This place looks way better in pics than it does in person, and is ridiculously overpriced for what you get. I wouldn't pay $100 a night to stay here, yet they ask 2.5x that. Spend your money at a premium hotel in the city centre .. it'll probably cost you the same but at least you'll be staying in a place that's been maintained since 1980 and some level of cleanliness/comfort
We were meant to stay for 2 nights but left after 1. Some of the other occupants had a party until 4am until we called Rotorua Noise Control to shut the party down. Neither the motel manager nor the duty manager (apparently he was caught up at the police station) were available to keep the noise in check. When we finally got hold of the motel owner the next day (office wasn’t occupied all weekend), he blew us off by saying it wasn’t his responsibility to ensure a reasonable noise level was held up by all occupants and whether we got any sleep. So, definitely won’t go back there and cannot recommend this place for families
Good older motel - right on the Lakeshore. Not 5 star, but very clean and has everything. Million dollar view from kitchen table in Unit 8. Very good moteliers. Nice walk from motel along lakefront. Short drive to food in Ngongataha. Handy to all the activities.
We had plenty of space for us & 3 kids & it was clean and comfortable. We chose this property as we were able to bring our dogs, however we didn't bring them after all. It's a nice location across the road from the Lake - but it's a shame the local Council don't do a better job of keeping the green area in front of the lake clean & tidy. The grounds & gardens of the property itself were lovely & well kept with plenty of space & things to do for kids.
Carpet was wet as owner had just cleaned it, remote didn't work, fridge was loud, room was damp and smelt like old man. The owner is actually a nice guy and the view of the lake is good but it's the smaller things that need to be fixed as we pay to be here and have a large range of other options. Rather then extending our stay we decided to stay elsewhere for our final night in rotorua. During our stay the weather was terrible and we weren't able to use the kayaks which was a bummer and also put a dampener on our stay, not that anyone can control the weather.
