Wow when we came into the bay and I saw our stunning resort I was breathless! Our location was mind blowing from the beautiful gardens, plentiful bird life, clear blue water, and fresh clean air, so tranquil. Our rooms were very clean and tidy well presented and extremely comfortable. The staff were super friendly and throughout our stay went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed what was on offer. We were part of a large group and took advantage of a half day charted fishing trip during our stay. This was a huge highlight and we were extremely spoilt with great weather and huge blue cod. Absolutely magic time, unfortunately we were very disappointed with the extremely rude head chef who was not very willing to cook the fresh filleted fish. We were shocked at how he treated his fellow staff in front of guests and his unwilling attitude to please .It was embarrassing and uncomfortable and we felt for Rianne and Aaron who had been outstanding representation of what Bay of Many Coves Resort is advertise to offer, they tried their best to compensate for his lack of effort and poor attitude. I definitely agree with previous review in that the food was mainly of a high standard but a change of menu over a three day stay would have been expected. We would love to come back but would enquire as to what changes have been made in the kitchen first.

Lots of happy surprises here. The boat trip in became a wildlife experience. The apartment was totally private in a gorgeous setting. The food was fantastic and the service personal and delightful. Package was great value for money.

The location of this property is idyllic. The front of house staff could not be more helpful . We were a fairly large group and they were able to adapt and sort us out with an area in their cafe specifically for us so that we could watch the rugby . They suggested other activities we asked about ,and called water taxis and tour organisers for us. When serving food or drinks they were attentive without being intrusive. The food was good but in the 3 days we were resident the menu did not change - for a trip billed as a luxury escape we had expected this. Our group had a fishing trip out and caught an amazing amount of beautiful fish - the head chef was completely underwhelmed - the way he spoke to the front of house staff when they tried to take the fish bin into the kitchen was insulting - he needs a lesson in manners. Our fish was eventually cooked for us after some negotiation. The following day the front of house staff again went above and beyond and organised the cafe room for our use and asked the kitchen to cook the rest of our fish for lunch at a nominal extra cost - this fish was cooked perfectly and it did not go unnoticed that the sous chefs appeared to be in charge at that point. That being said , he was the only fly in a luxurious dish of ointment - we would go back!

The Resort is about a 40 min water taxi ride from Picton. On arrival we were looked after by Rianne who showed us to our room. All the rooms have views out to the bay & are very comfortable with bush right up to the door so we had a few Wekas visit. At nights you wander down to the restaurant for lovely meals & Aaron served us well with wines to match 5 course meal which the chef cooked to perfection. During the day you can enjoy a long breakfast on the deck or room service & head out to walk some of the Queen Charlotte walks. Rianne will organise the water taxis & picnic lunch. We were extremely lucky to see about 50 dolphins swimming and jumping out of the water to and from our walks, then they swam past the resort again. The walks are quite long 5 hours & up and down through bush but very peaceful. If go in winter season from May there are less water taxis so need to make sure you have plenty of time to finish your walks before the last taxi. Once back at Resort you can have a hot tub or summer swim in sea or in the pool. There are also a few fairly steep walks you can do from lodge or just relax and read a book. The rooms have T V comfi beds nice rain shower & nice rugs if cooler. Lavender on pillows & yummy chocolate to come back to after dinner. Binoculars in room were great for spotting dolphins & bird life. Was just a lovely break for anyone needing some pampering and back to nature time. Just lovely to relax slow down & talk to the birds. There is a spa also for any tired muscles after a walk. Beautiful part of New Zealand Bay of Many Coves & we feel very grateful to have stayed at such a magical place & unwind. Thanks to all staff who looked after us.

The accomodation was an excellent standard with incredible views, comfy beds, very clean and everything that you could possibly need was there. We will definitely return.
