture due to age and wear. Daily room service and cleanliness give no reason to complain at all.
Although it is quite a long journey from Europe it will be difficult to not want to return to paradise.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. The hotel is clean, spacious and comfortable. Delicious breakfasts and a high level of service, staff are on call 24 hours a day and ready to help with any question. The sea is very close, it has its own exit, it takes 2 minutes to walk. There is a large and clean swimming pool on site, there are always free beds and sun loungers. Especially grateful to Sine🙏🏻. I will definitely return to the hotel and will recommend it to friends and acquaintances!

Our family of 4 adults and our one year old son stayed at the property for 6 nights in their 2BR pool villa. The view overlooking the Andaman sea is something you can take in all day long
The Villa itself is very spacious and beautifully designed. The master bathroom is massive and very nicely laid out. The villa comes equipped with a fully equipped kitchen, utensils, dishwasher etc and this was especially helpful for us as we could cook meals for our kid.
The attached pool is also fairly good sized and the staff is very diligent with cleaning it every day. In general the entire staff at Movenpick is just so warm and friendly , always a smile on their faces that it makes you feel truly welcomed at this place.
The resort itself is located inside Laguna Phuket which is like a mini suburb being developed for high end residences, golf, resorts etc. That makes it a very peaceful location away from the party scene of Patong and the like. Majority of the guests at the resort are also family travelers with kids and seem to prefer this for long stays. We loved the overall location and peace.
There are a few restaurants and cafes on the beach which are walking distance from the resort and the nearest market is a 7-10 min drive. The only area where the resort could do better is their variety and taste of food. The breakfast spread is also limited and tends to get repetitive after the first couple of days but nothing you cant deal with.
Overall would recommend this resort if you are looking for a peaceful vacation to unwind and relax. Hope to come back here some time in the future!

Amazing location on the Laguna and the beach is just 1 min walk. 3 bed residence are very spacious and have all the amenities needed and house keeping was spot on 👌
Mövenpick is often celebrated for its tranquil atmosphere, which provides a perfect setting for relaxation and without the chaos some associate with vacation hotspots. The resort's prime location offers easy access to local attractions alongside serene views that many travelers find appealing. Service quality for the resort's cleanliness from the well-kept rooms to the pristine beach
The resort's amenities, including its large pool with a fantastic swim up bar and themed buffet nights, are often highlighted as highlights of the guest experiences
All the staff are amazing can’t mention all but Mary, Orlando & Abby went above and beyond to make our long stay of 17 days so pleasurable
Will be definitely looking to go back to this hotel in 2025 as Bang Tao ticks a lot of boxes for us.
I cannot recommend this hotel enough 10/10
