Staying in a nearby Airbnb and our host recommended this hotel for food. Said it was very good and she was absolutely right. Menu had a good selection and daily specials. The layout was Covid compliant with plenty of space between tables and I regularly saw the staff use alcohol gel. We got starters and a main meal which were both fabulous. Sadly we had no room for desserts yet they looked great. By and far the highlight was the service. Geraldine is a star and so friendly, it was clear that she and Daniel were a real team. Both attentive and aware of all tables needs and basically rushed off their feet yet making it all look easy! Only in the area for a few days but we would happily eat there every evening. My father is ‘hard to please’ as they say and he gave it 5 stars so you know its good 😊…
Overall, we had a great stay. The staff was wonderful and the food was very good as well. Most places in Ireland don't have AC, they don't either - so on the rare occasion it's warm, your room might be as well. The first room were were given was HOT and right above the bar (very noisy). They switched us to another room that was great.
This hotel is well placed on the Main Street in Castleisland and the staff are pleasant, welcoming and helpful in spite of problems with Covid. However, it is in need of a complete overhaul, including carpets and redecorating. In my room wallpaper was peeling off and the curtains were missing hooks. If you have mobility problems, this is not the hotel for you. There are lifts but there are many steps between half landings. I note there is a disabled lift from reception on Floor 1 to the restaurant on Floor 2, but I think you need a staff member to operate it. There are no walk-in showers, but they are overhead in the bath and impossible to access with a disability. The food is adequate but not of a particularly high standard, but then you get what you pay for.
Stayed here as part of a coach party as a base for doing the Ring of Kerry and Dingle Bay. The bedroom was a good size and very clean. A good hospitality tray with ample supplies. Good selection at evening meal and good. The breakfast was buffet style and plenty of choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only negative was it wouldn't be very good if you were in a wheelchair as once inside the door were steps up to reception, didn't see any other way in, there was a lift but to get to the dining room there were steps also there aren't any rooms with walkin showers only showers over the bath. But saying that it was a very enjoyable stay and would go again
had a two night stay with dinner, recently.the hotel has a lot of charm, with a lot of older staff who have great experience and personal skills!the food was good and big portions and a nice cozy bar.the rooms are a bit dated and the beds a bit lumpy, but clean.the only negative is castleisland itself.while its a great location for touring, there was nowhere open for dinner apart from the hotel itself.
