We arrived at the hotel at about 13:00 and were told that our room was not ready. As check in was not until 15:00 this was fine, so the receptionist completed all of the paperwork to make it quicker for us later. They then took our phone number and promised to call when the room was ready, but we got no call. This would not have been expected if it had not been offered, so was an unnecessary disappointment by the hotel.
When we did check in at about 15:30, the initial thoughts were the rooms were airy and spacious with a small balcony, big enough to sit comfortably. However, there were a few small issues in the bathroom. It appears that at one point the towel / robe hook may have been pulled from the wall and replaced, but the holes from the original hook were never filled. A large tile appeared to have been replaced, but it was a completely different colour to the other tiles; the plug in the sink looked grimy, but it was limescale due to the tap constantly dripping; the shower screen did not fit properly, so the floor was socking when you got out of the shower (no matter where you moved the screen to). But the worst was a door stop, right in front of the toilet. When I used the bathroom in the middle of the night, half asleep, I stepped on this large piece of metal in the floor and hurt my foot - it really was the most inconvenient place to put the door stop.
Reading this you may think that we did not enjoy our time, but it would actually be the opposite. Breakfast was plentiful, the guest areas in the hotel were spacious and airy (in fact there seems to be a large amount of wasted space in the hotel), the rooms were clean (other than the sink plug as previously highlighted), the views were lovely from the clean poolside area. We went in May and there were sufficient sunbeds for the guests, but this may be a different case in the busier summer months.
The hotel bar was small but comfortable. The drinks were expensive, but the lady working the bar was really friendly - we were only there two nights, but on the second night, she had remembered what we were drinking, down to which drinks had ice and which didn't. I cannot commend her enough (23 & 24 May 2022), as this sort of detail makes you feel really valued as a customer.
So, if the hotel can sort out the small niggles with the lack of a promised phone call (don't make a promise and then break it) and the bathroom, this would definitely get a five star review.
We will hopefully visit again, and I look forward to these small issues being resolved for our next visit.

Stayed here on Thursday 3rd September first thing that struck me was how clean the hotel was and how well briefed the staff were on the current COVID guidelines. My room on the 7th floor was spacious, tastefully furnished and had the most amazing view of the Atlantic Ocean . I would definitely recommend a visit to this luxurious hotel.

My wife and I are back from a week stay in the Sesimbra Hotel & Spa.
We were both very satisfied with our stay. The hotel is spotless . The staff throughout the hotel are very nice and helpful. The Pool area is lovely with lots of sunbeds. The room was very spacious with a good size bathroom and a good shower which were always cleaned to perfection . The balcony is also a good size with a stunning view but the sun did not quite shine on ours but it was lovely to sit out at anytime such was the great weather. We were on the tenth floor.
There was a good choice at breakfast like breads, juices, cereals, fruit, pastries and hot food ( we would have liked to see some changes to the hot food during the week though). The location was great and close to the town center , restaurants, bars, cafe,s bus station.
I would highly recommend the Sesimbra Hotel and Spa.

I would say it’s the best hotel to stay in Sesimbra in terms of location and ammenities (pool, paid parking €20pd, direct beach access, on site restaurant). You’ll be glad of the pool as the sea water is FREEZING even in August.
The Deluxe Sea View room was total oceanfront and quite large, albeit mainly empty space so probably not necessary for a single or couple. You also don’t get a choice between a twin or double room unless you upgrade again. Nevertheless the room was clean and well styled. Staff pleasant.
It’s a bit of a rough diamond though. In my room the mini bar didn’t really work, the air con made a loud banging noise (which I reported and wasn’t fixed) and there was some rising damp on one wall.
I would stay again but I’d be more cautious about what I paid.
Ps I originally booked direct online with the hotel with a credit card on a non refundable rate. All confirmed via email. Weeks later I was emailed asking for bank transfer as the final payment as they didn’t have international credit card facilities on site. I ended up having to cancel the booking and go again via a third party site at a higher rate. Really annoying because they absolutely do have international card facilities on site.

Response from Sesimbra Spa Hotel, Other at Sesimbra Oceanfront Hotel
Responded 15 Aug 2024
Dear Mr. Scott, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your stay at our hotel in Sesimbra. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the hotel’s location, the direct beach access, the on-site restaurant, and the pool, especially since you found the sea water quite chilly. Regarding your experience in the Deluxe Sea View room, we appreciate your observations. We strive to provide spacious and comfortable accommodations, and we apologize if the room configuration was not optimal for you, the only bedroom typology in which we guarantee a double bed is in a Suite. Your feedback about the mini bar and air conditioning has been noted, and we apologize for any inconvenience you experienced. We are actively addressing these issues to ensure that they do not recur for future guests. We understand that you preferred the charge to be made directly to the provided credit card. Unfortunately, due to security concerns, we do not process charges on non-present credit cards. At the time of your reservation on our website with the non-refundable rate (NRF), the only available payment option was via bank transfer. We are committed to providing the best possible experience and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future. Best Regards Vanda Simplicio Guest Relations

We visited on a 3 night stay check in was easy and Nuno the manager was very helpful re parking 🅿️ ( free for guests) and also time of room availability. The hotel is pretty awe inspiring overlooking California beach 🏖️ with amazing sea views and the infinity pool 🏊♀️ is class . Breakfast has everything laid out the sausages and rashers/ bacon 🥓 are not Irish ☘️ style so we were not keen however I am sure everyone else liked them we had fried eggs 🍳 every morning cooked fresh just asked the girl it was no problem but the buffet has lots of stuff hot and cold ( suggestion maybe mushrooms and grilled tomatoes 🍅 be a good addition to hot counter going forward)
Bedrooms are excellent roomy and nice with spectacular sea views good tv plus WiFi .
On our last day with late flight Nuno was kind enough to let us stay poolside and keep our adidas rucksacks in a locked room until we were ready to go to the airport. To sum up staff friendly and helpful facilities and setting are epic tbh if you find fault with this hotel 🏨 you are actually searching very hard when you should actually be enjoying your holidays 😉 FYI They have Ben and Jerry ice cream 🍨
Thanks again Nuno and staff see you in 2024

Spent three nights here as part of our recent tour of different parts of Portugal. Really spacious bedroom and full bathroom with a bank of wardrobes separate to the bedroom that served as a great dressing area.Lovely terrace with furniture & sea views. The hotel staff are friendly and knowledgeable, breakfast has everything you could wish for, self service but no restrictions for those with a large appetite. The only downside is that the hotel parking wasn't obvious, so one us had to nip out to get directions from the staff. Underground parking is ample. Gym very small but we used it, the Spa facilities are fantastic but not cheap, so wonderful for a treat.

The hotel is very clean, beautiful, modern and very well located. We booked for 3 nights through Booking.com because I was unable to get on the english site of the hotel. This morning I went to see the mgr to tell him that we would check out one day earlier and if he could do something to not charge me. He said no you have booked through Booking.com and there is nothing I can do.
I said thank you I completely understand.
By the time I went to my room to finalize my luggage, I received an email from Booking.com saying there would not be any charge for the night.
I went back to reception and the mgr said he cancelled it through his system. I told him it isn’t the money but his gesture.
That is service well above and beyond.
Thank you ( tall man mgr) forgot to ask your name.
The hotel is impeccable but your service even more!!

More than a four-star hotel, perhaps at most it should have three, a mammoth structure that is perhaps twenty years old and everyone can see it.
Spacious and large room with a tiny balcony just enough for a table and two chairs, courtesy service of water and coffee valid only on the first day, cleaning service in general throughout the entire hotel a bit poor. The swimming pool is small if it had to contain all the guests with the many children present it would not be able to therefore, I recommend going to the beach (no services connected with the hotel). Breakfast to be improved on everything: terrible quality of food (fresh fruit), Beacon cooked in industrial mode (still one on top of the other), no dried fruit, quality of coffee (undrinkable) perhaps there is no maintenance on the "Nespresso" machine.
Good and enjoyable spa especially the Turkish bath.
The three stars are for the fantastic location.

For those who come in autumn/winter and value the spa, I do not recommend.
The spa is very small and the pool looks like a tank. You have to climb some stairs (dangerous by sign) and the worst of all is that the water was cold. There are no loungers. There are only 3 chairs.
It had a vertical hydromassage shower that didn't work well and a tropical shower that needs to be remodeled.
The hotel itself is beautiful, the room is spacious and the view over the sea is amazing.
However, the outdoor pool itself is small and the staff (especially at the reception) is not at all friendly.
The shower in the bathroom also poured water under the glass. So unfortunately it was not a fantastic experience as we expected (being a 5-star hotel). Possibly it will be better in the summer because it is on top of the beach and the area is nice. But for relaxing getaways when it is bad weather do not recommend.

Beautiful beach hotel. This far exceeded our expectations- the room was spacious and clean and the balcony had gorgeous views of the beach. We enjoyed the infinity pool and were very pleasantly surprised by the breakfast ( featuring a terrace , complimentary sparkling wine and a pancake machine). Ideally located to explore the gorgeous town of sesimbra and the beach. We will definitely be staying again!
