Detailed Reviews
We have stayed at White Sands before, impressed the first time, but unfortunately each visit since we feel the standard has considerably dropped.
The rooms are extremely dated and small. Unnecessary huge mahogany furniture and numerous mouldy lamps doesn't help. Walls were thin and someone had an alarm going off from 4am which lasted about an hour. TV reception was non existent. Looking back over a few years of reviews it is evident that we were not the only guests asking for the bottled water which is meant to be provided in the room! Like...how hard is it to supply or change the ancient welcome book!?
The bathroom like other reviewers have said was very small. Unsafe looking shower over bath. Toilet...well it was clean enough thankfully , but you had to sit on it sideways (!) as it was positioned so tight up beside the radiator.
Breakfast was very poor compared to other visits. Pub area felt a bit shabby and dirty.
We had an evening meal and it was very overpriced.
Staff were all friendly and nice but it's such a shame that a hotel with so much potential is being run into the ground.
We paid £124 via booking com and l would definitely not pay anymore than that for a room.
Location is beautiful however, across from the lovely Velvet Strand and a nice walk into Malahide also.

Room Tip: Don't pay over the odds, this is a really basic hotel with quite outdated rooms.

After an invigorating walk on the fabulous Velvet Strand it was time for lunch and here was convenient.
It wasn’t overly busy and so took immediate seats. Had the pasta dish plus hake in beer batter with fries. All tasty.
Then ordered dessert that didn’t arrive. Reminded staff of this and goodies eventually were delivered literally a few minutes before expiry of car park ticket.
Speaking of which, the server said as we were leaving that car park charge could have been waived given our custom. But this was at variance with the response at Reception earlier to this exact query.

I was in the restaurant last Oct and wrote a very good review but I'm afraid quality of food has dropped. I ordered duck spring rolls which were overdone and didn't taste like duck. The waiting staff are excellent and very friendly. The heating was off and it was freezing, taken me ages to get the heat back into me. Afraid this time I was really disappointed.

Arrived yesterday at 4pm. Quick check in no problem. Room was small and stuffy. No bottled water in the room as advertised in the welcome pack. Found black hairs in the bath. Lots of marks and scapes on the walls.
Had something to eat in the oasis bar. We all had toasties but it took ages for them to come out.
Organised a taxi to go to the concert. We were instructed to ring him after it to collect us. We rang multiple times but he’s phone was off. Rang the hotel to see could they help us they told us to just wait. They were no help.
In general it’s a run down hotel for the price we paid for 1 night it was 300 per room. Location was lovely that was the only good thing

Myself and my friend called in Fri afternoon for a meal (4 Oct) We had a table at the window looking out at the sea. The girl that served us went out of her way to oblige, even down to scanning the barcode for parking as I wasn't sure how to do it. Food was presented beautifully, piping hot and fast, delicious! Had a lovely afternoon. Wish I'd have got the waitresses name because she was brilliant.

We went for lunch after walking the beach. It was very disappointing. The menu was very limited for dietary requirements. The waitress was dismissive and entirely unaccommodating when asked if any adjustments could be made to any of the dishes.
If there were any other options for food in the area, this place would be out of business given its terrible customer service.

Beautiful day for a stroll on the beach before lunch at this place .. BIG MISTAKE
we returned from a 20 minute stroll to discover we had been clamped and had to pay a whopping €125 charge. When we complained to the manager he shrugged and said we should have told them beforehand !! The warning signage in the area we parked was down a lane way and another partially hidden behind a bush .

I booked the White Sands Hotel for a base for our crew while filming a small film on the beach over one long day. There wasnt anything the hotel couldnt provide for us. Our crew of 12 had our breakfast and lunch there which were delicious. Our meeting space on the ground floor just off reception was exactly what we needed. The staff were so incredibly friendly. Myself and my daughter stayed over the night before and the room was great. Thank you to the team at the hotel again for looking after us so well

have to say location is fantastic BUT the hotel itself is in need of an upgrade the room we had was tidy in itself but the bathroom was not water seeping from the base of the toilet (not a nice colour) hairs in the bath/shower which looked as though it hadn't been cleaned. We booked dinner and breakfast next day,my wife had fish and chips it was cold in the middle they apologised and sent another out which was then overcooked, breakfast was passable. I cannot fault the staff they were all very pleasant and attentive in these trying times. My daughter and husband + 7month old child were in the room next to us and said crisp packet underneath the bed again obvious not very tidy. Definitely not worth what we paid for. Fra,

Hi, I am afraid that we do not have this service. However, Dublin Bus (Public Bus service) No. 102 goes from the airport to a bus stop right in front of the hotel should you require it.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other queries.
Kind regards,
Catherine Breslin
Portmarnock Links is about a 5minute walk from the hotel but in no way affiliated with the hotel, polar opposites in terms of stature albeit the hotel isn’t that bad, good for a pint and food.
If I remember correctly I think there is one in the room

Malahide is very small, as far as I know, there are no Pubs that have over night accommodation.
Best to try for a B&B in Malahide
