Went to help some friends set up and they tried to charge us $5 per person just to visit. Shockingly rude and abusive staff. Some of them clearly have anger issues. Definitely will not be coming back. Do not recommend.
What rude and awful staff. Especially the receptionist. Tried charging us $5 each to help our friends setup, very greedy obviously. Do not recommend. Nice location but the office lady is extremely rude
Drove down to the beachfront with kayaks and saw that there was nowhere to park - however for $5 we could park in the camp ground. So off I went with my $5 and asked to park for a few hours. Well oh dear... The woman at the office looked at me as if I was a worm that had crawled up to her door. She snatched my money and told me to park "at the back out of the way" Her general demeanor meant I felt very unwelcome and wondering why they were offering parking when it seemed to upset them so much. Would not come back and have found somewhere else to park next time. :(
We had a cabin in this lovely absolute beachfront camp site. The cabin was simple but had everything we needed or expected, including a magnificent view of the sea. Shared facilities were well maintained and clean. We just swam and walked, but the area is clearly a magnet for people wanting to boat and fish. A week here would be perfect.
This is a beautiful part of the world, and the camp is literally road-end -exclusy and secluded end of BOI. Hence I was AMAZED by the price (5nights, unpowered site $110) AND the showers were free. I stayed the first few nights up the gully- quieter, subtle and removed from the family encampments en mase. The noises of the grazing aminals and ruru (moreporks) the only disturbances. My last couple of days I moved to dress circle and beach front -louder sea sounds, no ruru. Whole different vibe too. Both fabulous. The staff - extended whanau- were ever present and helpful. Kitchens and bathrooms are fantastically clean- staff always milling round. Theres clear, simple multi-stream recycling (bonus points!) Was somewhat horrifically busy over the stat day holidays, but off peak its quiet, personal and adoring. I will return, and I will recommend.…
