We had half board and really impressed with the food. One night we choose not to have the set menu on half board and they allowed us change to something else. Cannot fault the food. Breakfast was limited/repetitive ( beans, croquettes, bacon and scrambled egg every morning) but nice! so we did not struggle to find something. Pastries were delish! Coffee and teas available, fresh juice and waters. Cannot really fault it, great value for money at the hotel.
The pool area is small, but nice, enough sun loungers I think for the size of the hotel. This is definitely a quieter and quainter hotel than your resort feel so if that’s what you want, this is not the hotel for you. Pool area very clean and bar inside for drinks and ice creams.
Convenient shuttle runs from the Hilton directly opposite the hotel into Vilamoura and it was so handy and free. The walk seemed a little too far to be honest - definitely 20 mins or more.
We used the shower facilities downstairs as we had a late flight and it was super handy. The reception kept hold of our luggage for the few hours free of charge.
We had a car and there was plenty of places to park free of charge.
Can definitely recommend this hotel for couples or groups and a nice relaxing stay. Definitely consider the half board or even dine in one evening, as the food was lovely and compliments to chef and staff. Thanks for a great stay!
As you can see from other reviews The staff are all friendly the Reception Girl with the long black hair and black glasses is very helpful, The Cleaner for our Room 006 was Brilliant, As the young Coloured Girl and her assistant carrying out the Breakfast Duties Sorry for not remembering all your names 🤷♂️Then the Evening staff Michelle,Tiago,And I think the other lady with the Black rim glasses again can’t remember your name we’re all Brilliant. Could do with one extra staff to be at the Bar as some people were waiting a little while to be served! Remember Tiago follow your dream 😴👍. Have to agree with two points that people have already said And that’s the Breakfast in the morning it needs a few more choices ie Eggs/ Sausage’s ! In place of 3 lots of Beans and 3 lots of Scrambled eggs. And the pool not very Big But it’s fine for cooling off in. And again plenty outdoor seating for sunning and eating outside. Plenty transportation into town just ask at the reception, there could be a little more Information on display again it could be down to the time of year. I would certainly stay there again without a doubt. Well Done to all the staff and to theses I have missed.
The hotel is approx 30 minute walk to the marina and beach however there is a regular shuttle bus which runs from the Hilton over the road which Garden Hotel guests can use. This transport finishes at 2100 but taxis seemed reasonable from what other guests informed. We had a car for the week so we’re able to visit other areas and beaches too.
The staff were very pleasant and we had a wonderful week.
The rest of the staff…mainly women, are first class, friendly, helpful and extremely professional.
Next point is the room description, although we were supposed to be in a ‘garden pine view’ room, the only view we had was a building site on the other side of a busy road with some pine trees in the distance behind the Villas opposite.
The room was kept immaculate by the cleaning team and apart from a few hairline cracks in the wash basin, and a problem with the air conditioning one night, everything else was fine apart from being woken up at 7.30/8.00 a.m. when the builders over the road started work.
If you are not here for the golf, or even tennis, there is not very much more to do apart from going down to the Marina and beach everyday.
The Hotel offers a free shuttle service down to the Marina every 2 hours but you have to walk over to the Hilton Hotel as that is where they pick you up and drop you off, but it is only a couple of minutes walk.
It’s only about a 25minute, quite pleasant walk, down to the Marina/Beach.
The breakfast was included and there was always a good selection of fruit, cereals, cheeses and ham, and pastries, but the cooked breakfast was just tasteless and boring….the same everyday. Scrambled eggs, bacon, or something described as bacon with every piece exactly the same shape and size, watery baked beans, tomato and croquette potatoes.
We found out on our second last day that you could have eggs to order, but they don’t tell you that, another guest who found out told us.
There are 4 or 5 decent restaurants within 10 minutes walk, the best of which was the Vila Com Tradicao and is highly recommended.
As we had a late flight we asked HIM on reception, very politely, if it was possible to keep the room on for a couple of hours after the 12.00 checkout.
He took about 5 mins of checking on his computer and told us no.
As the hotel wasn’t very busy I asked him…very politely…why, he said the room was already booked out to someone arriving today, and I said, even though the hotel wasn’t anywhere near full why give a noisy room with a poor view and a cracked wash basin to someone else when you have other rooms available.
At this point one of the very pleasant female member of the reception staff came out of the office and had a few words with him, then she said to us that we could have a complimentary room until we left for the Airport.
I suggested, why don’t you check the new arrivals who were checking into our room into the complimentary room as the room they were giving them was not a very good room.
There was no response to this suggestion, so we just declined the offer and are checking out at 12 noon.
All in all, we had a lovely relaxing break, and some wonderful warm weather, but doubt that we would visit this area again, and if we did we would definitely not stay at this Hotel.
Looking around for somewhere to stay, not to far from the airport, this come up with free half board so thought a good deal and only 25 mins from the airport.
Get to check in which took quite a while. The man on reception needs to smile 🙂 it goes a long way.
Our room was fantastic, it had a lower area with a large king (I think) bed, balcony, TV and the upper area a sofa pull out bed which was ready made and very comfortable with another TV, table and chairs. Bathroom was nice too.
Towels are in the room, you can have towels for the beach and pool.
There was air con but I think this is on some kind of vented system, our room was so hot, we had to ask for a fan which they did straight away.
So as I said, we booked half board, the HB menu is completely different to the main menu. You will get to choose from 2 starters, 3 mains and 2 desserts. Not loads of choice and when you ask for the roast pork with sautéed vegetables and get a salad in vinaigrette, the chef need to look at his menu. I questioned this and the chef come back saying the salad was sautéed veg!!! There was a few things on the menu like that no right. The majority of the food was nice. No drinks were available with the HB, not even water. You have to pay for it. I think as HB you should be giving water with your meal as standard and not be charged.
The pool area is small but only 70 rooms. 1 morning here was a bit hectic trying to find a sunbed and a staff member said she had never seen it so busy but people eventually went out for the day, you do need a car to go anywhere., the nearest shop (spar) is a 15 minute walk and to haul your shopping back in the heat is hard work.
The pool was left all day covered in drink cups, bottles, plates etc, staff were walking past them leaving them and didn’t touch them until everyone had left the pool area for the day.
There is a free shuttle to take you to the beach and marina on every hour from another hotel across the road. We got off at the beach, well from the stop it was another 10-15 minute walk to the beach so if you have a lot of stuff or kids it would be a pain. From the beach you can walk along the path to various booths which are numbered to hire a sun lounger. We stopped at number 4 as liked the atmosphere in the restaurant there to stop for lunch later. Walked back to get the bus back at 4 and it was full so the lovely chap come back for us but there was no shade and all stood in the baking heat for 20 minutes until he got back and got quite burnt.
I would like to say thanks to the waiting staff for breakfast and dinner, they did a great job, always smiling and attentive to the guests.
Every single member of staff is both incredibly friendly and helpful from the reception to the bar and restaurant.
Half board included a really good and varied breakfast buffet and either lunch from the menu (lots of choice) or a 3 course set menu dinner which was fantastic each night and provided several different options. Drink choice at the bar was great and prices were really reasonable.
Our room was one of the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in in a hotel with a great size balcony.
Pool area is relaxing with plenty of sun beds to go round.
A huge bonus is guests at the hotel have access to the free shuttle bus to marina em beach from the Hilton hotel (2 minute walk away).
Great golf course 2 minute walk away (Pinhal).
We will definitely be back, we loved our stay and could not recommend more.
