Waipoua Lodge is a little piece of luxury etched in history where you can experience true New Zealand hospitality whilst travelling Northland’s Twin Coast Discovery Highway. This circular route provides two diverse coastlines which offer in just one region, so much of the natural environment which is our beautiful Aotearoa. Nestled on a ridge overlooking the vast Waipoua Forest – home of the ancient and iconic kauri trees, Waipoua Lodge offers relaxing, warm and authentic New Zealand hospitality and the perfect location from which to explore the beautiful and often undiscovered Kauri Coast - Pathway to Northland and Naturally New Zealand’s Ancient, Eco & Cultural Destination. With the mixture of yesteryear in the old Kauri lodge, home to artefacts from the Kauri logging era, to the four acres of garden and tranquil bush walk surrounded by pasture and forest you will be inspired and all within an easy 3 hour drive from Auckland.

Ann and Fiona are wonderful hosts. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. Free coffee, tea, chocolates and port(!) in the room. The evening meal option is a must, the service provided is second to none. Make this a luxurious part of your Northland tour. You won't regret it. We certainly will be going again

The location is excellent -- within a short driving distance to the Kauri forests and the beaches. Our hosts -- Fiona and Ann -- were very friendly and helpful. The food was great. We stayed in our own little house which was a bit on the rustic side -- but bright and clean. The grounds around the lodge are well kept and there is a private forest walk. The main lodge has a lot of historic photos and artefacts from the Kauri logging era. We really enjoyed staying at Waipoua Lodge. We would certainly come again.

This hotel is everything you could want for a relaxing break on the Kauri coast. We were in the calf pen a fabulous suite (even better than the photograhs). Dinner and breakfast were excellent. An immaculate propoerty with brilliant hosts. Stayed just one night and wish it had been more.

The new owners, Ann and Fiona, had just taken over this lodge a week before our stay and were still on a learning curve regarding food service. That said they were very gracious and the facility is lovely. There is a nice short walk just below the grounds.
