Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This immaculately maintained property is the ideal location for a gathering of friends. A dozen of us from all around the country spent a long weekend catching up and really enjoyed the community feel of the very large kitchen/dining/lounge area surrounded by small bunkrooms. There were rarely issues with waiting for a shower in the spacious bathroom and the powerful jets were most welcome! The gardens are stunning and we loved being able to watch the trout lounging in the stream at the edge of the property which is surrounded by restful green fields. The large outdoor dining table in the courtyard was the perfect spot to gather and catch up on the activities of the day before tucking in to our evening meal. An ideal location just 15 minutes drive from town for an extended family or group like ours. The hosts were very friendly and keen to offer touring suggestions or provide additional kitchen equipment for our particular needs. Highly recommended.

You could not ask for a more peaceful location as it is 3 km. from the main road and just above a nice little trout stream. We had the Garden unit which was very clean. The bed was comfortable, there was a very good shower in the smallish bathroom. the kitchen was well equipped and there was a full sized fridge. The only negative was the room got very warm in the evening and if you opened up the windows and doors and had any lights on the moths started coming into the room (i.e. about 20 or 30 within 30 minutes). Thus I would suggest screens on the door and windows.

Room Tip: The garden room was fine but it did not really have a view as there was a fence in front of it...

We had a long weekend away with extended family and stayed in the cottage and country room next door. Great facilities, lovely outdoor area for BBQs and immaculately presented. Beautiful gardens with access to stream which kids loved playing in. Close to Rotorua and the many activities. Highly recommend.

We stayed for 3 nights in early November. No other guests were on-site so that plainly contributed to the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Peter and Lyn were very friendly and also very helpful hosts. The unit we stayed in was very clean, in very good decorative order and very well equipped in terms of kitchen equipment. There is a large, well-maintained garden available for guests to walk around and enjoy. Quite a lot of "verys" in this review. That's because we so enjoyed our stay at Peter and Lyn's guesthouse.

Loved the cottage gardens and country feeling. We stayed two nights and found the hosts very welcoming. At night we went down to the stream and saw glow worms. Very handy to the tourist attractions and activities. Would def stay again.

My husband son and I stayed three nights with Peter and Lyn at the Paradise Valley Lodge and they were very accommodating hosts.

The lodge is a little out of rotorua but if you have a car (or other transport) this is actually a bonus. Rotorua is a big and bustling place and the lodge is off in a quaint country setting not 10 minutes from anything you could want to do. Basically my advice is not to stay in the centre of town it isn't charming at all.

Even with horrid rain and a road closure Peter and Lyn went out of their way to make us feel welcome, suggest things to see and do and help with bookings.

When we return to Rotorua we will be booking in here again. No doubt.

We stayed here for two nights with our two boys, and booked the two adjoining rooms. Lyn and Peter were very welcoming, and the rooms were great. Beautiful garden leading down to the river. Just a short drive into the centre of Rotorua. Lovely spot!

We spent 4 nights here in the Country room, and really enjoyed it. A very relaxing and peaceful rural setting, but not far at all from Rotorua and all the attractions. If you are into trout fishing Mark can be of great help. The gardens and the stream are beautiful. Excallent setting for a couple with enough facilities to be self sufficiant. The beds were very comfortable.
But the Lodge which sleeps up to 12 people is also very well set up for bigger groups, with lots of space.
We really enjoyed our stay. Mark & Heather are great hosts.

We stayed here for three nights in April, the room was extremely comfortable, particularly the bed. The room is well appointed and has all that you need to self cater or just relax. The location is fantastic, far enough away from town to feel rural but close enough to access restaurants and the local attractions. The grounds are beautiful, spectacular gardens and having direct access to the stream a particular highlight. Mark and Heather are welcoming hosts. Very good value for money.

Stayed at the lovely Paradise valley lodge for 2 nights in July. What a hidden gem. Rural outlook. Very quiet and right on the Ngongataha River. Choice of lodge, 1 bedroom unit or beautifully presented 3 bedroom house. Gorgeous grounds and close to town. We stayed as a couple but would suit a group in the lodge or couples in the house. I believe they cater for weddings as well. Would certainly return fir another visit.
