Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We felt unwelcomed, some people skills were seriously lacking. Has an Airbnb feel but the unit was fine. Nicely decorared in beachy style. The stairs inside are steep and noisy. Theres no oven, although we didnt need one. Good location, The Fishwife is an easy quick stroll away and serves crayfish freshly caught and is adjecent to Moeraki Tavern.

Our unit was spotlessly clean. It's not a new property, but is well maintained. Bed was extremely comfortable with quality linen. These units have plenty of room, much more than we needed for just the two of us! Would easily suit a family or two couples travelling together. Loved Moeraki Village - a lovely, quiet place to stay.

The local tavern is a fun, busy place where you can get a meal or just go for a drink. The FishWife serves excellent fresh fish and chips from a caravan, but operates restricted hours. Ten minutes’ drive away in Hampden you can also get excellent blue cod and chips. Enjoy them sitting outside at the provided tables.

An adequate stay for us since we don’t have mobility issues. It was a 2-level unit with 60’s vibes. We had a couch & TV on the lower level along with the bathroom & kitchenette. The stairs going up to the bedrooms were quite steep, narrow & uneven. It would have been problematic coming down them at night to use the bathroom. We appreciated the milk provided for coffee and the short walk to the tavern for our evening meal.

These four motel units are in the perfect location - handy to the tavern/jetty and with great sea views. Self check-in was easy and efficient and the units are very clean, spacious and well equipped. The two large bedrooms are upstairs (one with amazing views), with kitchen, bathroom and living downstairs. The unit was easy to heat and had sensor night lights on the stairs which was handy for those midnight bathroom trips. Christine was on-site in the morning to deal with any issues. A great spot for a family to stay.

A very spacious and very comfortable 2 bed apartment, if a little old fashioned. Amazing value for money. Beautiful views over the bay and the harbour from lower and upper balconies. A nice walk along the beach to the Moeraki boulders in one direction and down to the harbour in the other. Christine was a friendly and helpful site manager. Recommended.

Spacious unit with great views from an upstairs bedroom. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Older style units but nicely furnished. Both bedrooms are upstairs and the bedroom at the back has the queen bed under the window and the light from the road shines in through the bottom of the curtains which was a little annoying, the bed was comfortable though and I got a decent sleep. Would book here again, good price!

What a gem, the perfect overnight stop. I wish we could have spent more time there. The unit was immaculate and well appointed. Large rooms and a great view. We will definitely be back during summer to try out the seafood and maybe do a spot of fishing.

We stayed for one night but wished we'd stayed for longer. The motel unit was spacious and spotlessly clean. I had my three grandson's with me (ages 7, 9 and 11 years) and we had a wonderful time. Lovely views from the bedrooms upstairs and very close to the beach which was an added bonus for the boys. We will definitely return again once the weather gets warmer so we can swim in the ocean. Next time, we'll book for longer :)

This is an older motel, but quite spacious and comfortable. The living area was downstairs with two bedrooms upstairs. The bedroom we used was comfortable. Overall I thought the complete motel could do with a bit of TLC but it was good value for what you got.

We spent the last 2 nights in this motel before flying back. When we arrived they were already booked and they told us that the reservation must be wrong because they didn't have our names. After showing the email with their confirmation, they said that anyway they were fully booked and tried to sell us a much more expensive accommodation as the unique alternative. Despite they recognize that it was their fault, they didn't do anything except trying to get more money.
We have never seen anything like that, not even in NZ where the rest of the hotels have shown a very professional and customer oriented attitude.
I will never recommend anyone to go there, there are much more interesting and beautiful accommodations in Moeraki to explore the area. It's a shame to find people like them trying to get advantage of travelers.
