When we reached the hotel the main door was closed, one member of the team was at the reception serving another customer. We ring several times the bell and we even knocked at the window. The guy looked at us but he didn't open the door until he finished serving the other costumer. Temperature outside was below 0°C and we stayed outside almost 10 minutes.

If I hadn't booked, I never would have come in. From the outside it looks abandoned. Very basic room with poor decor. Bathroom with window. Reserved parking. From on a noisy road. Breakfast is a real surprise with great croissants.

The worst service we have ever experienced - and we have travelled quite a bit.
We booked the hotel 6 months in advance and the hotel confirmed the booking.
Then, when we sat in the transfer taxi with one hour left to the hotel they cancelled our reservations (all 5 rooms) and said the hotel was over-booked. The only hotel available was 110 km from Briancon - which costed us 500 euros in additional transfer costs that evening plus an additional 150 euros to get back to Briancon by train the following day. We also missed a full day of skiing - and unfortunately we had already rented skis and bought ski-passes.
If we got even a simple apology? - no...

Hotel de Paris is near the train station in Briancon. It is just a few blocks from a number of restaurants and shops, which puts it in a great location. The rooms are unpretentious, but the graciousness of the staff was exceptional. They were helpful whenever asked. And, oh, did I mention the yummy breakfast?

For one night it is acceptable but certain details of this structure are truly embarrassing: worn carpet on the stairs, detached and worn linoleum flooring in the room, water from the sink does not reach if you have just flushed the toilet, only one power socket throughout the room and further away from the bed.
