Listen: They have a beautiful website, and it sounds like you'll be cared for. Plus, just look at that location! Right in the heart of Briancon. How could you go wrong? TRUST US: Don't book here.
READ THE REVIEWS
You'll find the same story. You'll have absolutely NO service. The site promises all sorts of goodies: "A mid-week clean is provided for all stays of 3 days or more. {We stayed for 6 nights. After day 3 came and went, we asked the guys in the bar downstairs to have a clean. We were told we'd get one. And didn't. Asked again the next day. Mind you, we just wanted an extra roll or two of toilet paper and a few fresh towels, and maybe a run-over of the front hallway floor. Nope. Never saw a single soul}. "A welcome pack of teas and coffee plus complimentary organic soaps are provided for your first day." {We found 8 tiny soap rounds - the hotel give-away kind of stuff. No coffee to be seen. There was an old, party-used box of Lipton basic tea bags in one of the shelves. I guess we could have used it.....}
NO EARLY ARRIVAL
Though the site declares several times in various places that, "early arrival can be arranged", don't believe it. Just like the rest of the people who booked (paying the full, non-refundable amount up-front), we called at 3pm when we arrived in to town (as the site suggests) and were roughly told, "NO. NO early entrance."
NO INFO / NO HELP PRIOR TO ARRIVAL
A phone call for more information at time of booking, to find out if there's an oven (we were told no, but in fact, there is a new countertop oven -- one positive!), and to determine how large the fridge is/was (told it was VERY small, though again, this was misinformation that falls to their benefit. There are, in fact, TWO fridges in the large apartment we rented). Long story short, calls made in advance to help us prep ended in misinformation and a highly dismissive attitude.
STAIRS FROM HELL. CHILDREN / SKI EQUIP. / LUGGAGE = TOUGH!
The big apartment is on the 7th floor, up incredibly steep stairs. Older people, people with knee issues, or any kind of health issue that would make stairs challenging should NOT stay there. Additionally, the stairwell light was burned out, pitching the top 3 flights of stairs in to darkness, both day and night. And of course, it wasn't fixed during our stay.
NO EQUIP STORAGE
There is NO PLACE to store skis, equipment, etc. If you have your own stuff, we'd strongly suggest you rent a locker somewhere in town. Additionally, hauling your stuff up and down the steep, dark numerous staircases would be daunting, to say the least. BEWARE.
POSITIVES
The view on the church directly across the square is lovely.
There are 2 fridges; plenty of space for prepped meals from home, etc. (in the big apt.)
There is a brand-new countertop oven, perfect for lasagna, casseroles, etc.
The clothes washer worked very well. NOTE: There IS a dryer, but...it is not hooked up. We never braved trying to get it going. There IS a wonderful, heated towel bar in one bathroom that worked well to dry socks, etc.
The woodwork is beautiful. Lots of wooden beams, etc.
The shuttle bus to the Prorel gondola is just outside the city gates, only 200 meters from the hotel.
The beds were comfortable. Plenty of pillows and blankets provided.
It was WARM (important on a ski holiday).
KEEP LOOKING
There are so many great places to stay in Briancon. While the charming view and pro website will draw you in, I strongly encourage you to keep looking! Your money would be far better spent somewhere where you can (a) access any sort of help / service, (b) get what's been promised and (c) have storage for all of your equipment so you don't have to lug it up and down that seriously steep/long/dark stairwell.
Have a great time in Serre Chevalier!
The apartment we had was for 6 people although it would be very cramped with 6 people. Good size for 4. It is tastefully decorated and clean.
Location is fine and parking is available within a 5 min walk in an open public carpark.
If planning to ski it is best to drive to the lifts. Italy is very close also.
Friendly host, great service, friendly owner - just like a home away from home. Appreciate it.
The 6-person apartment is spacious (we were 4), and it was very convenient to prepare meals and for the kids to have somewhere to rest and play. There was a homely feeling coming back every evening. Getting around Briancon and to the different connected resorts by car is very simple, I haven't tried the local bus. The ski shops are next to the Prorel lift and provide lockers so you don't have to carry your equipment around, however we just stored it in the car.
I definitely plan to come back
This small residence is located in the center of the ancient village of Briancon, and it offers very nice views of the tiny streets and of the Temple, just in front.
The small apartments are fully equipped with all you need and ambients are very well separated.
Cleaning and service are faultless.
"Ther is not a lift, better appartments in first floors... but unfortunately are the worst as noisy...."Read full review
