Detailed Reviews
Stayed two night here in this beautiful part of West Coast NZ.
The lodge is very well located to all activities in the area and only 10 mins down the road from Westport.
Great place to relax and put your feet up too with a book or go on one of the many walks.
The hosts are very friendly, helpful and I would highly recommend staying here.
Clean, comfortable & quiet premises with nothing lacking.
A must stay.

We recently stayed at Charleston lodge for 1 night and it was an incredibly peaceful and welcoming place to stay. Fiona is lovely, her friendliness, kindness and hospitality towards us was greatly appreciated. The rooms are comfortable and amenities functional.

We took a budget option as there was nothing else available. It involved a comfortable and clean room, shared kitchen and bathroom. As it happened we didn't have to share anything. Fiona was very accommodating and we would recommend this as a good option for travelers.

We chose the Lodge because it advertised itself as dog friendly but we found it to be human friendly too. Fiona is a delightful host and makes you feel very welcome. She gave some brilliant advice only a local would know and we found our three day stay to be jam packed with fascinating and "wow" experiences. The sunset into the sea was simply breath-taking.

This was just a one night stopover, on our way to Franz Joseph. The motel was very clean and perfectly adequate. Fresh milk was provided. The host was very friendly and informative. Considering how close to the road it is, it's also very quiet.
The tavern next door was the only place for food, fortunately, it was good too!

The warmest welcome from hosts Fiona & Russell was a great start to a long weekend of bush walking, stunning views and brilliant sunsets. Fiona was full of ideas of how we could spend our time with excellent local knowledge of the walks, plants, & bird life. We were privileged to see two pods of hectors dolphins before returning for a quiet wine. A great spot I only wished that had more time. Looking forward to the pub opening and will definitely be back.

Had a really good couple of days here. It has a nice relaxing atmosphere and Fiona is a lovely host. The bed was comfortable had the first sleep in I've had in awhile. The beach is stunning so make sure you have a look while you're there. Went next door to the tavern for dinner and it's also an awesome wee place. Heaps of walks and things to see here

We had a wonderful, very relaxed and comfortable stay.
Fiona is not only helpful, and thoughtful..but a lovely person.
Although the room is dated, everything was spotlessly clean.
The tavern next door, also serves reasonable meals, but not breakfast.

Comfortable and clean. As it was a short stopover, we took Fiona’s advice and did an early morning coastal walk. Crisp and breathtaking. The soup meal at the tavern next door was just right. Will certainly call again if we venture that way again.
