I stayed here for two nights with my mum in a twin room. The room is beautifully decorated with coffee making facilities and a good size bathroom. The food in the evening was outstanding. we decided to eat here two nights in a row as there was enough choice on the menu to do so. both evenings the meals were delicious home-cooked food. It’s in a great location with lots of walks in Yorkshire Dales and close to Smardale nature reserve for a bit of red squirrel spotting.

Great local pub Stayed here overnight on way back from the Lakes. Room was comfy if a bit small(too much furniture?) but the welcome, food and beers were terrific. It’s family run so everyone was helping out but we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it to others.

Welcoming, dog friendly, pub with good food, beer and comfortable rooms. We broke our journey from Hertfordshire to Scotland here after reading other reviews and it was a great choice. Some lovely walks right on the doorstep.
