Detailed Reviews
Spent two nights at Sonas and found perfectly satisfactory. House was in an upmarket area of Malahide close to the sea and shops. It was perfectly clean and tidy and the owner was welcoming.Room was rather small but we knew this in advance because there was an international cricket match being played.Even so the room was en suite.
The breakfast consisted of cereal, fruit juice, full Irish, toast or bread and jam,and tea or coffee. The quality of the food was excellent as was the cooking.
All in all a very pleasant experience.Although lacking some of the facilities of a 4 star hotel we enjoyed ourselves more.

I was looking for a bnb in Malahide. Glad I found this. Well signposted from the coast road. Reservation in order. I called for directions and they were spot on. Nice short walk into Malahide. I was driving so it was nice. To leave the car parked and have a few pints of the black stuff when I was there. We were up on the third floor but that was fine.

This B&B is in a great location, but the space leaves something to be desired. The odor in the hallway was old and stale. The towels were old and not replenished once used (but used ones removed). There wasn't anything other than hand soap provided and the water pressure in the shower was non-existent (we felt like we hadn't bathed properly and I couldn't even wash my hair.) Luckily, we didn't need heat, but I don't know that it would/could have been turned on. Guests do not have access to the sitting area as it is a part of the dining room and is locked other than during breakfast.

Checked in as arranged at 12 midday just to leave my case in the room, which was great to be able to do this. Came back at 11.00pm - room was quite chilly. A bit chilly overnight in bed. Up just before 8.00 am as had arranged breakfast at 8.30pm. Radiator did not start to warm up till 8.15 so room cold. But worst of all - shower stone cold!!!!! Breakfast ok but ...........

Good location. Clean. However arrived to very cold bedroom. No shower gel in bathroom.Only one towel despite double bedroom. Poor tea making/coffee facility. One cup only for making hot drink.
Poor hospitality to be honest.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Room was big and spacious but completely old fashioned. Likewise with bathroom. The living room and breakfast area hasn't been done up since the 80s. The woman who owns the B&B was constantly talking loudly on her phone about extremely personal matters. The breakfast was dried out and basic. However it is a 3 minute walk to malahide town and a 1 minute walk to the beach and lovely restaurants. Would not stay here again.

We had a great 3 night stay with jean and her husband .jean was very helpful to guide us on local areas to visit and also bus routes . We had a very early flight and they accommodated our early breakfast which they had no real need to . Very close to village , train station and some lovely close villages . Jean had an amazing sense of humour . Keep up the good work 💕

What a lovely find Sonas B and B was! Easy walk into town and just around the corner from the beach. Owner was lovely and place was spotless. Just 15 minutes from Dublin airport and yet quiet and very comfortable. Great beds and wonderful breakfasts. We really enjoyed our time at Sonas!

Perhaps not your typical B&B in Ireland but I have experienced others like it. This one is nestled within a bedroom community vs. a high trafficked, tourist area. Not unlike any regular suburban neighborhood except with a B&B operating in the home next door. The vibe is you were a guest in someone's home. A very nice home at that. With a very nice host.
Guests and host were open to chatting. That's normal in Ireland but the conversation was somehow different. I think that's because we were all guests rather than customers. People rather than just tourists who were crossing paths on individual journeys.
Sonas B&B provided personal service, willing and able to help troubleshoot any travel issues. Breakfast was excellent, custom to your likings if a full Irish breakfast isn't what you had in mind.
The attic bedroom was a bit tight for us but happy for the stay. Comfortable; albeit, snug.
Malahide appears to me to be a more affluent suburb of Dublin rather than a tourist destination. VERY close to the airport with access via side roads. Beach side, dining restaurants,... If I lived in Dublin, I'd want to settle here too (if I could afford to). I heard a variety of languages spoken here and not by tourists. Unique demographic here I suspect.
Thumbs up on the Sonas visiting guest experience! Don't hesitate to stay here, especially if traveling as a non-tourist.

the owners are very nice people and the house is very well appointed, it was quiet yet only a short walk from malahide in one direction and port marnock in the other. a few minutes from the house and you are on a most beautiful beach, we have stayed before and have never found fault with any aspect of the accommodation, breakfast was good and ready for you when you come down and a good selection of fresh food
