The Black Bull at Nateby staff are incredibly accommodating. Nothing is too much for any of them. Chris the owner has built a strong team of very friendly, genuine, caring, hard working people. That means everybody. Breakfasts are cooked to order, full-English and delicious. There's also porridge, cereal and plenty of juice, tea and coffee. My room is comfortable and has a really scenic view. It also has tea and coffee making facilities and wireless internet and a TV if you really can't disconnect completely. Got pets? They are also welcome to stay. Nateby itself is a small, quiet and picturesque Cumbrian village, set just within the Yorkshire Dales National Park (yes, you did read that last bit correctly). We stayed for a week in a cottage in Outhgill while on a walking holiday. Went on the Wednesday night and enjoyed it so much we went the following night. Pork and Black pud stack and ribeye first night, Steak and Guinness pie and Parmesan Chicken second night. Both meals were excellent and presented perfectly. Highly recommend. Team on duty both nights where very welcoming. Look forward to returning when in the area again.
We had a great meal - pork and black pudding - here washed down with excellent ale and my wife loved her pie so we looked forward to another visit a couple of days later. My wife's burger spoiled it all. A dry and tasteless heavy lump with a smell like a late night kebab shop. We took some home for our dog but it was such a tragic , onion filled thing that I threw it away. Ditch the burgers , guys.
Very lovely stay. Good room, lovely evening meal in the bar, friendly service throughout and great breakfast. What more can you ask for? The food in the bar was exceptional and nicely presented. Good choice as well.
