Stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights. A floating hotel, build with local building materials on the banks of the famous river Kwai. The villas are a great experience, with balcony's overlooking the river. The mornings spend on the balcony, sipping coffee and watching the sun rise is a sublime experience

The Float House is a wonderful, unique experience. From the moment you step onto the long boat for the 10 minute trip up river you are in a different world. The place literally floats on the River Kwai. As such, it moves, particularly whenever a boat goes past, which can be quite often. The rooms are very comfortable and double sliding doors open onto a floating platform where you can relax to a gentle sway. You really feel that you are in the middle of nowhere. The only disappointment is the service. The reception staff were not as welcoming or friendly as they might be and service in the restaurant isn’t great in that they are not very attentive and a bit haphazard. The a la carte menu serves good quality Thai food as does the buffet and although inexpensive by western standards, is slightly expensive by Thai standards. By training their staff on the finer points of customer service, this amazing experience could be a 5 staff experience.

There are many floating hotel options on the River Kwai in this area however the Floathouse is by far the best quality experience in terms of room design, location, and the outstanding facilities. beautifully located and easy to access by boat from the nearby boat ramp. Rooms are absolutely beautiful, well appointed, very comfortable and set up for pure relaxation. The only minor downside here is you are virtually a 'captive audience' for the restaurant and the food is very average - but great restaurant service and the restaurant outlook is spectacular. A highly recommended Hotel.

If you're looking for something unusual and different from the typical hotels then this is it! You feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. The rooms are beautiful and to a high standard, although a few bits and pieces may be missing, such as a tea bag or sugar. For us, we were missing the latter plus new towels. This may be due to the fairly remote location with stock not always readily available. We did get the towels in the end, but it took a couple of hours before we received the towels If you get boat sick then this is not for you, as each time a boat passed by outside your raft villa, the more the unit would swing as the waves hit your villa. The downside is the food. There is no variety of food, same fruits each day such as pineapple and papaya. If you're there for a few nights, it does get boring. Only instant coffee is provided, and plain food. Nothing out of the ordinary. The highlight of our stay however, was jumping into the river, swimming with the current and catching the steps at the end of one of the villas, only to the repeat the jump again!

We feel happy to learn that overall, our latest guest received a pleasant experience while spending memorable moment with our quality accommodation. However, as you commented in regard to boat issue, may we further explain that May we further explain that first passing boats do start at 8 am. There should be minimal boats passing through the hotel after 6 pm. We also use rubber to support the joint to reduce the impact of the noises to the rafts. We have just discussed to the boat drivers to slow down their engine while passing by our floating resort and this should definitely minimize the shaking concern. Regarding food, typically our chef always meticulously cook and daily serve fresh food and new produce every meals as well as prepare the sufficiently variable menu choices so that our client would be provided with the greatest cuisine while being with us. Additionally, we always get a lot of good compliment in terms of adequate breakfast from patrons around the world. Nevertheless, after hearing your observation, we have just discussed your comment with our chef and restaurant team so that the better development and successful outcome would be appropriately proceeded. It was my first visit at The Float House and first hangout after Covid19 lockdown decline. I made prior booking since early of May just searching from google of a nice relax place by the river. I chose The Float House by the pictures in its website. I checked my route and found it was a bit trouble as i need to park the car at pier and take the small boat to the hotel. During my way i stop to have lunch somewhere further from the City of Kanchanaburi, the hotel girl called me to lead the direction which I feel good about it. Finally, we found the pier, small but safe. I recommend not wearing skirt coz when hop on and off the boat, it was quite uncomfortable. Anyway, it took less than 10 mins to the hotel, wowww i must say that. Looking from the boat, it just like a heaven, good decoration and perfect location. The room is big and very comfortable bed, nice terrace, clean, all amenity provided. The Shampoo, bath gel, hair conditioner is so good smell, relax. I spent 3D2N hear without going out, so all meal was taken by hotel restaurant, Good breakfast and other meal is pretty ok. it's worth of the money I pay and I would come back again and again definitely.

We loved the room and jumping into the river. The hotel is nice enough to be a honeymoon class resort, but we were frustrated with the food and high price of activities. Both buffets are underwhelming. For breakfast, the highlight was probably three ingredients on the omelette station. For dinner, the restaurant seemed to forget about us entirely —we got one order of five after waiting 45 minutes and then we just gave up after an hour of waiting. They offered us the dinner buffet but most of it was gone and not replenished.
The underwhelming food and expensive activities mean you should not stay here longer than one night because you’re trapped. Fun fact: only old white people and young Asian couples stayed at this hotel.
The restaurant should either make the buffet great or give up on it. In its current form, it’s just a scam.

Excellent relaxing stay Stayed for 3 nights, and wish we had stayed longer. We arrived by car, and there is limited parking at the top of a flight of stairs down to the resort. Don’t take too much luggage, travel light is the order of the day! It was an easy check in, we had booked from Agoda, and everything was ready. Loverly airy room with a large canopied bed, separate washing room, with separate toilet and separate shower room. Double doors open onto a fantastic little balcony, with beach chairs and private attached raft with a swing seat on. You can sit on the raft and put your feet in the water, loverly and cool! Some people were entering the water to drift down the hotel front, it is compulsory to wear a life jacket, of which there are plenty around the accommodation. There is a loverly dining room, that serves breakfast and all the meals, with a very well equipped bar. Food was very well prepared and reasonably priced. There are sights around the area, but we found it so relaxing we stayed on the raft and outside in our room. We did hire a long tail boat, with driver, and went up the river, which is very fast flowing in some areas, and take in the marvellous scenery. Well worth it. The hotel organised this for us, and we were picked up and set down from reception. Overall a fanatic get away, in a loverly setting and amenities. We will be going again!

This is a very special place. A hotel on the river with the 60 or so rooms in a row on pontoons each facing the river. The reception and restaurant being in the middle. You can float in a life vest along the river from one side of the resort to the other. The rooms are spacious and you get your own deck on the river. For me this is a four star resort. Five star room, three star food. Some lacking services and amenities. There is no pool but I didn’t expect one for this type of resort. Overall a great and relaxing stay. My only real disappointment is the breakfast which is lacking and bland (as many have commented on). I noticed that the resort gives a standardized reply to this. Which is fine, at least they take time to read reviews. But improving on the breakfast is likely not on the agenda.

We stayed for two nights at the Floathouse River Kwai. The rooms were quite spacious and clean. You really are floating right on the water with some parts of the floor you can hear the water running. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The room is quite reasonably priced for your own private room and deck on the water. You are kinda stuck eating at their restaurant, but there is quite a variety and the food and beer prices are reasonable for a ‘captured’ guest. The food was very good, but sometimes very spicy for our tastes. The tours are a little pricy and our guide barely spoke English which was disappointing. We finally gave up asking questions we wanted answered because she had no idea what we were asking. We took the 3rd class train from Bangkok. That is the only option, but cost only $3.50USD. It was 5 ½ hours and not bad on the way there in the morning. The return ride was in the afternoon and very hot. We now wish we would have paid the $180USD for the return in a car. All in all, we loved the Floathouse and would highly recommend it.

The perfect location and getaway. Sitting right on and in the river with the sounds of the river right below you lure you to sleep. You are brought to the resort via boat and your surroundings are Mountains, The river and a Mow village on the mountain behind you. The rooms are amazing adding to a perfect experience. The staff were great and very friendly. The Restaurant had a large menu with alot of very good and wide range of options. Wish I had a free day just to relax a full day at this property. Highly recommend this place.

I organised through the Float House to be picked up - it includes a boat ride from the pier so this seemed easiest to my mind. They were very well organised, and quickly answered emails the day before we were collected.
There are more places to choose from in the Sai Yok area.
