This is a fantastic resort. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Rianne and Chloe helped make our stay special. The cuisine was outstanding along with the service. A great place to relax and decompress on busy trip to New Zealand and Australia.

This was our 3rd visit to BOMC but this time we took advantage of the three day stay in the bay package with an added extra night. It did not disappoint. The position of the resort and the rooms are amazing. We had the most relaxing time. Nothing is too much trouble and all staff go out their way to help make your stay perfect. The team are all fantastic. The food is superb from breakfast to dinner each evening. The best food we’ve ever had. There is so much to do in and around the sounds. All our trips were organised by the team so every detail is taken care of. The resort is a dream for wildlife lovers, we saw dolphins, seals, stingray, hermit crabs, starfish, all kinds of fish, and the bird life is incredible. And all of this without actually leaving the resort. We could go and on but needless to say we will return and would not hesitate to recommend Bay of Many Coves to anyone. Paradise with the most amazing staff. A massive thank you to you all!

I don’t know what I was expecting from the Bay of Many Coves; the truth is that I hadn’t really focused on this part of our tour around the South Island. What we got was the most fabulous couple of days in a stunning hotel nestled at the end of a bay teeming with wildlife and views that defy belief. Each morning, because I was awake before dawn, I made my way to the jetty to watch the sunrise and the birds skim and dart around, including swimming around the dock chasing fish. The room (we were in room 101) was great. It had everything you could want, from a large comfy bed and great sitting area to sumptuous views over the water. The laundry room, free for guests to use, was a great touch, particularly for people who are on long trips. The food was delicious - both breakfast and dinner - but the real winner was the staff. They were all extremely welcoming and attentive and willing to chat to guests. Special mention has to go to Meghan, Sam and James who were all really lovely and genuine. As we left on the boat, I tried to fix the view back to the hotel in my mind. I don’t know when I’ll be back, but certainly it can’t be soon enough.

This was a quiet, lovely retreat, where the Staff were kind, welcoming and helpful. We had a lovely room with a beautiful view of the sound, fresh bay air streaming in and were grateful we had chosen this spot. We were there in the Spring so probably more busy in the Summer and would maybe have a different feel then, but we were able to get good nature adventures in and all at the right pace. Taking the water taxis to Princess Charlotte track is recommended as the hike from the hotel is a bit too step and wet. Also recommended is the E-ko tours that come to the dock and take you to dolphin and bird watching adventures. And the staff were truly lovely.

That's a great summary of a great stay! Even though there is a lot to do, from marine and wildlife tours to private fishing charters and even scenic helicopter flights, sometimes the best thing to do is to take in the views from your private deck and enjoy some of our local collection of wines, spirits or non-alcoholic beverages.

The Spa and pool were not heated Only Degustation menus available for dinner Forgot to refill the mini bar every day Lack of your information and timings Not really worth the excessive cost to stay here at a remote location such as this Also the Sky TV in our room did not work and we could not watch the Rugby semi final between Argentina and All Blacks

Hi Jet, I’m sorry to hear that you were frustrated that the hot tub was not warm enough. Our maintenance guy came out immediately to fix the issue when this was addressed. Unfortunately the hot tub takes some time to heat up. Luckily our heated pool was still operating. Also, our apologies for the mini bar and lack of information. We advice our guests upon on arrival with information about the timings and refer to our compendium in your room with all the information about the resort. We are always a call or a small walk away. Our neighbours and other in-house guests enjoyed the all blacks game on our big screen in the Quaterdeck lounge, i'm sorry that you were not aware of this. Please give me a call directly and we would like to invite you both another time.

Accommodation and service were all first rate. We were allocated a two-bedroom unit (which we didn't need). The staff were all delightful including some temporary ones from overseas - we had a particularly helpful waitress from the Czeck Republic. Catering was also excellent including the 5-course degustation dinners and the more than ample breakfasts. We were delighted by the provision of a delicious birthday cake. The major negative was the persistently wet weather (for which we cannot blame the resort or staff!). It was a very expensive weekend and we were mildly surprised that boat transport from Picton was not automatically included given its necessity. Nevertheless, it was a memorable way to celebrate a birthday.

We went to celebrate my partner's birthday and had an indescribable experience at BMC. Every detail and service provided by the team who were attentive, kind, polite and always very happy. From booking and making requests taking into account our dietary restrictions, to our departure on the arranged boat, everything was offered with excellence. Super tasty and fresh breakfast menu, fruits, juices and hot plates. Personalized service, the 5-course dinners surprised us, fresh ingredients and always tasty, excellent wine aromatization at the birthday dinner, chef and host, thank you very much, you were wonderful. Very comfortable bed, air-conditioned room, wonderful views, surrounded by the sound of birds throughout the day. Various items available in the rooms, non-alcoholic drinks included. Not to mention the hot pool, available all day, which we had the pleasure of enjoy it before dinner. Thank you all, Lilian and Steve Keel

Thank you for the great review! I've been told the birthday cake looked as good as it tasted. Come back next year for double the amount of layers on the cake. Our dinner menu changes frequently, and we are aiming to source most of our ingredients locally. Combine your next trip with an adventure activity in the Sounds or what about a massage treatment? Thank you once more and hope to welcome you again. The team at the BOMC

My wife and I spent 3 nights at Bay of Many Coves in late September. The resort was not very crowded yet, as we were just a bit earlier than high season. It was hands down, one of the very best travel experiences we’ve ever had. The setting is spectacular, the resort itself is sumptuous and yet feels comfortable and decidedly un-stuffy. The nightly feast at the restaurant was world class, and one evening in particular was the best meal we’ve ever eaten. Our QC Track expedition for one day was smoothly arranged and handled, our water taxis all arranged invisibly, the sack lunch was thoughtful and delicious. But the most remarkable aspect of our visit was the consistently gracious people. From the office to the restaurant to the housekeepers and grounds staff and just EVERYONE took time to speak with us, make us feel welcome, show an interest in the birds, wildlife and trails we were enjoying … and just generally go above and beyond to pave our every step with genuine friendliness and utter welcoming hospitality. We’ve either adopted Chef Kerry, or she has adopted us, we’re not quite sure. The meals were aimed right at our amazed palates, especially when we started expressing our gustatory delight. BOMC is not an inexpensive place to stay, but we felt ever so much richer after our visit. Worth every penny.

From the welcome to the departure the staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. It was raining on arrival and they had umbrellas. We didn’t have to lift a finger with our luggage. We were given clear instructions on restaurants and timings and it was such a nice touch to have the wharf as an any time coffee area. This came in handy before and after our boat trip around the Marlborough Sounds, organised on our request the night before by the manager. The paths and gardens were beautifully kept and well lit. The bed was exceptional and underfloor heating in the bathroom was very welcome in the middle of winter. I would definitely recommend BOMC to the discerning traveller.
