An Iconic long established Welsh country hotel, set in farmland on a headland 2 miles outside the popular sailing village of Abersoch. Now entering its 76th season, the hotel exudes old school charm & style with modern twists; lovely antique country antiques, watercolours and fresh flowers. With a continuous Good Food Guide entry since 1957, food here has always been very important. From fine dining & light suppers in the evening through to alfresco casual dining at lunch time looking out over the bay, Porth Tocyn offers so much. Families too are well catered for with a separate children's room where we lay on high teas for younger guests. The outdoor heated swimming pool (mid May to mid September) is set in lovely gardens. The Wales coastal footpath passes right in front of the hotel. The beach is just five minutes walk away. So it is great for dog walkers too.

What a gem, absolutely full of charm! We were staying in a holiday rental home in Abersoch itself and visited Porth Tocyn for lunch one day. Loving the food, service and atmosphere we decided to book in for the night so we could carry on enjoying it!

We had a lovely sea view room with such a comfortable bed- very nicely decorated with good quality furniture and bedding.

The great service and food continued over dinner that night and breakfast the following morning. The dinner was delicious, offering a good choice of well sourced ingredients prepared by a talented kitchen, with lovely touches such as canapés and a cleansing sorbet course. Breakfast was also very good with plenty of choice.

As well as the friendly team, and great food, what sets Porth Tocyn apart is its charm. There’s nothing blingy or showy, it all just feels “right”. The family who own and run it were always on hand, and they obviously care deeply about keeping their guests happy. They managed to strike just the right note with regards to Covid precautions, well thought through measures which didn’t intrude or detract.

Thankyou Porth Tocyn for a lovely mini mini break!

Having booked a last minute break staying at the Porth Tocyn Hotel we were pleasantly surprised from start to finish the staff, owners both Henry and his wife were welcoming, friendly and vey helpful. The hotel is set away from the main town and so provides a peaceful and serene environment. The views from the hotel are wonderful and the location allows you to either take beautiful walks in to the town or along the coastal path. As a family of five including our dog the hotel was highly suitable and catered for all our needs. Entertainment in the games room and availability of the tennis court kept the kids active in short bursts. We went for the bed and breakfast option and the breakfast did not disappoint, good options available and the staff were only too happy to go the extra mile to ensure the children had options too not available on the menu. Henry, Mr Fletcher- Brewer and the team were all excellent hosts and really helpful with places to visit or things to do in the local area. The hotel also had a wonderful restaurant with quality dishes and strong selection of wines!! Overall I would highly recommend Porth Tocyn Hotel. Thanks Henry (PS the Penderyn was a huge hit!!)

A quick visit in late September although it was our twenty ninth time over as many years. We clearly know the place well and we value the continuity provided by the Fletcher-Brewer family over the nigh on three decades we have been visiting.

Of course, this year is a strange one but the Porth Tocyn team have clearly spent many hours (some of them probably anguished) working out how they can provide security and confidence to their guests while providing at least some of the continuity that many of their guests seek.
There is no doubt that they have achieved this, my wife and I felt safe at all times and enjoyed the ambiance, views and food. We find ourselves pleased that Porth Tocyn has come through the crisis of 2020 so well and will undoubtedly hit the thirtieth visit some time next year.

The hotel is beautifully situated overlooking Abersoch and towards Snowdonia and the Harlech Dome. It is quiet, out of the way and has an outdoor heated swimming pool which, with Covid restrictions, we could book for one hour private slots. It was June but the warm water was much appreciated even by the grand children!
There was also a full size, bookable Tennis court. No charge for either facility for staying Guests.
The rooms were varied and traditional with a homely feel. The food was excellent and varied and meals could be taken in the Restaurant or on the Terrace.
I have stayed in some the world's top hotel hotels such as the Oriental in Bangkok and the Jumeira Beach in Dubai but for a restful week's holiday I would pick the Porth Tocyn every time!

A hidden gem and total delight! Porth Tocyn offers comfortable accommodation, delicious food and charming hosts who immediately make you feel at home. The view from the hotel is spectacular and the beach is only a short walk away. It’s also worth noting that all staff were extremely conscientious in following social distancing guidelines and went to great lengths to ensure government guidelines were followed in the midst of COVID-19. We will, without doubt, be back! Special thanks to Henry and Anne who couldn’t have looked after us better!

There's nowhere like Porth Tocyn. The welcome guests receive from its owners is like being greeted by old friends. Henry and Kelly perfectly balance comfy informality - with open fires, bookshelves everywhere to help yourself to, little nooks everywhere to curl up in and always chats in the cosy bar with staff and fellow guests - with a sharp eye for quality: the hotel is spotlessly clean and timelessly furnished with the smell of polish and fresh flowers everywhere, beds are so comfortable and the food is out of this world. When you discover it, you know you have hit on something good: many guests have been coming for years. It has everything for our family: our 5 year old and 7 year old love it here and they are also well looked after (so that grown ups get plenty of adult time) with special kids tea, their own bunk bed room, a well stocked playroom and Abersoch's beautiful beach on the doorstep. There is honestly nowhere like it - not for the first time, we travelled 6 hours to get here and feel so rested now, despite the drive home! Can't wait for next time.

Phenomenal quality of service, stunning location, attention to detail really high, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff and amazing food throughout, best breakfast we've had anywhere and fine dining in the evening, we also had a picnic prepared which was delicious. Great for families with plenty of little tucked away areas for privacy if required. Lovely pool. Returning soon (not soon enough).

My husband and I had a terrific stay at Easter. We left feeling very relaxed, full and happy. We brought out 10 month old daughter and all of the staff were really welcoming and we felt extremely at ease. The room was comfortable, had everything we needed and we loved the newly done up bathroom! The views from the hotel are stunning, we had a lovely walk on the beach and enjoyed popping into the centre of abersoch for some shopping. We ate in the dining room and the food was superb. We hope to return!

All I can do really is to echo the very positive reviews of others - Porth Tocyn is a well-run, luxury hotel and the food is excellent. Of the three hotels we stayed at on our recent trip to this part of Wales, this was easily our favourite. There were one or two niggles, but nothing serious. In a hotel in this price range, I would have expected bottled water and bathrobes, but neither were provided. (Both the other two hotels we stayed at did provide these amenities.) Our main problem, though, was the hot water supply - we prefer evening baths, but there was only enough hot water for one. (We solved the problem by one of us having an evening bath and the other a morning shower!) We mentioned the problem to the owner when we left and he was surprised; he said that one possibility was that a short power outage might have upset the settings on one of the holding tanks. I note that no other reviewers have mentioned this as a problem, so i assume that it affected only our room and was indeed a blip. It certainly didn't affect our enjoyment of this excellent hotel and we would certainly return if we have another short break on Llyn.

We had a really lovely, relaxing stay at the hotel for four nights with our two small children.

Highlights:
Walking distance to an absolutely stunning sandy beach great for swimming
The ride on kids cars (we could sit out and have a drink while they played)
The heated outdoor swimming pool (very secluded)
The family room (perfect as there was a door between our room and the kids, extremely quiet and amazing views)
The bedding and towels (so soft)
The breakfast (healthy options and high quality ingredients)
The friendly chatty, family orientated atmosphere, staff and guests alike
Very safe small hotel for families, meant the kids could roam free a little
The gorgeous peninsular location and views of the surrounding wild flower meadows, sea and also mountains in the distance
Running along the cliff tops every morning before breakfast and watching the dolphins splashing about in the sea

We would definitely like to come back in the future! Thank you to Henry and all the team.
