This resort is amazing!! A short boat trip from haapai to an island away from cars shops and people. We were welcomed ashore by Patti, Sammie and staff as the boat anchored for us to start our 6 days of bliss. The canopy trees provide shade and a cool breeze kisses our skin. Our accommodation was superb with everything we needed, out door bathroom open to the stars, mosquito net was tucked in each evening, fresh filtered rain water plentiful, a step to the ocean, a delightful hammock to sway in and sleep, read or just be mindful. Fabulous library of interesting books in the dining room. Breakfast lunch and dinner were exceptional, healthy and delicious made with love by Sammie. Our plates were piled high and seconds available. There is SUP, kayaks, snorkeling or for the brave, swimming with whales. Patti is a massage therapist and does an excellent job of relaxing the muscles in her special fale close to the sea. Yoga is available again Patti is the teacher. Many years of Patti’s extraordinary journey to this remote island in heaven have been given to guests to enjoy her skills and life’s lessons. Thank you for every minute of our time in your care.

My teenage son and i just spent 4 nights on this beautiful peace of paradise Patti and Sami have created. It was a lovely experience. We came right at the start of the season, so only one other family was there for the first 3 nights and then we had the whole place to ourselves for the last night.
If you want to disconnect and live a simple life on a tropical island, this is the place for you.
If you want air con and high speed wifi and motorised watersports and bars to visit/places to shop, this is not that place.
We snorkled, kayaked and walked around the whole island (4 hours with swiimg stops), read books, played games and talk alot with Patti and Sami.
Patti is a unique and inspiring woman, with such a beautiful heart, and so well read!
next time we will go for longer :)

This was our second escape to the perfectly named Serenity. We were afraid we might be disappointed--only because our first visit had been so amazing. Silly us! The experience was just as wonderful as we remembered. Patti, Semi and all the staff went above and beyond to make us feel like a welcome addition to the family. Mate and the kitchen crew even set up a romantic table for two out on the beach under the stars to help us mark our 25th anniversary.

The highlight of course is the whale watching/swimming. Special thanks to our guide Jack who kept us safe and found us some friendly giants who were curious enough to play with us. It is an experience we will never forget. On other days, snorkeling the reefs on both sides of the island was a real treat. So many different kinds of coral and beautiful fish just off-shore.

Serenity is the perfect place to unwind and get away from it all. Yes, it takes a bit more effort to get there, but it is so worth it. We are already plotting our return!

I absolutely love Serenity Beaches Resort, it's such a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing destination. There is no road, no traffic, no crowds. Just beautiful views and the sound of waves.
The rooms are unique, private and comfortable, just a few meters from the beach. The food is healthy and fresh. The team there is very friendly. Patti, the owner and manager is incredible. So hard working, genuine, and full of great stories. I cannot wait to go back.

Just perfect. Patti and Sammy were amazing hosts. Most amazing beaches I have seen in my life. Accomodation was perfect. Right on the beach but also tucked away in the bushes for privacy. They made lovely vegan food for us as well. We went in November so there were no whales but I wouldn’t change a thing. It felt like we were the only ones on the island. Can’t wait to come back with friends

This was the 2nd of 3 places in Ha'Apai we stayed at during our honeymoon this August.

Let me start by writing down some punch lines:

- Miles of beautiful white beaches and crystal clear water, all for yourself.
- Super romantic bungalows, that can be opened up on 3 sides so you'll fall asleep with the sounds of nature
- Great breakfasts & lunches, but super tasty dinners which are prepared by the Tongan Brothers using local produce and their own recipes.
- Smiles, smiles, smiles.
- Fresh coconuts are taken from the palm trees on request, no charge.
- Bon fire on the beach, a few kavas, guitars and the Brothers singing their favorite Tongan tunes

Patti, the American owner and her partner Sammi are more than Amazing. They manage the place well and recently started to offer Whale Watching trips with their own boat.

Before arriving at Serenity, we were 'warned' about the non-availability of hot showers. Firstly, we didn't care too much as we were happy to take 'cold' showers during the day, but to our surprise Serenity offers eco-friendly shower bags. Imagine black bags filled with 10 L sweet water (from the well) which have been lying in the sun all day before being brought to your bungalow. You hang them up and there you have your hot shower! You're not wasting water nor energy, which are precious elements on Uoleva Island.

There's no electricity in your room. But you don't need it: You can recharge your phone/camera/laptop in the afternoon when the generator is turned on and in your room they lit up solar-charged candles while the sun has set and you are having dinner. When you come back in your bungalow, it's romantically lit and offers ample of light. (and if it's not enough, you should use your torch).

They don't offer Internet/Wifi but you won't miss it if you're looking a place to 'get away from it all'. However, if you really need to stay connected: Buy a local sim card on arrival at the airport and opt for the data package. There's good 3G coverage at Serenity.

Our 6 day stay at Serenity was the highlight of our 3 week honeymoon....

We have just spent a wonderfully relaxing four nights at Serenity - it was perfect.

Semi's attention to detail was incredible - from setting the table for each meal to putting down the mosquito net and lighting the candles in our fale each evening.

The food was beautifully prepared seafood, chicken & vegetables - served to the table.

There is no bar here so you are able to stock up on drinks before you leave Pangai.

We got into the relaxing mode so much so we enjoyed lazing in the hammock, reading, swimming in the crystal clear water, snorkelling and the odd exploratory walk around the island. We were able to totally switch off from the outside world.

While the weather wasn't sun shining the whole time, which we were aware of coming in January, even when it was cloudy and there was the drizzle of rain it was incredibly relaxing.

Unfortunately due to a volcano eruption and the cancellation of our Real Tonga domestic flights we are now waiting in Pangai an extra two days before we can get back to Tongatapu and have had to rearrange our international flights, but all the while Semi was extremely helpful in finding us a place to stay and liaising with the airline. Our only advice is if you absolutely must catch your international flight make sure you transfer from Ha'apai the day before (or two days before) to allow time for plans to change!! Otherwise we have slipped into Tongan time.

We had a wonderful stay at Serenity and would recommend to our friends seeking true rest & relaxation.

Answer from Serenitybeaches
The food is fantastic, according to guests. We are no where near Sandy Beach and Matafonua. The only option is Sea Change.
Answer from Serenitybeaches
Suzanne. I am booked from the 19th of July onward so you would need to plan to arrive on the 11 and depart on the 18th to have 7 days. People from Australia usually arrive on Tuesday on Virgin and depart on Tuesday (Monday from Ha'apai) so that would allow 6 days. You can make all the plane arrangements form Australia. You can get Real Tonga tickets on line. Would you all be comfortble in one room? The rooms are 320 TOP a night and the food is 120 TOP for each person, a day, for three meals. Trip from airport to the island is 50 TOP each way per person paid to a local boat driver. Young children are free. Thanks for your interest. Patti

one reviewer said there is no bar - does that mean wine and beer is not available? thanks
Answer from Serenitybeaches
We do have wine and beer. :)

We are on Uoleva island. You can walk 10 k around the island, snorkel right from the shore, hang in a hammock and read or get a massage.
