Detailed Reviews
The apartment/ hotel has good amenities eg jacuzzi and comfortable beds. But if you don’t want to be treated like cattle while checking in it’s not for you. One can only check in after 5pm when there is the whole reception full with ski bags and people. They do all by paper and since they are trying to check in vast numbers this just doesn’t work. I would advise them to just use a computer and have more of a system. Having said that the hotel is right next to the ski lift and it’s warm. They need to fix the check in also they forgot to get our ski passes from the lift which they said they would have once we arrive.

A group of 6 of us stayed at L'Aigle Bleu over the New Year period. The apartment is located right next to the main lift in Briancon and we could even see the lift from the window which was excellent.
The apartment had 3 spacious bedrooms, 1 with a double bed, 1 with 2 single beds and 1 with bunks. We had 1 main bathroom, 1 WC room and 1 shower room.
The apartment was very well equipped and had everything from cork screw to cheese grater. The kitchen included dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster and hob but NO oven. This wasn't really a problem for us but worth mentioning as may be for some people.
We had a spacious balcony which is always useful for cooling the alcohol!
The only negative is that the lockers provided for ski's/snowboards are VERY small and we had to keep some of our snowboards on our balcony although again this wasnt really an issue for us as the hotel has a lift.
The apartment block included pool table (2 euros). The jacuzzi's are small and can only really accommodate 4 people at a time. There are 2 jacuzzi's but unfortunately these were both out of action during our stay. There is also a reasonable size steam room and sauna which is perfect after a long day on the slopes.
There is a supermarket very close by and the walk into the old town takes approx 10 - 15 mins although is up hill most of the way.

Before you book a ski apartment, you must know that they're all small and they all charge for linen, so as is the norm, we booked a "6 sleeper" for 4, which was in fact a double bed and a bunk bed in two separate bedrooms, with a very good quality double sleeper couch in the lounge. Unlike most apartments, the wireless internet reached the room most of the time, and was included in the price, as was the TV.
As a new apartment, finished in 2010, everything is in good shape and in modern taste. The views are pleasing, the location is excellent and as a base for skiing, Briancon will take you in any direction, from Serre Che to Sestriere, Montgenevre, Puy St Vincent, Les Deux Alpes, Alpe D'Heux etc. If you take the Grande Galaxie ski pass with Puy St Vincent, you get all the resorts (max once per day at each) at half the price that Serre Che offers it, plus providing a couple discount.
As a town, Briancon is a little bigger than other ski offerings, so you have the Carrefour and Aldi to keep costs down, or if you're eating out you have a bit more variety to choose from. Getting to the town by public transport involves taking a train up from the south of France (via Gap) or taking the Italian train across to Oulx and jumping on the 10 euro 05voyageur bus. Getting to Grenoble is more of a challenge and I don't have an answer for you.
The kitchen of the apartment was suitably equipped and we were also able to do a load of laundry and tumbledrying. Free parking on the street is limited, so we decided to use the indoor parking under the hotel at 22 euros (they recently brought the price down) and it worked perfectly for us. The hotel has a no-boots-inside policy to maintain cleanliness and we found the ski locker perfectly adequate. Two ski hire shops were less than a minute walk away and one of them is covered with excellent rates through SnowBrainer. We cleaned the apartment ourselves on departure and there were no issues raised by the staff who spoke good English to the majority English guest list.
I spent hours looking for ski apartments, especially in the area, and the value for money was unparalleled. It's not a grand five star experience, but we were very satisfied.

+1
The good side of the residence is the location, as it is located in the immediate vicinity of the ski resort. We also liked the view of the fortress and the old town. But, unfortunately, we had very unpleasant experiences in the residence, which are the result of indifferent and unfriendly employees.
Before arriving, we reserved a (paid) parking space in the garage by e-mail, and when making the reservation, we informed them that the height of our car, which has a ski case on the roof, is 210 cm. When we wanted to drive into the garage, we luckily noticed that the height was 190 cm. No one apologized to us for the mistake, which would have caused damage to the suitcase and skis. We were then told at the reception that we can park in the free parking, which is 600 m away.
We experienced the next disappointment when we arrived at the apartment, which was dirty and very modestly furnished. One room had no wardrobe at all and the beds were very cheap and uncomfortable. There were very few glasses in the kitchen, basic necessities were also missing, e.g. cutting board. We informed the reception about the deficiency, but they did nothing to correct the deficiency.
We experienced next disappointment when we realized that there were no cleaning products for the bathroom and toilet in the apartment, which we had to clean ourselves. We went to the reception and asked them to give us suitable cleaners. We were offered a tablet for the dishwasher and a small bottle of dishwashing detergent. So it became clear why the apartment was so dirty. Apparently, the reception doesn't even know that the bathroom and the toilet can't be cleaned well with dishwashing detergent, and the guests don't take it with them on vacation either. But the staff doesn't care how clean their apartments are.
Furthermore, WiFi is not free in the apartment, but costs €16 per person. As it is extremely slow, it is better to use mobile internet. When booking, the sauna was also included in the price, but it was not working. They have "very friendly" warnings in the corridors that you will be evicted if you listen to music after 10pm. The staff doesn't even bother to clear the snow at the entrance.
The residence is a disgrace to the tourism of France and the EU. I travel a lot, I have been in more than 200 apartments and hotel rooms, but I have never experienced such an contemptuous attitude of the staff towards the guests.

The location of this hotel is quite good next to the ski lift. The apartments are nice and big but poorly furnished. we stayed 6 persons in a 8 person apartment but there was only 7 chairs for the dining table, the sitting room lounger and chairs would accommodate only 5 people etc.
But worst of all when checking out the reception demanded us to pay an additional 300EUR claiming we had not paid the full amount. After presenting the staff for proof of full payment they refused to refund the charge from my credit card, claiming it would be refunded by the head quarter office. As expected it has not happened. We booked directly with Nemea who manages the hotel so there is no excuse for this it can only be an attempt to cheat their clients. VERY SAD and unprofessional.

The best thing about this place is the location, as it is indeed just a few steps away from the main ski lift. The rooms are allright, the stuff is rather unpleasant (Although they are surprisingly communicable in English) and the skiroom extremely small (we only got a single locker for 6 people, which turned out to be too small to even fit 4 pairs of skis/snowboards).
Still, we would rate our stay a solid 4 stars, if not for the fact that the hotel simply stole from us after we left.
We secured a deposit using a credit card- before checking out, our room was checked by the staff and confirmed that it was clean and undamaged. All the people in our group who paid deposit in cash received their money back, while we were told that the hold on our card would be removed. Despite that, the next day we were charged 200 EUR and nobody from the hotel responds to our emails every since. I'll be forced to chargeback the transaction and hope for the best, but it was by far the worst example of a hotel fraudulently abusing their customers I've ever heard of.
So far I heard stories about car rentals acting this way, but never a recommended hotel. Stay away!

I am staying at this place for years and I am not going to change it. Location is excelent, apartments are nice (they should do something about Internet connection it was the worst connection I have ever seen), but I still love this place. Briancon is lovely place and Serre Chevalier is the best place to ski in Europe. The staff is very friendlly (rare for France, but they really are). So all in all, I will go next winter again.

This place has its great sides and also few flaws which coould be better but for this price you can hardly get anything similar anywhere else in the Alps. The lifts are maybe a bit slow comparable to some more modern ski areas but that's not even important since the views at 2800 are amazing and utterly beautiful. Ofcourse Serre Chevalier valley has 250km of ski slopes, there were about 70% open this time, very nice even though there was almost not any snow under 2000m. Location of this Residence is the most valuable part, 50m from the lift and in the center of Briancon. Flat for 8 was very nice, althougg not dusted when we arrived, friends said it is alwas like this at the openings, well i hope not. All in all we had a great stay!

Great Location of the hotel, just 100 meters from the ski lift. Apartments are spacious but feels like are made from carbon boards, practically no sound isolation between the rooms. Fitness centre is a mediocre with couple of bicycles and one very small jacuzzi.
Please beware if you want to do something that will make stuff do something more than they planned.
I travel a lot, by business and personal also, this was my third skiing trip just this season. I traveled all around Europe, and can say that have never experienced an insult from the stuff. Up until now, from the male receptionist. For asking to pay by cash, the other receptionist, and that happened after taking out my credit card.
For sure will never go to the same hotel again.

Briancon is a relatively sleepy ski town high up in the mountains. We were 2 families of 4 (kids aged 10 to 17) and it was fine for us - possibly not so good for party animals. These apartments are right next to the main ski lift and about 10-15 minutes walk from the old town which is lovely - steep uphill there but down all the way back.
The proximity to the ski lift certainly a big plus.
The apartments were of a decent standard and we had no fuss over inventory or check in/out. We left early on checkout and were not there for our final inspection but it was fine. We took cleaning things with us but there is a decent supermarket 5 minutes walk away.
We ate in most nights and there was just about room to squeeze the 8 of us round our dining table with some seats from next door.
We went to see the local ice hockey team play one night which was great fun.
We were in 2 bed apartment 113 which I can recommend as the free reception wifi comes in (its directly above) and it's larger than apartment 112 which our friends had next door, also 2 bed but no wifi.
The drive from the UK is long compared with other resorts and we got stuck in a terrible queue into the town - I assume this is the case on peak changeover weekends. It took 2 hours to do the last 5 miles into the town.
Overall we had a great holiday. The ski area is great, access from these apartments is also pretty good. Takes about 20 minutes to reach the top but you can ski all the way back down to within about a 5 minute walk of the apartments - but this was an icy red run (when we were there).
