Detailed Reviews

This is a 5 star B&B and deservedly so. There are 4 good size suites, beautifully appointed with modern style en-suite bathrooms. The building is situated in the middle of lush farming land (the building was previously a farm house) but only a short drive from Shrewsbury (about 15 - 20 minutes). Breakfast was a genuine home cooked meal with locally sourced products and through the window of the dining room you could see the chickens which had laid the eggs you were eating - the nearby town of Dorrington is a short drive away with several quality restaurants. There is a comfortable sitting room for guests and on arrival we were warmly greeted by the hostess with a delightful afternoon tea. Because there are only 4 guest rooms, the farm house lends itself to a warm, intimate atmosphere. Because it is a farm house, the only way to the rooms is by a stair case so disabled access is limited to those who can climb stairs. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and heartily recommend Grove Farm House.

We stayed at the Grove Farm hotel as a stop off point on the way to Wales with a view to breaking up the journey and a buffer between work and starting a holiday
This place was perfect, easy to find but a world away from everyday life, very relaxing, Liz greeted us and made us feel very welcome.
We stayed in the duck egg room which had a lovely view from the bed, everything was very clean and tidy, nice en-suite shower
Very nice breakfast to set us on our way to start our Holiday

We stayed in the Beech suite cottage, wow, extremely tastefully decorated, underfloor heating throughout, and a log burner! Made for a very cosy and relaxing stay. Absolutely nothing to add that would have improved our stay. Highly, highly recommend.

A fantastic B&B - well beyond value for money! The house dates from the late 1700's and is just wonderful. En-suite bedrooms couldn't be better - exceptional cleanliness and quality of bedlinen, towels etc., peace and quiet just amazing. Comprehensive breakfast hard to beat. The welcome and support from Liz just exactly what travellers want. Gives almost everywhere else a run for their money and leaves them all wanting in some way.

The beautiful old market town of Shrewsbury was the chief reason for our visit to Shropshire and the basis of our trip to the United Kingdom this time, so we wanted to find somewhere special to stay and through my trawling on the internet, Grove Farm House exactly fit that bill and the reality when we arrived was every bit as good as expected!
Condover is a small town not far from Shrewsbury and Grove Farm House is just outside the town of Condover, set in lovely gardens and beautiful farmland. The Georgian architecture of the main farmhouse is appealingly simple and inside has been tastefully decorated in a cozy, yet chic, country style by owner, Liz (who grew up here, moved away and has since returned to her childhood home with her husband and children to run this wonderful B&B).
Being enamoured with Georgian buildings we stayed in the main farm house rather than one of the self contained options in the lovely outbuildings, opting for one of the rooms with a shower (rather than a shower over a bath) and so chose the "Duck Egg" room at the top of house. A word of warning, the two flights of stairs could be ardous if you are not particularly agile. The view over the garden and paddock with a flock of sheep was truly charming (as was waking to the baa-ing of said sheep every morning!) and the fresh vase of flowers on the windowsill, selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and home made shortbread on offer was a lovely touch! The original Georgian room has been cleverly divided to provide an en suite bathroom of excellent size (equipped with mirror, basin, toilet heated towel rail and large shower as well as plenty surface area to place your toiletries on the bulkhead that hides plumbing pipes) and a good sized wardrobe / dressing area with a full length mirror. Along with a television, desk and chair as well as an easy chair, the room contained literally everything you could possibly want including extra surface space on the deep window sill.
Remember to bear in mind the age of a building such as this: ceiling heights in the bedrooms are lower than modern norms, floorboards may creak a little and some (like those in our room) have a distinct dip in places but all of this adds to the great charm and privilege of staying in a home of antiquity. I would add another warning here... as we discovered very quickly, the plumbing is also different to what we experience in modern housing - one must give the cistern time to refill (at least 10 to possibly 15 minutes) before attempting to flush the toilet again so don't panic if nothing happens should you attempt to flush in quick succession... and try to plan accordingly! :-)
Downstairs is a lovely high-ceilinged sitting room equipped with plenty of brochures, pamphlets and books on things to see and do in the area, if these do not inspire you to explore, nothing will. Across the hall is the breakfast room where Liz serves her phenomenal breakfasts.
Liz is lovely, epitomising everything a B&B hostess should be: welcoming, accommodating, knowledgeable on the area, and a great cook (her breakfasts were a fantastic start to each day). After a dreadfully long 30+ hour journey from Australia wearing the same clothes, on our first day, Liz very kindly laundered what we were wearing. In addition, she offered us wonderful suggestions about historic homes to visit in the area, restaurants, other lovely nearby villages and information about the Shrewsbury Park & Ride service (the best and cheapest way to enjoy the beautiful market town).
We found Grove Farm House to be quite centrally located and an excellent base to not only explore the Shropshire countryside but also parts of nearby Wales. Our four nights were barely enough to give us a taste of the area (and by all accounts we packed in far more than most!) so a return visit has been earmarked for sometime in the future and Grove Farm House is sure to be our accommodation of choice once more.

We have enjoyed a fantastic stay at this family run B&B. The service was great and we felt very welcome... Arriving late in the evening we thought we had missed out on homemade cake, but in our room was some surprise homemade shortbread! Scrummy! A period living magazine was also another unexpected finishing touch.
The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the absolute peace and quiet with views overlooking the garden.
Everything felt like quality as soon as we stepped through the door.
The breakfast was all locally sourced and tasted delicious.
A truely beautiful stay, cannot fault this place- can't wait to come back to stay and escape the rat-race! Thank you.

I have been staying in the cottages at Grove Farm for nearly a year when I came to visit my Father who has been in deteriorating health. Sadly my Father passed away and in booking accommodation for the funeral not only is Liz doing bed and breakfast she has even offered to look after my dog whilst we are at the funeral. If that isn't going the extra mile I don't know what is! The self catering units are beautiful, tastefully decorated with high quality bed linen, towels etc. So much care has gone into them that you have everything you need for a more that comfortable stay. The cottages are peaceful and relaxing plus you have plenty on your doorstep to explore. Equally if you just want to claim some down time I can not think of anywhere else to do this. I shall carry on visiting Grove Farm as it holds very many happy memories. Thank you Liz for everything.

We were here for 3 nights in one of the very well appointed self- catering suites which really lacked for nothing. After a very long and somewhat hungry drive from London the Nespresso coffee machine and the Tupperware of home- made shortbread were extremely welcoming. We were part of a wedding party and the dinner that Liz cooked for the12 of us the night before the wedding was really delicious, as were the 2 breakfasts she served. Grove Farm was the perfect base for us while we were in Shropshire.

Found on Tripadvisor, and as usual, the customer reviews gave a very accurate account of what to expect - which was warm hospitality, great comfort, and delicious breakfasts.
Liz is a wonderful hostess, who immediately makes you feel at home, and we look forward to a return visit very shortly.
