Guests at the Aviator Hotel & Suites South I-55, BW Signature Collection have commended the updated, thematic lobby and the hotel's convenient location near highways and local amenities. However, many have called for room renovations to reflect the inviting lobby, pointing out problems such as mold and smoke odors.
While the bar, breakfast, and pet-friendly policies are highlights, visitors often feel let down by the non-functional pools and hot tubs. Furthermore, opinions on service and cleanliness are split, with some praising the staff but others noting issues with maintenance and housekeeping.

Everything was good, I actually liked that the breakfast was a restaurant and not free it was nice having service and relaxing with a hot breakfast, instead of fighting over cereal. The pool was open but the hot tub was not. We were lucky and were on the side of the building away from the highway it was pretty quiet besides door slams and children talking loudly. We were in the last room in a very long hallway and this is fine, however the side doors would not open with our key card after late, I wish they would have told us when this happened as it was a long long walk to the front door and then back around to room again. Our room was a little worn, one light wouldn't turn on until I found another outlet to plug it into. The TV remote battery cover fell off in my hands, as the tab was missing. The fridge had a freezer section and rechilled everything I needed including my ice bricks, this was awesome. The location is next to a dead shopping center, their is no traffic light to turn left you must cross 2 lanes of traffic. The parking lot and roads leaving the area are in disrepair the entrance had large potholes. For the price I'd do it again.

The suite was spacious enough for 2 adults and 1 toddler. The pool option was good for us, since an AirBnB doesn't typically offer that, but even indoors, it was cold and the hot tub wasn't in service. There was no exhaust in the bathroom, and if the air conditioner wasn't on, it did smell musty in the room and there were spots on the ceiling that were questionable. The king mattress was hard and the sofa mattress was flat and old. When we arrived, there were no extra linens for the sofa mattress so we had to get those at the front desk. Additionally, we weren't told that housekeeping is on an as-needed basis until we complained that we had been there for 3 days and no one emptied our trash yet (2 very small bathroom sized cans). Housekeeping was requested the following day (because they had left already that day), and still didn't come. We didn't get housekeeping the entirety of our stay. All I wanted was trash taken out, new bathroom linens, and the bathtub cleaned since my 2 year old was bathing in it. Again, was met with linens from the front desk and 1 roll of toilet paper, after housekeeping had left for the day. I had to make my own bed in a place I was paying to stay in for a week. Having the microwave, mini fridge, and keurig was nice, though, since we made breakfast in the morning for our toddler and snacks in the evenings. The room was pretty quiet, which was a huge plus! And, when our neighbors on the 2nd day of our stay, were very noticeably smoking weed, management seemed to have taken care of it soon, as the hall and room smelled better after we said something. Overall, we will not choose to stay here again. We'd much rather spend a little more or even the same, without a pool, to rent an AirBnB or equivalent.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns regarding your stay with us, and we appreciate both the positive and constructive comments. While we are known for our great customer service and attention to detail in everything we do, it appears we did not live up to our own high standards on this occasion. That you were inconvenienced as you were by the lack of housekeeping is deeply regrettable. We do appreciate that you brought these matters to our attention, showing us that we have room to improve on several fronts. We're grateful for your time and wish you safe travels.

My family of stayed at the Aviator hotel as our home base for spring break 2022 as we explored St. Louis. The hotel is 20-30 minutes from most of the things we wanted to do around the city, and had direct access to I-55 Northbound into the city. The lobby of this hotel is really nicely furnished, with some good historical references, restaurant, pool table and had some kind of flavored water or juice and coffee available, any time we went past. The restaurant had some selections ranging from basic apps to high end entrees, though, we got salads and chicken tenders for the kids. We even happened to stop in on a night where they were doing music trivia, and my whole family decided to join in. It was a really great time, and I hope an event that they can continue to build on. The rooms are your average, basic hotel rooms, ours had a fridge and microwave, but I don't think they all had them. Our room also had the typical fit and finish issues you would expect to see in an average hotel room, repaired walls, some electrical work that could be tidied up, etc, but the room was overall fine for us. The TV had 40-some channels, including local weather, NatGeo and HBO, which kept us well entertained, though I do wish hotels would start upgrading to TV's that I can mirror my phone onto so I can use my own subscription services. They also have a pretty large indoor pool and hot tub, in a much larger and more open pool room than most hotels, a really nice feature for our family. Finally, the hotel staff was pleasant and very attentive whenever we asked for anything, and they even started a text conversation with me when I arrived that we continued to communicate with for the week, a nice touch.
Overall, this is not a high end hotel, and I don't think it means to be, but it felt clean, safe, had a great pool, a good location, and I think it was a really great value for what we needed on this trip.

During the first weekend Nov. 3rd-6th I was visiting & exploring St. Louise enjoying the METALLICA takeover weekend. I found Aviator Hotel through Orbitz. Rates and location were acceptable & reasonable. I had a good stay and found the room clean, comfortable and area visibly safe. Front Desk and the morning buffet was good & consistent. Bathroom met all my needs and the shower had good pressure, even if it had only one level surface in which to place my shampoo & conditioner travel bottles, which I found funny and annoying. A bathroom safety mat was included for the shower-tub, a nice added touch. Observation: I find it odd that nowadays many mid & high end Hotels lack vent fans in their bathrooms. Conveniently located to good food establishments and local entertainment. I was merely 15 to 18 minutes away from The Dome & The Arch National Park. Other than Friday afternoon at 4pm which wasn’t intolerable, there was no traffic or congestion or construction, most of the time when I was going into the City. I recommend trying local eats in The Grove part of town named Grace Meat + Three and Freddys’ Custard & Steak burger’s, which is all over the area. Fitz Soda was also a neat looking local creation that I never got to try out & looked fun, if you’re into that type of thing. Historic Jefferson Barracks are a few miles from the hotel and have expansive trails that are dog friendly while providing beautiful views of the Mississippi River bird habitat & flora viewing including a compelling & thoughtful War Memorial to lost Hero’s of Missouri. Jefferson Barracks is also home to an active National Guard Unit, along with the designation of being historically significant to the early days of Lewis & Clark and The Core Of Discovery, as they met right here along the shores of the Mississippi prior to disembarking to St. Louis 1803.

A disappointing but not horrible stay at the Aviator. We booked it based on good location, showed as a 3-star hotel at reasonable price. Well, it is in no way comparable to any 3-star hotel -- it is a reasonable 2-star property with some challenges. Here's the details, good bad and ugly: Parking lot, well-lit, seemed to be enough spaces, but at the critical turns from the hotel's "lane" and entrance, up to the main lot, there was a massive, tire-depth pothole at each end that was almost unavoidable. Should've fixed this years ago. So allow $$ for an alignment. Check-in experience was fine...although...see later about some serious front desk problems. Property is a little musty. But not unusually so for a low-middle end property that has a pool. If a little moistness or mustiness bothers you, look elsewhere. But all very clean, relatively updated. Rooms are what you'd expect. Our beds were a little saggy/soft but not uncomfortable. Outlets and lights where you'd expect. Desk chair was unsittable...it had likely broken many months ago and hasn't been sat in since. Obviously no one checks. AC unit worked fine, as did shower, plumbing...no issues. Breakfast was adequate, maybe a bit below average for similar 2-star hotels that offer it. Food quality and variety was spotty...but they do offer it and we always appreciated the included breakfast in any case. The big surprise was that no one made up our room. I haven't experienced that since late 2021 (that was a COVID thing for about a year and a half at many places). The 70 or so stays I've experienced since then have ALL had "maid service." This property had maid service also...there were plenty of carts out in the hallway. When we enquired at the front desk, the lad there said "On days when we are at full capacity, we don't offer stayover service. You have to ask for it the night before or come down and ask here in the morning. You know, with COVID and everything and people not wanting someone else in their room." What??? Did he actually just say that keeping a straight face?? How would WE know they were at capacity? And there was no placard in the room, nor at the front desk, stating that there was no service, and NO ONE mentioned anything when we checked in (and it was that same guy). Made no sense at all, just more gaslighting to cover up for poor service. It just wasn't a big enough deal for them to make up stories...instead a good business would have avoided this problem...or owned it if it happened. So in summary, we would never come back here. Nothing really major went wrong...but... Overall situation at this property just seemed to us that no one cared; this was evident from the moment we arrived in the parking lot, to the moment we left.

I was told pool was available prior to booking only to find out it was not. My room had mold on the ceiling of the bathroom. There was no hot water and I had to take a cold shower. When I reported the issues my concerns were dismissed and I was told I could cancel the reservation but I would not receive a refund.

Ok. Appears to be in the process of revamping. Lobby and pub area looks awesome. No housekeeping staff seen anywhere during our 3 night stay. Front desk staff acted perturbed when clean towels were asked for. Fitness room looked nice. Pool area was not open. Room was clean and quiet. Room was a nonsmoking room but smelled strongly of cigarette smoke

Don't be deceived by the updated lobby and stay elsewhere. Horrible experience! Upon arrive learned pool was closed, which made for sad kids. We checked into our room with 2 Queen beds both of which had crumbs on the sheets and beeping smoke detector. Called front desk and was told no one was available to change sheets and that I could! I then requested a room change and was given a King room with a pull out sofa for my family of four. No bedding on or available for pull out sofa in room so we picked up bedding at front desk and made bed ourselves but no pillows were available! Only ice machine working was on 4th floor. Room was never cleaned during 3 night stay so had to keep asking for clean towels. Sheets had rips and holes in them, wall were dirty.

After reading the reviews here, we weren't expecting the Ritz-Carlton, but for the most part, we were actually pleasantly surprised.
The Aviator is right off of I-55, about fifteen minutes from downtown St Louis. There are enough restaurants (including fast food and a Krispy Kreme) close by that there's no excuse for being hungry, and fuel is relatively close as well.
The hotel is not quite 40 years old; it was (from what we gathered) originally a Sheraton, then a Holiday Inn, and is now loosely affiliated with Best Western (but is NOT one). The front entrance of the house (lobby, conference rooms and bar/restaurant) appear to have undergone a relatively recent renovation; the rooms/hallways have not. That doesn't make them bad, but they are showing their age.
Having said that, all we were looking for is a clean, comfortable room with a good shower and a TV that has more than three channels. (NOTE: Aviator has a limited DirecTV subscription, but it includes HBO.) This place has all of that, and has plenty of parking.
There were only a couple of little things that were inconveniences. Specifically, at the time we were there, only one elevator worked (we were on the second floor), so we had to walk the entire length of the hotel, ride up one floor, and then walk halfway back to the front of the hotel to get to our room. Not a big deal once we had our room keys; we just parked near the back door, which got us right next to the elevator.
Second, as is commonplace, we had at least one key that became "demagnetized". No, it wasn't near a cell phone or anything else electronic; it just failed. Again, not a big deal; we had it "remagnetized" and it worked fine for the rest of our time there.
All it all, we couldn't be disappointed by getting something slightly nicer than we expected; we'll certainly stay there again if we need to be in St Louis again.
