Went to the Black Bull for a family get together. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food we ordered was excellent. We stayed at our table for about 5 hours and the staff kept us supplied with drinks all afternoon. The Black Bull is a great place for a meal and a drink.

Beautiful setting. Friendly attentive staff. Food was generously portioned and great. All 4 of us enjoyed our selections. Good value for money. Not extensive selection of drinks but what was there was quality. I can recommend walking if possible as the car park is fairly small. There is a beautiful river with waterfall in the nearby woods

We came here for our last nights meal of our week long holiday in Cumbria after reading favourable reviews. Deceptively large pub/B&B. The menu is not large which I think is a good thing and we ordered 5 different items. All meals were delicious but I did get pie envy when the waitress brought out my husbands steak and ale pie. Big portions. Fantastic home made chips. Lasagne and garlic bread 10/10. Even though we were full, we were pigs and had puddings! Creme brûlée and Eton mess. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu options. We would highly recommend a stop here for a hearty, good value meal and a warm welcome.

Stayed at the Black Bull for two nights and it was one of to best places we have stayed at. Great service and friendly staff. The pub in very popular for meals, would recommend booking a table for an evening meal prior to arrival. Great breakfast with a good choice and plenty of it. While in the area the Lake District is less then an hours drive away and definitely worth a visit. Would recommend and I will be booking a stay at the Black Bull sometime next year if not sooner.
