The hotel has a special character, mixing old and modern. From a classic room, we had the chance to be upgraded to the junior suite whose dimensions allow the organization of a mini ball! The room is well equipped with air conditioning, double series of shutters (outdoor and indoor), a very large bed extremely comfortable and a beautiful bathroom. Our room overlooked a quiet little inner street for a good restful night. The front desk staff is absolutely charming and very helpful. The explanations received in English were very clear and precise. The hotel has a very good free private parking. Breakfast is exceptional in terms of choice and fresh or homemade products. Whatever the time, there is always everything. When something is missing, just ask:o)! The staff is super attentive, warm and helpful! The restaurant (we ate there two nights) is excellent. Radda offers plenty of possibilities to eat very well outside the hotel (Olinto, Bottega del Eroica and Bottega Di Colle). The hotel does not have a bar but offers a self-service limited to wines. No problem, because Sandy’s Bar is located 100 meters away and offers good draft beer with stunning views of the valley! Radda is ideally located near Siena and San Gimignano with all the advantages of a village and a city (restaurant, shops). We will gladly return.

There is a lot to like here with some quirks that are to be expected in such an old building. We had a 2-room suite that was clean and quite large, though on the quirky side, the bathroom was quite small. However the shower had a fantastic rain overhead spray with great water pressure. The bathroom also had a towel warmer though it wasn’t working. The highlight of our room was the enormous private terrace overlooking the valley. Beds & pillows were comfortable enough and the linens and towels were high quality. On the quirky side—the AC unit threw off enough light that it kept the room from being dark at night which did inhibit a really great night’s sleep. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The spa was mediocre—overbooked, noisy and not relaxing at all. Definitely wouldn’t go back to the spa, but we’d definitely ok a hotel stay again.

My friend and I spent 3 nights in this lovely resort. The views and city is breathtaking. Unfortunately we were visiting in the off season and most restaurants and shops were not open.

Pros: We spent an afternoon in the spa. Each guest can reserve 90 minutes of uninterrupted time using the indoor pool, saunas and showers. It was very relaxing.

The hotel restaurant was beautiful and prepared delicious meals. I highly recommend a dinner here one night.

We participated in the Tuscan Cooking Class. It was a wonderful time and our meal was delicious. Thank you Barbara for hosting us! You are an exceptional woman.

Due to the off season, we were kindly upgraded to a suite and junior suite. Thank you!!!

Tip: You must have a car when you are in this part of the country. This was my first time in Europe and our travel agent didn’t prepare us for that one! We spent a lot of extra money finding a car service and taxi.

There is a bus to Siena. You can purchase tickets at the Tabacchi across the street. Please note: the return bus is at the train station! It is not where you are dropped off. Bus 125 is what you should look for.

Cons: This former palace is old. Beautifully maintained, however you can really hear your neighbors. Given the age of the resort, doors do not always close easily to try and block out the sound.

I would not avoid staying here because of this. Just be prepared.

Thank you for a lovely stay. You have all been so kind and helpful to us!

This was our third stay at the Palazzo Leopoldo in the past 16 years. We loved it the first two visits but it was unfortunately not as good this time. Front desk staff was dismissive at best and the blonde male evening attendant was rude. Despite being a “spa” only body wash is provided in the room; no lotion or conditioner even on request. Our very favorite restaurant in all our visits to Italy, LaPerla, no longer had a great menu and the food was just ok. Despite beautiful warm weather the very charming patio was not open for breakfast, dinner or even a drink. We used the private pool which was lovely, but the Leopoldo now charges $2.50 to rent a towel, and the pool deck was so slippery that my husband fell into the pool. All of this was shared with the manager at check out and met with a flat stare. Hoping it will return to its previous charm, great food and customer service in the future.

We were in this location for the first time, our experience was negative from all points of view. We opted for a Deluxe, to reach the room located on the roof of the structure, you arrive via a series of steep steps (without an internal lift) if you do it a couple of times you'll have a heart attack... as well as being dangerous... ! The room wasn't very clean, we found dust everywhere. At the reception we asked to use the indoor swimming pool where its use is only 45"....! Just enough time to feel the temperature of the water, imagine if we were to take a holiday for a few days what benefits... .! and only upon reservation...! We didn't have this pleasure because it was evidently already booked (inadequate management). located in the same structure, but you have to leave the hotel to go to an external spa, use the changing room etc. of a unique discomfort, also considering the not exactly hot temperatures present in the hills ... in Radda in Chianti. To finish the breakfast, poor in saltiness, low quality cured meats and there is no raw ham, furthermore the bacon eggs were overcooked, so the egg was dry (not soft, usually to keep it soft you use a little of milk), for the bacon not even a trace, it was not present, instead wrustel. Evidently the strong presence of foreign customers (American and French) like to eat like this. Not recommended, it is not suitable for Italian customers.

Stayed 5 nights at this location, upgraded to a wonderful suite, Staff was efficient and helpful, especially so with Davide. A bit of an adventure finding reception, there are three properties of the same name within a few meters, but we were finally able to find the right one. If a good wi fi connection is not a priority for you, upgrade the rating to 4, otherwise, be prepared for spotty connectivity and signal once connected. And last, if you want coffee, bring your own. No in room coffee service.
Parking is free just outside the ZTL

I stayed with my partner only one night, luckily. The room rate was around 300 euros/night. As soon as we took possession of the room we immediately noticed some noises of incessant rushing of water coming from the wall which showed no signs of abating. However, we decide to wait until after dinner to understand if they were caused by the SPA below... Unfortunately they continue until 1 am in concert with the loud music from the little place under the window, so, exasperated, we call the receptionist who 1) confirms who did some work in our room and 2) found us another room in a group property a few minutes walk from the hotel. We accept and, sleepy and tired, at 1.30 we set off towards the new accommodation which was of much lower quality than the one we had previously paid for (the stucco was falling off the wall and it was smaller). The next morning, having informed the management of what had happened, we were paid off with a red Chianti wine of around 17/18 Euros as "compensation and apology" for the infernal night. On the part of the structure, absolute disinterest in truly apologizing and/or applying a discount (supporting a clumsy excuse relating to separate accounts between the spa and the hotel...) to two customers who were made to spend a sleepless night. This too is Palazzo Leopoldo and the growing negative reviews for the structure are no coincidence. 4/5 star structures work differently and put the customer at the centre. Avoid if you can.

A 5-star price for 2-star room and a hotel service even below 1 star. They even have forgotten to clean the room in a hotel over 170 euros per night. The hotel staff is only interested on offering pay services, but the room itself is far far away of the images they sold. This hotel clearly does not deserve a visit.

We stayed for two nights in February. The young team were very helpful and the restaurant (pretty much the only one open in Radda at the time) was busy and very good. Breakfast also excellent. The only thing to be aware of is that the rooms and luxury is not quite as presented on the website. We had a superior room, but the facilities were pretty basic. No tea/coffee facilities, bathrobes etc that you might expect from the way in which the hotel is presented. There is a fridge in the room though. The furniture is a bit battered - but at the end of the day everything was functional and you are not paying luxury prices. Four stars for service, restaurant and value

This is a top notch hotel all the way around. Great location, you can walk everywhere. Boutique style hotel with beautiful rooms, spectacular breakfast, rooftop deck to enjoy a cocktail and sunset. The spa is tremendous and every room includes 45 minutes and a private cool pool in an underground cave. The staff will bend over backwards to please you. I highly recommend. Five stars from us!
