Detailed Reviews
Just returned from a ski week staying at this hotel with my husband and daughter. We had 2 very comfortable rooms with lovely views and a great bathroom with a fab shower with plentiful hot water. The hotel experience was excellent. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, recommending and booking restaurants for dinner and advising about ski equipment and lifts. The closest lift was a short 5 minute walk away. There were many restaurants within 5 minutes walk away and many more up in the medieval city which is a 20 minute walk or 5 mins by (frequent) bus or taxi, and definitely worth a visit.

Wonderful experience at Hotel Vauban. We stayed for a week to ski, on arrival at 11am we were delighted to be able to check in after a 3am start. During the week all the staff were so nice to us. The reception were excellent and spoke excellent English. Rooms were comfortable plenty hot water and comfortable beds. Great to recommend and book Resturaunts for us. 5 minutes to ski lifts. Would highly recommend this hotel. Thank you very much to everyone at Hotel Vauban.

Staff could not have been more helpful and friendly.
Anything requested was attended to.
The rooms were large compared to other European hotels, seperate bathroom and separate toilet.
The hotel is situated centrally in Briancon and close to restaurants.

Great location and rooms. Good breakfast, poor internet coverage and speed. Not one of your pictures will upload! Phone data coverage is poor in the hotel also.
You are right in the center of town with a river view or city view.
You stay here because it is right in town, with nice updated rooms.
Park in town in garages

I stayed here based upon the advertising. The WiFi is NOT in any of the rooms only the lobby. I asked a number of times if there was an Issue at the desk as well as directly to the General Manager. They assured me it works in the rooms and they would reset the router. Well signs in the elevator and front desk state WiFi only in the lobby. Why not be truthful when asked.
The odors in the hotel and third floor are those of Indian cooking, not a good thing. The bed pads must be synthetic creating heat in the night. Speaking of heat, it did not appear there was any in the room, I searched but found no way for heat to be created other than via the bed pad.
Would I stay here again, never. The best thing is the parking. All rooms were taken and I later figured out why, all rooms taken by construction workers who get a great rate compared to the 80E I was charged.

Quite a large hotel in Briancon, professionally run and clearly popular. with a good bar and restaurant with a large outdoor eating area. The rooms are great, I was upgraded to a suite which had a bathroom in between the bedroom and the lounge. The shower was exceptionally good, the bed comfortable and the living area large and comfortable. It has a lift.
The breakfast room was large and comfortable with a good buffet selection including boiled eggs and fresh fruit. Coffee, as in most French hotels, was lovely and breakfast was a good start to the day.
Only complaint was that the mattress protectors might have been waterproof so despite the sheets being of a good quality cotton, I felt sweaty in bed.
The motorbike parking was a very large garage at the side of the hotel, locked at night, room for probably 20 bikes or more.
I'd stay here again !

This hotel is not the most luxurious in Briancon but well worth a visit. Staff are qualified and helpful, the rooms are clean and bathrooms are recently renewed. Some little quircky things: if you have a room with a seperated toilet, the door opens to the inside and you have to behave like some gymnast to get in (and out). Showers are fine but why not close it altogether, water gets everywere with those half open walk-in showers. A splendid garage for the motorcycles and a good place for larger groups (we were with 37 persons). The billing in conjunction with the PlanB restaurant could be more fluent.
