Le Lagoto Resort & Spa is located on the big island of Savai'i, Samoa, on a secluded white sand beach, fringed by coconut palms and crystal clear water. We are a boutique resort with 10 Samoan-style bungalows and a family room -- each offering the modern conveniences of a large resort in an intimate, idyllic setting. It is with good reason, and much pride, that we take the name Le Lagoto -- Samoan for 'sunsets' -- as ours are truly sensational! As we say here, 'you haven't been to Samoa unless you are in Savai'i'.

We called ourselves the wandering hobos after walking 45 minutes to find a place to stay after the complete disappointment of our initial prepaid accommodation. This was an oasis . As walk ins they treated us with much respect and upgraded us to a ocean front bungalow. The staff were full of local knowledge and did their utmost to make our Samoan stay comfortable. We missed out on buffet dinners and Samoan bbq Feast due to lack of occupancy of the bungalows at the time we travelled which was a shame but understandable. I would like to extend our thanks to everyone for everything. And the memories to last a lifetime

An unplanned trip away has without a doubt turned out to be one of my best trips away to the most beautiful, tranquil, boutique resort in Savai'i.
Seti & staff have provided us with the utmost excellence in hospitality i have experienced at any resort or hotel in Samoa. I cannot sing enough praises for them going above & beyond to make our experience as memorable as it was, from ensuring we had dinner on our late arrival to surprising us with a beautiful romantic candle light dinner by the water on our remaining nights.
Our Ocean front room was perfect in every way & enabled us to catch breathtaking sunsets every evening & magical morning swims.
Thank you Seti & team for making our memories as beautiful as possible, you are all a huge asset to this wonderful resort.
We will definitely be back again soon & highly recommend to all.

Fantastic location overlooking an excellent sand beach in Samoa, with as good as off-shore snorkeling I have experienced anywhere. (I note, this is an excellent natural sand beach and swimming area, and not an artificial beach and/or dominated with corral/sharp rocks as we found elsewhere in Samoa).
We were a family of five occupying two beach front bungalows, both built in a most interesting and I presume traditional style, but with all the modern conveniences as expected - much better than the boring modern rooms in most resorts...
Our hosts and all staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and accommodating as is the benefit of a small boutique resort, rather than just being yet another guest/number in the anonymous large full-on resorts ...
Our only regret was not having booked for longer than the two nights we had....

Main bed hard as a rock

Food options were extremely limited.

An entire menu was limited down to only two options for breakfast.

Advised via phone and email prior to arriving regarding food allergies.

Buffet night, we were advised by main receptionist one of us could have an individual meal due to allergies.

No options edible for them off the buffet.

$75 Tala per person.
Two of the food options were not edible for us.
One being raw fish.

Upon arriving for dinner, the lady ushering us in advised the individual plate was not an option at all. Her tone and mannerism was really quite rude.

After explaining clearly the pre arranged option, she then stated she would have to ask the chef if they would do that.

Thank you chef. Whom did allow one of our party to eat that night.

Felt like we were in a prison camp with limited food and drinks and grumpy personalities.

This resort was better than the other one on Upolo though.

Wouldn’t recommend, if you don’t like putting your hand in your pocket unnecessarily, very regularly.

Sorry Samoa, you have let us down.

Having now had the privilege to get to stay at 95% of the resorts and hotels on both Upolo and Savaii in Samoa, Le lagoto Resort and Spa it by far the most beautifully designed and run boutique Resort in Samoa.

The service from the staff is outstanding and the best we have experienced anywhere. The food, cocktails and coffee are all made with love.

The grounds are immaculate and manicured and the rooms are matriculately constructed in the traditional style.

Everything works and are well maintained.

The most peaceful quiet place to escape.

I cannot reccomend this place enough.

First time our family visited and stayed in the resort and we were welcomed with a wide open arms. The staff were sweet but by the time we got to our rooms we checked the water was off for the sink, shower and toilet. Our AC also wasnt working. We contacted the receptionist/staff/owner for an assistance if they could fix the water and AC straight away but it looked like they dont care as much as we do cause we paid thousands for our stay. We asked them for like the 10th time cause our family really needed to have showers cause we ride all around Savaii. So what we did we used one room where water is working and their warm pool. Customer service was very bad, we may be locals but they should treat us like they treated the Palagis we stayed at the resort. Whenever members of our family asked for this and that but they always gave us that “dont want to serve you” looks cause we dressed up not nice and we are locals. Expectations were high for the resort cause we saw some good reviews about their service and everything but with our family no it is a different story. Meal prices was such a rip off.
Do not recommend this place for a stay when visiting the beautiful big island.

'Lucky Bungalow 6' wasn't actually 'Leaky Bungalow 6 with a side of giant wasps (one was flying around with a large green caterpillar for dinner) and an air conditioner that, if switched on, smelt like wet dog thereby making it unusable, things might have gone a bit better. We could have accepted the surprise of the staff when we arrived, even though we'd booked months before, could have allowed that we were effectively in a work site with most of the bungalows around us being renovated from early in the morning, may not have questioned the fact that the safe didn't work or the ironing board was flaking to pieces or that there was no housekeeping - I could go on but you get the gist.

The thing is we're seasoned travellers and have stayed in lots of rustic places around the world. All of the issues that we had we could have coped with - they make great travel stories in hindsight - the issue here was they charged almost $400USD per night and that galls.

The saddest part is that Le Lagoto has the most beautiful location with coral and turtles at your doorstep, the property itself has the makings of something special, it's just way, way overpriced and very, very tired. If they have an offer for $100AUD a night, by all means go. Here's hoping the renovations help.

The receptionist checked us in with a smile. Our Oceanview villa was fantastic. It was the closest one to the bar…so ideal! Carpark was right next to it so it wasn’t far to offload our stuff. It was one back from the Waterfront villa but still had an amazing view of the ocean. Grab your drink and less than a minute your sipping Pina colada and watching the sunset! We actually preferred it because people were constantly walking along the front of the Waterfront villas to get to the beach or for their massage. Massage was amazing especially when you get to gaze out into the sunset before you nod off. Back to the villa….clean and comfortable beds for 4 people….1 Queen and 2 singles. Although, bathroom could do with a facelift.
Breakfast made fresh. Lunch and dinner was great. If we didn’t felt like anything on their menu, we just walked a minute along the beach to the other resort. Food tasty and friendly staff. Kiwi owners were very welcoming. I wish them well!
A big thank you to SETI who looked after us well! He was on his feet all day and one other staff member because they didn’t have anymore staff. Service with a smile. Downside to seasonal workers working overseas, causes staff shortages for the hospitality industry.
Would come again to this resort. Great for families.

Beautiful location. The rooms are comfortable but showing (especially the bathrooms) some age and are in need of TLC. We had a few issues during our stay and management as well as the owner were quick to reolve the problems. If you are after a boutique place to stay with crystal clear water at your front door then Le Legato will not disappoint. Make sure you ask Seti to sing and play his Ukelele for you!

This is a wonderful experience in the gamut of accom in Samoa! The beach is the best of any resort beach on either island, you can swim in the dazzling turqouise water at any tide, and for families this is the jewel in the crown for kids. The food is fresh, organic and beautifully cooked/ presented at every meal. We stayed in 4 different hotels around Savaii and Le Lagoto sparkled in every way - particularly unique selling points like featuring some local Samoan food, lobster, local coconut caramel jam for breakfast and wonderful service in the dining room and at the bar.

The beachfront should really be called oceanfront as there is no beach per se directly fronting the bures. There is nice grass for sunbathing and the sunlounges, and then stairs lead down past rocks to a landing for access into the water in a small cove with sandy bottom. The main sandy beach area is in front of the restaurant, bar and pool area and has the free watercraft available. So the first row of bures on the grassy cove is the "beachfront", then the row behind (oceanview) is offset so from the patio you look between two beachfront bures to glimpse the ocean. I think the oceanfront is best if you are spending time at the resort during the daytime (and price difference is acceptable) as you have your own patio furniture if the sun lounges on the grass are already taken. As others have said you do have people roaming about with both accom types BUT it isnt really an issue in a small resort like this..

Hi we stayed at both the Sinalei and Le Lagoto and are going back next month to Le Lagoto I love it menu changes every day and the snorkling straight out from resort in the coral is amazing. Rooms are great air con and fly screens, staff are a lot friendlier and go out of their way to please you. We went disappointed with our last visit

Hi, I was wondering, do all your Oceanview Bungalows have a great ocean views?
Answer from gerald s

Hi there. No, not all. you'd have bungalows adjacent to the water yes, but a 2nd set of bungalows back from the water - with no ocean view...obviously ocean views means more expensive...we were fine with no view...the entire place is so peaceful & tranquil...cheers

Talofa MamaTez, Thanks for your message -- our side of the island isn't really known for great surfing; you get a few good waves from time to time but nothing consistent and no big breaks. The best surfing is on the South Coast of Savaii -- I'd suggest getting in contact with Aganoa Surf Lodge Samoa (part of the Pegasus Surf Lodge group), and asking for their advice. Hope this is helpful! Sonya
