Been here 1 night, absolute horror show. Arrive at 4pm, nip out to get some food with 9 month old before booked entertainment only to be turned away from every single restaurant because we did not have the 'dining plan'. Told if you want to eat in any of the restaurants here then 'need to eat between 4pm and 4.30pm'. Called customer service they offered an alternative - eat at the expensive 'yacht club' at 23 pounds per head. Advisor tried haggling with me and told us it was good value for money and that they would pay that for a meal. Walked around for an hour looking for food, gave up and ended up with a Burger King after nearly missing our show. Plenty of other families in the same boat, utter confusion as to why restaurants were refusing to let people in despite plenty of tables being available. One restaurant had an entire area shut off - told they didnt have the staff to open it. One front of house 'waiter' blanked us when he found out we were not on the dining plan, basically pushed us to the side and told us he is speaking to the people behind who were on the plan - how rude! Dont bother booking shows - they let anybody in even prior to those that have booked so when you get in the venue place is already heaving so you end up sitting at the back in the corner. Table service app not working, so end up queuing for half an hour to get a drink. 20 minutes into a show told it had been turned off because 'the show had nearly finished', it wasn't even half way through! When I asked the bloke behind the bar if we could stay sat at our table he said no, you have to leave and come back in again at the end of the show, but if it were him 'he wouldnt want to have to sit through that again'. Pool barely open, doesn't open until 10am and closes at 4pm. If your here on a Friday it's not open at all. Cleanliness of the room a bit confusing - late check in for extra cleaning but skirting boards thick with dust/mould, plastic clothes tags left on floor, crumbs and chocolate stains on floor - had to give it a deep clean ourselves before we could let our 9 month old on the floor. Shower blocked so end up standing in 3 inches of water after 1 minute. No cot in room as requested, noone to speak to on site at 4.30pm as theyd all gone home. Bit of a shambles start to our 4 night break, not really the start we were hoping for on our first family holiday with our little one. We were 'ready to butlins' but it seems that butlins were not ready for us.

We visited Butlins Skegness for the first time last month and had a really great time. We had no idea what to expect as had never been before & had read mixed reviews, however people we have spoken to who have been have all said what a great time they had. First impressions were good, check in was very fast & efficient and our room was ready when we arrived. We stayed in a new style Silver apartment which was pretty basic but fine for what we needed it for. We weren’t overly impressed with the cleanliness when we arrived and did clean the kitchen area/bathroom ourselves. The place definitely could have done with a good hoover too! We did have to remind ourselves that we hadn’t paid for 5* luxury and that really it was just a place to sleep, though we did eat breakfast & lunch in the apartment during our stay. The apartment had pretty much everything we needed - kettle, toaster, fridge, crockery, cutlery, clothes airer, small washing up liquid, sponge & tea towel. The on site supermarket seemed really well stocked but quite expensive. We only used it for the odd drink/snack as had gone to a local supermarket before we arrived to stock up. The resort itself it just fantastic for children & families. We had such a good time. We had pretty good weather too but even when it was raining there was still plenty to do. The swimming pool is brilliant! It’s huge & didn’t feel too busy at all. The changing area is large with lockers (£1). The slides are great fun and there’s a separate kids pool with shallower water & little slides. The fairground is great! Our little one & his little cousin loved the rides and it’s fantastic that they are included in your break so you don’t have to pay extra for them. We didn’t use the bigger fairground side but it looked like there was plenty of rides for older children / adults too! The shows were good, our little one is a bit young for them at the moment but the older children all loved them. There’s plenty of them on during the day. We did have to pre-book on the app which was fine & I believe you could queue for them on the day too to see if there was space. The arcade was great! Lots of fun for children & adults! Plenty of rides for the kids to enjoy too. We didn’t use the soft play area but family we were with did and said it was good. There was an animal room (can’t remember what it was called) but that was good to visit & interesting. It had spiders/ lizards etc. We enjoyed the Skyline area. There was a stage with different shows/performances on during the day & evening. You could take your own food & drinks into this area too! There were plenty of bars & restaurants. We are out every evening and enjoyed our meals. The Italian was our favourite! We did visit the beach which was nice but it was really windy that day so we didn’t stay long. There was an ice cream van and a stall selling buckets/spades etc. All of the staff we encountered were really friendly & helpful. We have booked again for next year with our family & are really looking forward to it. It really is set up so we’ll for families!

We went self catering this year and went to the yacht club for breakfast. The tablets were cleaned after someone left ready for the next person. The food was hot and plenty to choose from. The staff was very polite and helpful with a smile. Mr and Mrs Preece from Nottingham

Stayed mon-fri in fairground apartments self catering. Took cleaning equipment and expected to have to deep clean on arrival; however apart from just a gentle polish all was good. Yes; it did show signs of general wear and tear and clear was well used but I’m not in the slightest bothered. Bed comfy, apartment basic but adequate and we felt comfortable in it during our stay. We ate once in the firehouse which I would say wasnt worth the money; portions tiny and my salad was brown. The shoes and all entertainment were spot on and the red coats worked their backsides off from morning til night. Fairground ace. Didn’t do swimming as not my thing. Supermarket well stocked and yes was pricey but had everything we needed. We had a blast and defo would return with our 3 year old!
