Disney's Old Key West Resort offers guests a taste of laid-back Floridian charm, with many visitors enjoying the spacious rooms equipped with full kitchens and laundry facilities. Although the atmosphere receives mixed reviews, with updated bathrooms but some outdated decor, families in particular appreciate the ample space. The resort's proximity to Disney parks and golf courses is a highlight, yet opinions on value and cleanliness vary, as some guests encounter maintenance and housekeeping concerns. The multiple pools are a hit, but the limited food options and inconsistent service have been noted.

Overall we loved our stay. It's hard not to enjoy anywhere on property to at least some degree and this was no different. Our room 2424 was in a great location. Couple of minutes walk to the pool or hospitality house and right by the peninsular road bus stop so you get dropped back first ( when getting on. A bus walk to hospitality house to avoid a long drive round the resort on the buses). Room was large, clean and had a good kitchenette with an impressively large fridge and small ice box. Room was spotless. OKW itself is beautiful and it's great being able to park right outside the room (we drive everywhere other than MK - and the odd boat trip to Disney springs). Staff were all really friendly we love being told "welcome home." There were some negatives. I know when you rent DVC housekeeping is every four days but our room was not cleaned until our final night (11 nights in to the trip) other than that the trash seemed to be emptied daily and we were given fresh towels every four days. I do miss more frequent housekeeping. The pool also looks very tired and is grubby. It needs a deep clean and probably a full refurb. One time on a bus back from MK the bus wen to Animal kingdom lodge first before OKW the driver didn't warn anyone it was only when the journey seemed to be taking a long time we asked the driver who said it was a "floating" bus. It probably took a good 40 minutes on the bus to get back. Not the best. Also on our final morning a large grass mower woke us up before half 6 am mowing the golf course. Hardly appropriate. Despite this we'd of course love to stay again and just wish the little niggles were not there.

The Old Key West resort is perfect if you are looking for a quiet place to stay at Disney World. There's so much to do onsite that you're doing yourself a disservice if you do not incorporate a few days to enjoy the property. We stayed here for a week with our three young kids in a 1 bedroom villa. Having an entire laundry room was a dream, and I appreciated that Disney provided laundry detergent. The living area is spacious. It's difficult to find hotel rooms that accommodate 5 people conformably, and this is one of the few one bedrooms that did, having an extra chair that turned into a bed. The kitchen was well stocked and even had food storage containers, which is always helpful when you have leftovers! There was so much storage for our groceries and other items. The bathroom was enormous and had both a large soaking tub and a shower. One complaint is that the bathroom counters are gentleman's height, and even with the folding step stool we had packed, my kids could barely wash their hands independently. So, if traveling with young kids, you may also need a step stool and/ or faucet extender. We had rented a car, which made going to the different pools and hospitality house very easy. We did not utilize the bus service within the resort. Our favorite pool, the one near the end of South Point Road, had afternoon shade and a playground. Our kids also loved the main pool with the sandcastle waterslide, but it was a much more lively experience and nice to slow down at one of the other pools. Oddly the main playground doesn't open until 10 AM, which was 3.5 hours after our kids woke up and were ready to start their days, but perhaps the others open earlier. The recreation room had daily activities, and my daughter tie dyed a t shirt and bag. There's a board of daily activities posted near the lobby, and I liked listening to the trivia games by the pool (though I am admittedly not enough of a Disney expert to be competitive!). Parking was fantastic. You basically just park in front of the villa you're staying in and you're steps away from your door. We ordered takeout from the restaurant, and it was great, despite not being as highly rated as some of the other Disney restaurants (that's the problem with Disney- so much good food, so little time!). We also loved the nachos at the Turtle snack shack. The location made it an easy drive to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The Disney level of hospitality is unmatched. It was never a problem to get fresh towels or more supplies for the kitchen or bathroom. I do recommend either accepting housekeeping service or keeping your room very clean. Our kids left some crumbs around and we noticed a couple of tiny cockroaches. After cleaning up, it wasn't an issue. I think the staff is on top of it, but it's Florida! We are excited to be returning to this resort in Jan 2024!

Booked our stay by renting points from a DVC site. Great way to save money. The place is super nice. The vibe is quiet and laidback. The onsite restaurant, Olivia’s, was very good…as was their grab and go pickup location near it. The grounds are well kept and the staff was friendly.
We stayed in a studio, which is their most affordable, and it worked well for us. The room is spacious. There were two queen beds, unlike most other resort studios, which feature a pullout bed for one of the beds. The kitchenette is more like a regular hotel kitchenette, with a mini fridge, microwave, drip coffee maker, a small sink, dish towel & soap, a couple of paper plates, bowls, plastic utensils, coffee cups & cups, paper towels and trash can. Full length mirror on exterior bathroom door. Fairly spacious bathroom with good water pressure. Shampoo/conditioner/body wash was mounted to the wall. It was clean and included a Hey Disney device, similar to Alexa. Small TV with poor sound quality. The property is a lot like clusters of townhouses. Our section had 2nd story (no elevator, but it was fine for us) and had a beautiful water/golf course view. I did see that there were a few 3 story units…nothing higher than that. Beds were comfortable, with 4 pillows per bed. Hair dryer, iron & board included. You can hear the buses go by, so bring a small fan or a sound machine to cover the slight noise. (There’s a ceiling fan, but it’s not loud enough for this.)
My one complaint: there are like 4-5 bus stops within the resort, so just going through the resort takes 10-15 minutes itself. Role drop/early hours is even earlier to get up for bc of this. It’s the price you pay for a spread out, townhouse type resort. We were assigned a room near the Hospitality House area (even though we didn’t pay extra for that) and that bus was dead last for drop off at night. Sometimes we just hopped off at the first stop and walked the little ways to keep from having to go through the whole route.
We resort hopped this visit on our “rest day” and trust me when I say OKW was much less crowded than Polynesian, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Grand Floridian, and Contemporary. I prefer less crowded, personally. The ferry to Disney Springs is great, BTW.

I have been a DVC member for about 10 years now. We go to Disney twice if not three times a year and have been doing so for quite a while now. We usually try different hotels on property to get a feel for the other hotels. Our home hotel is Animal Kingdom. Usually, I am pretty pleased with the Hotels, but unfortunately, this time I was not. The room came up a little short. I work in the Hospitality industry and understand all the challenges it faces especially after covid. We stayed 10 days at the resort and then switched over to another hotel for the remainder of 3 days we had left. We had a problem with the air conditioner the first night. We waited until 4pm to get our room, but when we entered in the room it was 76 degrees. Not sure why the housekeeper didn't say anything about it to the front before we checked in. We went up to talk to the front and they were very accommodating and told us they would handle it. When we came back it was reading 74 so we assumed it was handled, because it was a hot day, and we knew it would never get to 65 degrees for a while. That night the room became unbearably hot to where we couldn't sleep. (80 degrees). The next morning i went back up and talked to someone new and they stated it was fixed but would look into it. Maintenance did fix the problem, and the room stayed cool. This was not a huge problem, but a small inconvenience. We had housekeeping come every day for our trash, which was good. The room did get refreshed, but they never refilled our coffee, replaced our cups, refilled our toilet paper (we had less than 1/4 roll), refilled our sugar, refilled our cutlery, refilled body soap. I called and asked housekeeping for the refills and the lady on the phone was extremely rude about it like I was bothering her. She said they would bring it and after 2.5 hours I called again and the other lady that answered was nice and ran it up within 20 minutes. I understand that everyone might be busy, but we did not go through a lot of items. it doesn't make sense that they wouldn't refill them unless they are short on product. The last thing that put me over the top is I found a cockroach in the bathroom. I understand you can't prevent bugs but come on. It is a cock roach. You would think with the money and loyalty we give Disney every year they would just take care of their guests to keep coming back. We will come back as normal, but I already have a real sour taste in my mouth from it to the point where I really would like to use my timeshare at another location.

This was our first time to Disney World (took 62 years) and the Old Key West Resort. Check in was so easy, we purchased the magic bands and had them ready the day of our trip. Driving into the resort gave us a feeling of coming home. Loved the layout of the buildings and the color palettes, lots of palm trees with a very tropical feel (a lot like the Florida Keys) We were in building 44 (2nd floor, Turtle Pond Road). Stayed in a 1 Bedroom Villa. We were amazed at the layout and “SIZE” of the floor plan. Everything looked cleaned and welcoming! When traveling, especially when you are going for a first time, I have some apprehensions on how accurate reviews, photos and videos are (no matter how much research has been done) until you are at the destination. We couldn’t have more pleased. We had a view of a pond when looking out the sliding glass doors or out on the patio. The patio was larger than most patios. The only thing that would have been better is that the patio chairs were all metal (hard to sit on long). If not the best, then one of the best, places we have ever stayed. Housekeeping came in everyday and tidied up even though we said just new towels would be acceptable. Parking was great, right in front of the building. Bus stop was a 3 minute walk from our building. We used the boat ride to Disney Springs (after dark) which was very a nice amenity and real easy to use (both going and coming back). The transportation system is flawless (very easy to use and navigate, well marked) and runs like a well oiled clock. Room safe is smaller than other resorts. Washer and dryer came in real handy! The bedroom has a door that opens out onto the patio. The resort was quiet and well maintained. We will definitely stay here again at some point. Hated to leave.

My husband and I recently spent a few nights at Disney’s Old Key West on a whim after spending the rest of our vacation week in another part of Florida. We’ve stayed at many Disney properties, so since OKW had last-minute rooms available and we hadn’t stayed there before, we decided to give it a try.

We had a basic 2-Queen studio in the Turtle Pond area of the resort. Our room was spacious compared to some of the other Disney resorts we’ve stayed at, but we found the decor kind of dingy and outdated (besides the bathroom, which looked like it had been recently updated). Many other Disney resorts have been outfitted with USB ports, but our room at OKW only had one, and it was nowhere near the bed.

The resort grounds are beautiful! The resort itself is huge, though, and very spread out. It seems to have been designed for those with cars, and is not ideal for those who didn’t rent/bring a car. You can use the park bus system as a resort bus, and I highly recommend doing that. The bus stops have signs that outline the bus routes so you can determine which busses you can use to get from your room to the main resort areas and back.

The main pool didn’t have quite the same vibe as the other Disney Deluxe resorts we’ve stayed at. It’s pretty small relative to the size of the resort, and doesn’t have a zero-entry area like many other Disney resorts do. The bar is also not directly in the pool area, but outside of the gate. The hot tub is really large, though, and there is also a sauna.

We ate at Olivia’s one night. The decor is, again, very dated. However, the food was really good, so we’d definitely consider coming back again for dinner during a future Disney trip.

This was a couple’s trip, so the resort worked fine for the two of us. However, I don’t think we’d come back with the kids. We felt the other Deluxes we stayed at were more family friendly and easier to get around.

I met my mother in Florida and we went to Disney World for a week. I've stayed at many Disney properties, but this was my first visit to Old Key West. It's the oldest DVC resort on Disney property, but it's been well maintained through the years. There are some things in the room that need renovating (the closet door came off the track twice while we were there,) the exterior door shows some rust and dents, and the door stop on the patio has dry rotted with time. Those things aside, this is a great place to stay. Because it's old, it has such beautiful, mature landscaping. It was so pleasant to relax on the little porch and look out into nature and at the golfers in the distance. It's a nice, quiet retreat when visiting Disney. The property is spread out, but the Disney bus picks up at several locations so you are never far from transportation. While there isn't a separate internal bus system, you can get on any bus going to a park or Disney Springs to reach your desired section of the complex. There is also a boat that you can catch from the Hospitality House that will take you to Disney Springs. I stayed in building 29 in room 2910. It was in the Peninsular Road area and fairly close to the Hospitality House (the main area with a store, restaurant, themed pool, arcade, & sauna) without being right next to it. I stayed in a studio. It had 2 (very comfortable!) Queen beds (this is rare at Disney as most resorts have 1 bed and a sleeper sofa or a murphy bed for the 2nd bed.) My studio also had a table and chairs, which was handy for meals or for crafting (my mom & I used our downtime away from the parks to make greeting cards.) As far as the kitchenette, there was a mini-fridge (one that actually keeps things cold!,) a microwave, a toaster, and a coffee maker. The kitchen area also had a small sink for cleanup complete with a sponge and dish soap. Other included items were coffee, paper plates, and paper towels. The bathroom was large with a tub/shower combo and a retractable clothes line. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel were provided in pump bottles attached to the wall. Overall it's a great place to stay! One caveat: your peacefulness is somewhat dependent on your neighbors and that is true especially if you stay in a studio. The studio is a lock-off unit with a connecting door to the 1 bedroom condo next door so there is little insulation between the rooms. You can even hear things like people putting away silverware in their kitchen. We were lucky for the 1st half of our stay and heard very little from next door. The 2nd half of the week we had a family with very loud children and teens move in. I do not remember having this problem at other DVC properties, specifically Kidani at Animal Kingdom Lodge or at the Boardwalk Villas. I think the properties are designed a little bit differently. That said, I would definitely take the chance and stay there again.

Beautiful resort and rooms. Busses were a bit crowded and took long to get through the huge resort. There are many stops.
The good: Very nice resort, pool area, Gift shop, Small bar and take out food onsite. Plenty of nice areas to sit. I had the 2 bedroom suite, which fit 7 adults comfortably. It had a nice desk to sit outside. The Bad: Olivia's restaurant (onsite) was overpriced and understaffed. Food was okay and atmosphere was great. Housekeeping does not exist unless you call. They do not clean the rooms, so every night after returning from a long day at their parks, you have the same trash and unmade beds you left in the morning. Unacceptable for the price you pay for these accommodations. I called and they said they do a trash and towel check every day, which isn't true. One night I had to wait over an hour for towels so we could take a shower. Resorts like this still taking advantage of covid rules is ridiculous! You book a "Deluxe resort" so you don't have to see old trash, towels on the floor and unmade beds! I called several times and said "I want housekeeping everyday" and they just talk over you and confuse you with excuses and nonsense. The boat service is good for Epcot, but not other parks. For those parks, you have to take the buses.

Ok, so first I should say that we are DVC members for the past 20 years, and have stayed at OKW at least 10 times. This is a great resort that we have always enjoyed. Frankly, within WDW/ DVC offerings, the points vs. square foot ratio is the best at this resort. This is a very large resort that has four pools, numerous buildings, and many bus stops. . The kids will enjoy the huge main pool up by check-in, more than the calmer satellite pools. This resort is always spotless and clean.

Olivia's Restaurant is not the star of the WDW dining offerings. The menu is limited, overpriced, and kinda boring. The pool bars are just OK. We make good use of our kitchens when we are staying at this resort.

NOTE: 1) They have removed the make-up mirrors. I loved those. 2) ALWAYS run an empty load in the clothes washer before putting your own clothes in it. I have ruined some nice clothes in the washer during this most recent trip. People apparently wash some really filthy clothing while here. This was not Disney's fault. 3) There were three golf ball holes in the siding in the building next to us. There must be terrible golfers at WDW. 4) Even if you put the "OCCUPIED" sign on the door, the Disney staff will enter your room every day, no matter what. I feel violated every time they do this. This will happen at any Disney resort and not just OKW, but it still bears mentioning.

“Welcome home” is an understatement! This resort was so chill-from the minute we stepped on the shuttle bus and heard Jimmy Buffet songs-to the laundry room in our one bedroom suite. It was a central place to get to all the 4 parks and Disney Springs. Loved the spaciousness! Highly recommend

The twin sleeper chair is in the living room, right next to the queen sleeper sofa. The master bedroom on that floor does not have another bed. Upstairs one bedroom has 2 double beds and the other one has 2 queen beds.

My answer comes from my daughter who is DVC many years. She thinks buses are better even to get food at the main building. Food is also available by the pools. Walking around is easy with a stroller. The Interior bus locations were excellent having accurate times posted for next bus if you want to bus it. The rooms are well equipped for making microwave foods & mini fridge ( or full kitchen). You are a fun boat ride to Disney Springs with tons of food options too. Minnie Vans, Uber & Lyft are good transportation options especially at the end of the day when kiddos are tired. Minnie Vans with have better access. My daughter also would order a case of water, Mac n cheese, ++ prime amazon they deliver it to the front desk and keep items cold. Bell service will deliver. She like Dizzy Dolphin & customize order & will deliver directly to your room if you’re there. So in answering your question I would not rent a car & spend that $$$ on transportation if you need it. Have a Magical Time

Yes. As at every Disney Deluxe Resort, there are big bins of clean towels, and bins where you toss them when you leave the pool area.

Hi, glad to help in any way that I can. As it happens, both the sleeper chair and the Pull-out Sofa are more than long and wide enough to accommodate your sons. The Pull-out Sofa is a Queen size, and the sleeper chair is a twin size; both are very comfortable and are already situated for optimum television viewing. Either way, both chairs seem to be plenty large enough to accommodate (there are also spare pillows and blankets in the master bedroom closet, but you can request additional blankets from housekeeping as well). I hope this information was helpful. Have a Wonderful time at Disney World and "Welcome Home"!

No ciscounts. However, you should buy your tickets BEFORE arriving, and link them to your My Disney Experience account. Then you MUST make reservations at the parks you want to visit! Do not make the mistake of arriving without park reservations---you may not be able to get into the parks you want to visit!
