My wife and I stayed here for 1 night. One thing we learnt is, that you need to stay here more than a night. It is very quiet and relaxing, and is a place where you can totally chill out. There are great views over the lake and it has some really great walks nearby. The rooms are older style but are roomy and very spacious.

The pub is just down the road. A 400metre walk. But the walk is not too strenuous. Overall we had a great stay and we will be back in the future.

It you are looking for five star this is not for you. If you are looking for a pub with separate quant accommodation in a gorgeous friendly village on a fantastic sailing lake, then here it is. It's a short drive to Noosa, but you will love sitting on the pub porch watching the little kids rolling down the grassy slope, chatting to locals, drinking good coffee or beer, then wandering around the village of 366 people who will chat to you and show you their gardens and maybe take you sailing ...

Then pack your bags.

What a lovely spot! We go to Boreen Point very often, but as we stay only 25 minutes away, we don't stay over. On this occasion we treated friends of ours to a weekend away and booked 2 rooms (units 2 and 3) and stayed the Saturday evening. The units were all that we required for our short stay and the kids enjoyed the balcony (what a view!) as it was not fully closed off (see pics) and we could hop between the units on the balcony side.
Kitchen has all the basics plus plug-in hotplates if needed, but we cooked breakfast in the electric frying pan. Nice large fridge (not the usual bar fridge) so we could store all our leftover BBQ meat (we used the outdoor BBQ's by the water's edge, and the food and drink for the weekend.
The only down-side is not unique to this motel, but often found: not sound-proof. We did hear the neighbour's TV till late and their shower run at 5:20am, but this is to be found at more places than just this one, and won't stop us from coming again.
We will be back!
Thanks Mary and Brian for a lovely stay, and for keeping an eye on the hobie during the floods ...

Very friendly owner/managers. Rooms were clean and spacious. We were attending a function at the hotel down the road and the Motel is just a short distance away. Also a nice easy 1 minute to the lake beach and swimming area. Self catering area in room is great. A quiet peaceful place to stay for a weekend away

One of the motorcycle groups that hubby rides with decided that a weekend at Boreen Point was a great idea. So we found ourselves there for two nights on the weekend just past. Most of the group booked into the pub up the road, but we decided we needed a bit more luxury than shared bathrooms, so we booked ourselves into the Lake Cootharaba Motel.

When hubby rang to let them know we would be arriving late on the Friday afternoon, I knew we were in for a great weekend when Brian (the owner/manager) mentioned that if the office was already closed, it would be because he was at the pub for the live music that would be on Friday night. We made it prior to Brian leaving and booked into our lovely room.

The motel is only small - five rooms in total and a family unit. We scored what I think is the best room in the place - Room 5 - right down the end. With gorgeous views across the lake (all rooms have views, so don't worry about missing out) it was simple but lovely.

The room itself has a small kitchenette (with microwave, hotplate, fridge, cutlery, glassware, plates etc), decent sized (and fabulous strong) shower with a separate toilet. The bedroom was a good size with room for a table and a couple of chairs and the bed was not to bad - a little hard for our liking, but you get that. The pillows were divine and made up for the slightly hard bed. Best of all was the really big balcony - as I said with lake views) - we enjoyed sundowners and nibbles out there one afternoon. And the price is fantastic!

The motel is easy to find on the main road into Boreen Point - it was just a quick 10 minute stroll down to The Apollonian Hotel (which is rather well known - great spot for drinks/meals/music/sunday-session) and also just a quick 2 minutes down the stairs beside the motel, to the lake, the general store and the sailing club.

Boreen itself if a lovely little spot - only small but very charming. There are lots of great spots around the lake to grab a bit of sand and enjoy the relaxation. And the lake itself is pretty shallow, so a great place for families as the little one's can enjoy the water without worries of waves etc. I also saw loads of folk out on wind surfers, canoes and fishing in the lake. Anyway loved it, will likely return at some point.

After discovering Noosa Head was as busy as central London, I headed north to find somewhere away from busy traffic and Boreen Point was perfect. When I first got there the motel was deserted, apart from the owners' dog. Rather than wait around, I headed down the hill to the lake. Wandering around the waterline I came across a large ray type fish in the shallows stirring up the muddy bottom, presumably to dislodge potential food. From there I joined a local boatman to the shop/cafe, where a burger based lunch was enjoyed, though some fly swatting was necessary! This meal it transpired was only available at lunchtime, so if I had come back later, I would have gone hungry.
Back to the motel, the owners returned from a shopping trip and soon offered me a lake view room. Yes you could see the lake, but there was also quite a few untidy buildings between the motel and the lake. Saying that, being perched up high did make for a quieter stay.
The room was well equiped and clean, with a comfortable bed.
Dinner would entail a drive to a hotel a mile or so down the road, but my lunchtime burger kept me going until the next morning!
When I awoke, I heard a noise on my balcony and when I went to investigate, I was confronted by a large wild turkey strutting about
The only slight negative was that it is a good idea to wear mosquito repellent as in this area they are active at dawn and dusk.

We stayed two nights at the Beach House, which is self-contained and has a covered deck which looks directly out over the lake. The accommodation was very comfortable and quiet (mid-week) and the owners were very friendly and helpful. It's pretty laid back and not luxurious or new, but well equipped with two bedrooms (two queens and a single), functional kitchen, big TV, insect screens, fans, one air conditioner (in one bedroom) and one good bathroom (there is an extra toilet as well). There was no wardrobe for hanging clothes but each bedroom had hooks for coathangers and there is one large set of drawers in one bedroom. It's a lovely, quiet, relaxing location with easy access to the lake. The lake is pretty shallow and there are some nice sandy beaches for the kids, one of which is directly in front of the motel. You can hire kayaks and it would also be a good spot for SUP or windsurfing. It is about 30 mins drive from Noosa and six thousand times quieter! The little shop is nearby which supplies the basics but beware, it closes at 3pm! The nearest big supermarket would be in Tewantin which is 15 mins drive.

The Beach House is ideal for friends or families. Fully self contained with enough of everything. Has a large covered deck overlooking the lake. Walking distance to all local facilities. Definitely worth many return stays.

Three stars is comparative to swish places which aren't available here and I recommend this unpretentious good value friendly motel with delightful water views. Rooms vary considerably from multi bedroomed with a large deck and kitchen to compact bedsits with a tiny kitchenette and small balcony. I had the latter and was happy enough with that and friends had other apartments including the largest one with great views and a large deck where we enjoyed pre dinner drinks and a barbecue. You can watch the sun rise from your balcony.

It's about 50 metres walk to the water where you can swim, kayak, picnic and birdwatch and 300 metres to the pub where you can have a decent pub meal.

We stayed in the 'beach house' for a couple of nights. It was a great 'house' with a nice view over the water and right in the middle of town. It was clean, well maintained and pretty spotless. The only minor complaint is that it could do with a few more amenities. One bath towel each, no hand towels. No coffee plunger, cheap salt and pepper shakers. Instant coffee and tea with a couple of bikkies. One split-system heater for the whole house. Just not quite enough heating power for a cold winter night. While the owners were lovely people and wanted you to enjoy your stay there were no little 'extra' things in the house that would have added to the stay. We had a great time and it was a nice place but for what you pay there should be that little 'extra'. Overall a very nice place to spend a couple (or few) days.
