Stayed here for a long weekend in early March. The people were lovely, nice rooms and not far from cable car - left our skis and boots at Skiset so no skis to carry down the hill. Also handy for dinner in the old walled city. They stored our bags when we arrived early and left late, breakfast was good and it was quiet at night.

Stayed here for a week in a triple room with balcony. All in, great value. Breakfast is good for 10 euros. The hotel is situated half way up a steep hill between the old town and the center. I was skiing here but was lucky to have a locker at Krakatoa sports, it isn't possible to walk up the hill with ski boots on. The other negative about the hotel is that the road is very busy, even jammed at times so diesel fumes are ever present.
Otherwise it is all good and I enjoyed my stay here. Wi-Fi is fairly good and the room was comfortable and quiet.

Not bad even if my room was rather small and unpractical. For the rest it was clean an quiet, bedding was good and price soft. Pretty good breakfast as well. So overall a good choice and a good location as well as the hotel is in between the lower and higher towns. Note that nobody’s there after 8 PM for check in, but they have a box system and communication was good.

I have stayed at the Edelweiss many times and each time it gets better and better! I was there to ride the three HC mountains (Izoard, Galiber and Granon). All right outside the hotel front door. The location of the hotel is excellent. 15 minute walk to old town (up the steep hill). Breakfast is very nice and what you expect for a mountain town and for exercise. The room (superior double) was clean and quiet, as it faced the car/motor bike park (always lots of motos this time of year). The bed, shower, fridge, clothes storage were as expected/fine. The staff (Gregoire) very helpful despite it being very busy July with the Tour. Definitely my go to place in Briancon. Expect to return again.

Our group of six cyclists choose the Edelweiss as a base to explore some of the famous climbs of the French Alpes. The Edelweiss was a great choice with very friendly and helpful staff (a family run hotel), very good bike storage/maintenance area and full free laundry service. Rooms were spacious and comfortable in a homely style (ones that face the valley are the best). The terrific lounge and patio were a very relaxing spot for a inexpensive drink at the end of the day. The continental breakfast was plentiful and very fresh with lots of great tea and coffee. Parking on site was good and there is an additional area across the road. Unlimited choice of restaurants and sightseeing all within easy walking distance. Loved the stay and would definitely visit again.

We were travelling from Annecy south and Briançon met our requirements. We wanted a clean comfortable hotel - the room was recently well renovated and the bed comfortable. The bathroom had plenty of space and was also recently renewed. Parking is tight on the site but plentiful and more roomy opposite. The location is great for the old (and modern) towns. So why only three stars? Breakfast was only OK but we realised the fruit salad came out of a container. The problem was the bathroom with water dripping through from an upstairs bedroom - couldn't be fixed, but was it safe. The hairdryer connection to the wall was temperamental - was it safe? The receptionist seemed to think that because no one had reported the faults, they weren't serious. Hence three stars but potential for much better with a bit of effort.

Response from Hotel E, Gérant at Hotel Edelweiss
Responded 26 Aug 2017
Cordialement. Grégoire

A group of 9 friends stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in June 2014. The hotel is just brilliant, and the staff are fantastic. The rooms are well sized and clean and comfortable. We had half board and the food was exceptional, (home made croissants). What made the hotel really special was Stephanie and Gregoire, who are great hosts and made us all feel very welcome. Parking is available on site, and bicycles can be stored in a separate secure room inside the hotel. The hotel is located an easy walk to both the new and the old city. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

A nice hotel, nothing fancy. The building is not really renovated but is nicely touched up with some new layers of paint. The authenticity of the old building is still present, which we appreciated. We stayed in the family room that sleeps 4. It is not too big, but for a night's sleep it does the trick.
If you don't expect a modern room and amenities, this place will not disappoint you. They have some parking spaces reserved for motorcyclists.

We stayed here 9 years ago and went back again this July for 4 nights. The hotel enjoys a great location, half way from the old and the new town, which is very convenient. It's a lovely and comfortable hotel, our room was nice and bright and had a great bed. The bathroom was rather small, but nothing to complaint about.
Breakfast is great.
I would certainly recommend this hotel.

The room though a little small and cramped was good value and most importantly very clean and comfortable. We also had a lovely view of the mountains. The staff were pleasant and helpful and all in all we enjoyed our 3 night stay here. It is in a great position for visiting the old town just a short walk up the hill. There was no wifi reception in our room, but it was not a real problem as for casual use it was easy to go into the very pleasant and comfortable lounge and access it there.
The only real negative for us was that we are older travellers with some mobility problems and we arrived by train on a Sunday evening when there were no taxis at the station and no buses running. The hotel is about a 1.2km walk from the station and the last 500m is up quite a steep hill. This was very difficult for us with luggage, so just be aware. No problem if you arrive by car or can use a taxi, and we would recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a good value 2 star property.
