Detailed Reviews
Really enjoyed our stay. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The quality of the room was great, plenty of storage and nice amenities.
The spa is very nice and as it’s open most of the day it was easy to find quiet times to visit.
Breakfast was very good. We ate in the bar once and that was nice, but a little expensive for what we had. We also ate in the restaurant one evening as the weather was bad and we didn’t want to go out, and the food was a bit underwhelming so glad we weren’t on half board. It wasn’t bad, just not great for the price compared to restaurants in the resort.
The ski shop is really good, not expensive compared to other shops of comparable quality in the area and really convenient. The gondola access is amazing. I hate carrying my skis for more than about 30 seconds so the access straight onto the gondola towards Bergers was perfect. We also used it in the other direction to generally get around the town. It’s free to use without a ski pass.
My two recommendations to make things perfect would be:
Start turndown service a little earlier in the evening. Maybe it was because of where our room was but we would only get turndown after 9pm, sometimes as late as 9.45pm. We missed it 4 out of 7 nights because we’d already settled in for the evening and didn’t want to be disturbed. Maybe it’s just that we’re lame and don’t tend to stay out late but having it 7-8pm would be better. When we did have it, it was really good though, as was the general cleaning each day.
The ski shop kindly took our boots on the last day to clean them and said they’d be in reception and then delivered to us. This was a nice idea but in reality we asked reception several times for our boots and initially nobody knew they were there, then we were given the wrong ones. Finally my husband just got them from reception himself. We were staying really close to the ski shop, it honestly would’ve been easier for them to stay there! Great idea but needs some better comms and system to get it right.
Overall we loved our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel

We spent a wonderful week in Alpe D'Huez and the Hotel Daria-I Nor. The hotel is perfectly placed for the slopes with the Alpe Express on the doorstep. The ski shop in the hotel is excellent - we hired boots, skis and helmets and they were waiting for us on arrival and then collected at the end of each day ready for the following day.
We were half board - the breakfast is all you could want to start your day and the evening meal was a proper feast with great variety each evening and the hotel was happy to vary the options if something from the set menu didn't take out fancy. The Christmas Eve Menu was very special and there was always a lovely atmosphere in the dining room - a nice balance of relaxed informality and excellent service.
We had the connected family rooms - a twin and a double - and it's probably the best set up we've ever had - plenty of space and storage, well appointed, warm and perfect for a family of four (two older children). The spa and pool are excellent - hot tub was a great place to unwind after a day on the slopes and the sauna, steam room and salt room meant that on our one day of white-out there was plenty to do.
Alpe D'Huez is a great resort with lots of variety on the pistes, minimal queues and a lovely town centre for shopping, eating and wandering. Staying at the Hotel Daria-I Nor was the perfect place to explore everything.
However, the main thing that sets the Daria- I Nor apart from other places we've stayed was the staff. They were exceptional - from reception to the ski shop and housekeeping and, best of all, all the staff who worked in the restaurant who had a smile on their face every day and really made it feel like nothing was any bother for them - a real credit to the hotel.
We will hopefully be back again soon.

The only thing that can be improved - automatic table reservation for a dinner. Restaurant staff could not find our names almost every night, confused time and tables, etc. This issue can be easily resolved with automatic system and room numbers instead of names. Also, we always checked our checks and almost always found mistakes (sometimes not in favor to restaurant) - we got checks of other people to sigh, prices were different from the menu, etc. However, everything was resolved very quickly. The staff is really nice and kind. Tomas at the restaurant was super nice and funny.
Another issue was with a boots dryer in the ski shop. My boots were more and more wet inside from day to day. I think the the drying system is not efficient enough for a fully loaded shelves with boots.
Also, I got upgraded skies that I needed to replace next day (were not sharp enough for icy slopes). The new skies were excellent, but, as it turned out, my friend from our group got the same skies from the beginning and without upgrading fee :) (I paid 25 euro).
The hotel facilities are excellent, the food is very good, rooms are super convenient and clean. Every day you have two bottles of water, some sweets, fresh towels, etc. The check-out time is excellent (12:00 while other hotels have it at 9:00).
I definitely would return to this hotel (this was the second time).

We went to the La Table du Daria restaurant.
A horrible experience that does not match the description on the website at all.
The cozy and cozy atmosphere is replaced by a large room which serves as a “canteen” for hotel guests. Very noisy, families everywhere, sounds of cutlery, people talking loudly... Nothing like what one might expect.
I'm pregnant, the servers guaranteed me that the whipped cream that was on my soup was pasteurized. But they also told me that the cheeses on the buffet were also. The cheeses in question: Reblochon, Tome de Savoie and Bleu du Vercors. Absolutely not pasteurized therefore. I asked to see the labels of the ingredients that were used to make the cream: I was told “of course” but no one came back.
Long service time,
Servers doing too much,
In short, for a couple's dinner, move on, this restaurant has no standing.

We spent a family evening on February 16.
We were very disappointed with the service provided by the restaurant of this 5-star hotel.
Indeed, without being warned, the Amethyste restaurant (gastronomic) no longer exists and we were placed in a dining room that was basic and noisy to say the least.
The quality/price ratio is also very average compared to other restaurants in the Alpe. Very positive point, the valet service which picks up non-resident guests.

Family of 5 stayed here for a week over New Year. Hotel was very disappointing - we would not recommend.
Alpe D’Huez was a fantastic resort - skiing and snow was excellent - but would not stay at this hotel
Cons:
- we had family interconnecting rooms. Our room was very close to a terminal for a main bubble lift. We had to keep curtains closed because people in bubbles could see into our room and we could also hear the lifts from inside our room in the morning - this is not a peaceful hotel. Balconies look into the lift terminal as well. They don’t mention this on the website….
- staff at reception desk were aggressive and rude. We have not encountered staff (including the hotel manager) like this at a hotel before.
- not worth doing the kids half board food - very limited food options for kids.
- adults half board food was ok - but dining room very lifeless to be in every night. This is a mature hotel and not family friendly. Food sometimes took a very long time to come out.
- skis and boots are kept in ski shop overnight. Ski shop only opens at 830am - not good when ski school wants kids to be there at 845am. So had to keep skis and boots in hotel room - not right for a 5* hotel.
Pros:
- rooms were a good size
- rooms were clean
- good sledging outside the hotel for kids.
- staff in restaurant and ski shop were friendly.
All in all not at all worth the price at all and attitude of staff was upsetting. Suggest you choose a different hotel in town.

Enjoyed a great stay at the hotel in the December week before it got busy for Christmas (a great time to go!).
The location next to the lift was excellent (though not ski in/out, ski lift in/out is a good second best.)
The rooms were modern, spacious and well-equipped - though the beds were extremely hard and pillows (I’m not sure whether feather pillows were available if asked) uncomfortable too.
Bath with shower over - rather than wall in shower which would have been preferred. Nice toiletries and fluffy bath robe. Our room (5000) had a dressing room area which was helpful too. Bring your own hairdryer. The hairdryer in our room, which you had to press down very hard to hold on, was awful!
Service was friendly but occasionally a little inexperienced. It was the start of the season though.
Food in the restaurant was generally good - but very high carb and we didn’t see many vegetables or salad during the week. A salad bar for the starter would have been welcome. We finally chose to eat out on the last day and would choose to go B&B next time rather than half board. Also, not right in the vicinity of the main part of the resort (though only 5-8 mins walk) so we missed the opportunity to explore the resort until the last day when we went out to eat.
The ski shop team were friendly and helpful. No individual lockers though. You handed your skis into the ski shop team and they returned them to you each day.
Alpes D’Huez was a fantastic resort though - so would definitely return. May try another hotel next time though. The sister hotel to this one looked better positioned - assuming they have better beds!

We enjoyed a week with extended family in mid December. The Daria has excellent facilities and the baiss of being an amazing hotel, but there are some improvements that could be made to really deliver. Provision for young children dining was inadequate and the families were not always made welcome at the spa. Additionally, some of the staff seemed confused about some matters, but it was early in the season. There are some really strong points at the hotel though - amazingly helpful waiting staff in the restaurant, extensive breakfast options, super-comfortable, well-appointed rooms and an excellent location with direct lift access to the pistes. Work to do with young families to justify the cost but many will find it just great as it is.

With my husband we made a very nice discovery just before Christmas for 5 days.
This hotel has everything you could dream of, a great welcome, all the staff in this hotel are extremely kind and do everything to make your stay perfect and that was the case!!!!
The rooms are magnificent, the cleanliness 20/20, the most pleasant spa not to mention the restaurant and the bar area where the heat warms the heart accompanied by very good food, cocktails etc…….
For skiing, nothing could be easier, we leave them in the hotel store and the eggs are right next to them!
In addition, to go to the center, a valet will take you and come back to pick you up, always with the same kindness and politeness.
I admit that it has been a long time since we found such a hotel where we can't wait to return!!!!!
Don’t hesitate to go there, you will be amazed by their professionalism which is so lacking these days in a luxury hotel.

High quality accommodation (we stayed in the self catering apartments). Modern, comfortable, warm, with great access to everywhere... the slopes, Apple express lift and the town. The sauna, pool, steam room were an excellent addition and we used daily to unwind. So convenient for everywhere (although access to the Alpe Express for Self Catering guests could be improved, as hotel guests can walk straight through the shop, but we couldn't!) The accommodation itself was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The bed & pillow were soo comfortable. We stayed as a couple but maybe could feel a bit cramped for 4 people (if 2 others were using the sofa bed in the lounger/diner area). Staff were very friendly and helpful... sorted a slight problem with our bathroom as soon as it was reported. Very happy with our stay and would highly recommend to others. :-)

After flight delays we flew from Manchester to Lyon. We then travelled by taxi taking about 2.5 hours. Would have been fine if not for huge delays in January.
