We had a two night stay here in November 2009. First impressions were not so good. Arriving at 5.00pm on a cold dark afternoon there was little sign of life nor any obvious indication of where to check in. This prompted a mobile phone call to find out if anyone was around and the patron duly advised us to come to the back door (maybe a reception sign - or an actual reception would be a good idea!?) The patron was extremely friendly and welcoming and showed us to our room. Now we weren't paying a lot of money and the rate did involve dinner and breakfast (more of which later) but, once again, we entered the world of Gulliver in Lilliput which seems to be a common experience in British B+B's. The room was tiny. Just enough space to sidle around the bed and little room for bags.

We have just returned from a stay at the Black Bull Hotel and it was lovely We even stayed in the same room (twin) as the former reviewer and found it to be warm, clean and cosy with radiators that you can control yourself if it gets cold. Also with a conveniently placed television on the wall (as if you really need one) with an excellent reception considering the locality. The hotel itself is a little gem,not posh ,but quaint ,cosy and comfortable, and with a warm welcome from everyone you come in contact with. The food is good and wholesome with a wonderful breakfast with a good choice. The Hotel is in an incredibly beautiful area with peace personified with some lovely walks one starting from the back of the hotel. All in all a little bit of heaven far from the rat race. We
