Detailed Reviews

Some friends and myself stayed here recently with the spa relaxation package priced at €160 which included overnight stay, breakfast a spa treatment and dinner. Very good value. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel and spa. Every staff member was so friendly and made us feel so welcome and comfortable. The pool was lovely, quite and clean, robes and towels provided, we didn’t need to ask or want for anything. Thankfully the weather was on our side and we could sit outside for lunch and breakfast the following morning (both of which the food was beautiful for). A bottle of Prosecco for lunch was €44 which I do think is quite expensive. Our only slight issue was with dinner. Perhaps the chef had changed but the quality wasn’t amazing. The soup was quite flavourless, the Brie was oily, our stir fries were beautifully presented however the veg was soft and mushy, and it was all rather bland. My tiramisu was dripping with Marsala when I took a spoonful and my friends chocolate pudding was very dry. The wine (Pinot Grigio) however was gorgeous and as I mentioned before the staff were so friendly, and we had had such a wonderful day we didn’t feel like we wanted to mention the food at dinner and make a deal, as we had eaten it after all. It just could have been improved upon. Having said that, I would absolutely stay again, maybe not for dinner but certainly for lunch and a spa treatment. Our trip was most relaxed and the bedroom was very spacious (family room) and comfortable, the shower was incredible too.

Have just returned from a one night stay in the hotel and will definitely be returning. A quiet hotel in the middle of the countryside. Unfortunately due to circumstances we did not arrive to the hotel until after 6.00 pm and therefore didn’t avail of the leisure facilities as our dinner was booked for 7.30. The food in the restaurant was a bit on the pricy side with a steak costing €46. That said it was beautifully cooked and very tasty. Breakfast was delicious and again cooked beautifully and piping hot. The hospitality was warm and welcoming and Gerry the owner (a character) gave an informed chat about his extensive collection of whiskeys in the whiskey room. The whiskey of course had to be sampled and proved to be a real winner. The hotel is very tastefully done with a lot of lights creating a lovely ambiance in the restaurant and along the corridors to the bedrooms. Bed very comfortable and bedroom adequate although didn’t see any tea/coffee making facilities as advertised. Very clean hotel and as I said I will return again.

After having a cancelled flight with nowhere to stay with 2 small children on the night of the Garth Brooks concert we rang this hotel after a recommendation from a friend. We hadn’t stayed before and they could not have been more accommodating! From start to finish this was one of the loveliest stays we’ve ever had as a family. Every single one of the staff went above and beyond. From the moment Annie took our call she made us feel so welcome and had a room ready for us which was an amazing room with 5 really comfortable beds and extremely clean ensuite. We took the kids swimming in the pool, had some drinks in the sunshine in the beautiful outside area and it was such a great way to decompress after a very stressful start to our trip. We ate in the restaurant that night and could not fault the food, the staff or the surroundings! Delicious home cooked food and friendly faces after the day we had was just what we needed. After checking out the next day and standing in a queue in Dublin airport for another 9 hours we knew we weren’t getting anywhere and as we lived 4 hours away we rang the hotel again and not only did they arrange the same room Gerry the owner kept the kitchen open so that we could eat a proper meal - that kindness alone just blew us away. Gerry and his staff took Irish hospitality to a whole new level! We’ve never experienced a hotel like this it was like staying with family. Anytime we are in Dublin this is where we are staying. Could not recommend this hotel enough. It really is a secret!

I sent email below last Friday after our visit and received no reply.
My friend and I had booked into the spa this morning (3rd November) at 9:45 for the pamper package which includes, 1 hour treatment, one hour use of spa facilities and a 1 course lunch. On arrival we were told the boiler was broken so there was no hot water- so no hot shower and pool would be cold. We were told they did not call us to let us know as we were probably en route. We do not live far from Lusk. I asked then could we just pay for treatment and lunch as we could not really swim and use sauna and steam room if we could not shower after. We were told it would work out more expensive and it was up to what we wanted to do. We decided to go ahead. Our treatments were lovely but the pool was too cold to get in and slightly murky. We also couldn't shower off the oils used during our treatments. I feel that since we did not get the package as described we should have been offered some sort of discount or compensation. I understand we were told of the problems with the spa before proceeding with treatments however it was disappointing as the service was not as described and a call at 9am to explain the situation would have been appreciated so we would have had time to decide if we still wanted to attend.

We stayed on Saturday night at the Airport View. This was probably our 5th stay over time. The hotel is peaceful, the staff are amazing and we love the opportunity to swim in the pool. Ireland were playing in the Rugby World Cup and the match was on the big screen in the Whiskey Room. There was a wonderful atmosphere and we had great craic watching the match with the other guests. The food is always excellent and we really enjoyed our cooked breakfast in the morning. The location of the hotel is excellent and free parking is available on site.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. I had been there for lunch before so I knew it wasn’t a usual hotel style from the outside.
Our room was great, spotlessly clean and a very comfortable bed which was welcomed after my 1st concert rodeo.
The room doors are close together so you do need to be respectful of other guests (which I hope we were). We arrived back late and enjoyed a debrief in the lovely courtyard.
The breakfast was the best I ever had and this is coming from someone who likes nice! It really and truly was a winner.
Staff were so pleasant.
I only had a sneaky leak at the spa and was my nosey head was well received. The smell from the corridor from my room was irresistible. I will be back to experience that with a nice lunch afterwards with my lovely colleague Ciara S who recommended it for a place to stay when enjoying the delights of Malahide Castle.
Thank you Gerry and all your lovely staff

I decided to have a "mums day out" for myself and honesty don't think I could have chosen a better place. I booked a spa package which included access to the pool, sauna and steamroom, a massage and lunch. When I arrived, the atmosphere was so warm and relaxed and I instantly felt at ease. I received the warmest welcome from Tina at the bar who served me the tastiest sticky toffee pudding and red wine. I then headed to the spa area and returned to the bar for my lunch, again served by Tina who treated my like I was an old friend. The whole experience was pure bliss. My only regret was not booking a room to relax in, but I'll be back in the winter for sure! Highly recommend, thank you all for looking after me so well.

The staff at the Airport View Hotel were fantastic. We arrived later in the evening and they stayed until we were checked in. It was a bit disconcerting that there was no staff in the hotel over night. Our room was basic, but comfortable. In the morning we were not able to enjoy the breakfast because they didn't start serving until 0730, and we had to leave the hotel by 0700 to get to the airport in time for our flight. We did have some trouble getting out of the hotel, again because there was no staff there, the door wouldn't open with the code given to us the night before, and we couldn't get the emergency release to pull down. We had a driver coming to get us, he called but the phone just rang. We did find and unlocked door and tried to get out that way, but someone came (Owner/Operator?) and took us back to the front door and opened the door with the emergency release latch, he said it was just difficult to pull.

Response from Gerry Butterly, Owner at Airport View Hotel
Responded 14 May 2023
Hi thank you for your review 😊 .but we would like to let you know our hotel is staffed 24 /7 the fact you dont listen is your problem .when you were booked in you would have been told about our meal times .Our breakfast times are on our web site so the fact you cant have breakfast at 7 o clock when we start at 7.30 that answers your breakfast question. Regarding the door you just did not press the correct button to open the door you did not pay attention to what you were told to exit the hotel .The morning of your departure you were taken care of thats all we have to say, have a nice life 😌 and try to smile when you look in the mirror you will be surprised what comes back to You .gerry 😇

A lovely hotel, so much more than just a convenient hotel near to the airport. This hotel, although small, would make a lovely destination hotel for a spa weekend, family break or simple weekend away. We had a family room for five, a 13 year old and 11 year old twins. Without doubt it was one of the biggest family rooms we have been in, with two proper, comfortable double beds and a lovely single bed, plenty of room to walk around, lots of usb ports and a big wet room style bathroom. The spa was wonderful, a real hidden gem for anyone wanting a lovely spa break or a weekend away with the girls. The pool was lovely, very well run to allow lots of relaxation time, with steam room, sauna and heated recliners. There was an abundance of treatments available also, from pregnancy treatments to lovely massages and exfoliation treatments, as well as the usual eye, foot and nail treatments. The gin and whiskey bars were nicely decorated with an intimate but inviting atmosphere. The staff were also great, so welcoming and genuine and the food was delicious. It is a lovely hotel with a real sense that the people who work there really take pride in their work. A real gem!

Me and my Family stayed here for one night,on Google it is listed as a four star hotel.this is clearly false advertising as it is a 3 star hotel. On the website it is advertised as swimming facilities for children however there is only a small spa pool. The pool was filthy with sand at the bottom of the pool. The laundry basket for wet towels also had black mould in the bottom . The shower in the bedroom en suite also had black mould in the corners. We had to look for someone on arrival and departure as there was no one at the front desk.the owner was pleasant however we will not be returning to this hotel again.

I didn’t have any issues with their internet. I did use video calls with no issues but no movie streaming.
I agree. Gerry & Annie are flexible and do everything they can to make your stay pleasurable. I left my raincoat there and Gerry spent his own money to mail it to me in California. He wouldn't let me pay for it. How many hotels would do that? The whole staff is wonderful! I will be staying there upon arrival and before I leave. The pools and relaxing atmosphere help with jet lag.
Hi, Honestly, I'm not sure. I would ask the hotel. Sorry!
Pat.
