Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed at the lovely Paradise valley lodge for 2 nights in July. What a hidden gem. Rural outlook. Very quiet and right on the Ngongataha River. Choice of lodge, 1 bedroom unit or beautifully presented 3 bedroom house. Gorgeous grounds and close to town. We stayed as a couple but would suit a group in the lodge or couples in the house. I believe they cater for weddings as well. Would certainly return fir another visit.

This immaculately maintained property is the ideal location for a gathering of friends. A dozen of us from all around the country spent a long weekend catching up and really enjoyed the community feel of the very large kitchen/dining/lounge area surrounded by small bunkrooms. There were rarely issues with waiting for a shower in the spacious bathroom and the powerful jets were most welcome! The gardens are stunning and we loved being able to watch the trout lounging in the stream at the edge of the property which is surrounded by restful green fields. The large outdoor dining table in the courtyard was the perfect spot to gather and catch up on the activities of the day before tucking in to our evening meal. An ideal location just 15 minutes drive from town for an extended family or group like ours. The hosts were very friendly and keen to offer touring suggestions or provide additional kitchen equipment for our particular needs. Highly recommended.

You could not ask for a more peaceful location as it is 3 km. from the main road and just above a nice little trout stream. We had the Garden unit which was very clean. The bed was comfortable, there was a very good shower in the smallish bathroom. the kitchen was well equipped and there was a full sized fridge. The only negative was the room got very warm in the evening and if you opened up the windows and doors and had any lights on the moths started coming into the room (i.e. about 20 or 30 within 30 minutes). Thus I would suggest screens on the door and windows.

Room Tip: The garden room was fine but it did not really have a view as there was a fence in front of it...

We had a long weekend away with extended family and stayed in the cottage and country room next door. Great facilities, lovely outdoor area for BBQs and immaculately presented. Beautiful gardens with access to stream which kids loved playing in. Close to Rotorua and the many activities. Highly recommend.

We stayed for 3 nights in early November. No other guests were on-site so that plainly contributed to the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Peter and Lyn were very friendly and also very helpful hosts. The unit we stayed in was very clean, in very good decorative order and very well equipped in terms of kitchen equipment. There is a large, well-maintained garden available for guests to walk around and enjoy. Quite a lot of "verys" in this review. That's because we so enjoyed our stay at Peter and Lyn's guesthouse.

A HUGE Thank you to Lyn & Peter for the warm welcome and being so friendly and accomodating to our group. A staff trip all the way from the Bay of Islands we were tired & cold BUT everything in the Lodge was so convenient, clean and there were large quantities of everything we needed. Lyn even made sure the fire was going when we got there and when we returned from activities...Such a lovely touch. The beds were so comfy and even the finer details of light switches conveniently placed near our beds. The Bathroom was Amazing for a group and best of all the Lodge was definately set up for groups, bonding and just chilling together. GREAT communication from the get go and so friendly. One of the BEST Accomodations I have experienced in my 20+ years in the Industry. THANK YOU SO MUCH we will treasure the time we had there...The Kawiti Family Glow Worm Caves Staff & Whanau xxx

The setting is so tranquil, perfectly manicured lawns at the lodge with a native bush track leading down to the world renown Ngnongotaha trout stream. The hosts were friendly and very helpful when required. I can highly recommend Paradise Valley Lodge.

The Paradise Valley Lodge was all that we could wish for lodging in the Rotorua area. So peaceful and beautiful, with the gardens, trout stream, and views, but also comfortable living space and super convenient to grocery stores, restaurants, and sightseeing. Probably our best experience for accommodations in all of New Zealand! Lyn and Peter were wonderful hosts, accommodating, helpful, and friendly We took advantage of the kitchenette to make our own breakfast. My favorite place in our rooms was the window seat - loved having my wine & cheese there on a rainy afternoon. I would definitely recommend the lodge to couples, families, and small groups.

We spent some wonderful days with Lynn & Peter and even extended for one night. We had a small apartment with ensuite bathroom and kitchen for our own and we loved it because it was quiet, clean and very cosy! You had everything you needed and if something was missing you could just ask and they helped us out. Besides it was really nice to get some good advice for sightseeing and things to do and they also told us which things are not worth going to... We just loved it and felt like home! Thanks again guys, you were great hosts! Nina & Sebastian

Loved the cottage gardens and country feeling. We stayed two nights and found the hosts very welcoming. At night we went down to the stream and saw glow worms. Very handy to the tourist attractions and activities. Would def stay again.
