Nestled on a picturesque beachfront, Shoreline Hotel offers a mix of experiences. Guests have called out the comfy beds and scenic views, but some warn of cleanliness issues and maintenance oversights in the rooms. Service at the hotel can be hit or miss, with instances of both warm attentiveness and frustrating delays reported.
Although the hotel's location near the beach and airport is frequently lauded, several travelers find the hotel's value questionable due to overpriced services. Amenities and atmosphere receive praise, but there's room for improvement, especially with the jacuzzi and breakfast offerings.

Spent an overnight here last weekend. We have stayed at this hotel before, and the really big advantage it has is its position on the headland – the cliffs are to the left as you walk out on the patio, and the beautiful sandy beach to the right. Covid protocols were very good here. We booked bed and breakfast with a two-course meal, and a room with a sea view. The sea view didn’t disappoint – the room we got was at the end of the corridor and it meant we had a window on each wall! The room, whilst clean and comfortable, was a bit on the small side, but was sufficient for us for an overnight. We did part of the cliff walk before dinner. Please pay heed to the warning signs about erosion and stay on the path that is safe. Dinner was served in the hotel bar – there is no restaurant here anymore. We ordered White Bait and Caesar Salad for starters, and Chicken Rigatoni and Roast Beef for mains. Food and service were good and despite a few people dining at the same time, social distancing was managed very well. Sleep quality was good, despite being woken at 6.30 a.m. on a Saturday morning by somebody washing the side window! We couldn’t see who it was, but we could definitely see and hear the water rushing through the extended pole and brush. Ridiculous really when guests are staying. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order, and was plentiful, but was by no means hot. After breakfast we went for a walk on the beautiful sandy beach before checking out and heading for home. We enjoyed our overnight stay and have no hesitation in recommend this hotel if you just want a break away. Pay parking has been introduced in the grounds, but it is free for guests – just give your car reg on check in.

We choose The Shoreline Hotel for our last night in the Dublin area as I had enough Choice Privilege points for a free night. Also, the hotel is located less than 20 mins from Dublin airport, which made it convenient the next morning as we were flying out. Pros: Location - on the beach and near the airport. Seems to be located in a quiet neighborhood on a dead end street. You can walk right onto the beach and patio area also looks over the beach as well. Restaurant - we found the food really good and reasonably priced. We found it inviting and the staff friendly. They had a newer bartender, so getting a mixed cocktail at the bar too a bit longer. Check In - was easy and no issues. Also, there is free parking if you have car
Cons: Rooms - we had a balcony room facing the ocean and found the room to be very small and a bit worn. They definitely could upgrade the carpet and the bathroom in our room. Also need an actual key for the room (instead of a key card). This should be upgraded as well. Access to Room - We had to walk through the restaurant/bar area to get to our room, which there should be another access hallway to that side of the hotel.
Overall, this is nice hotel if you want to near the airport or near the beach in the Dublin area. If they do a nice renovation, this would be a wonderful place to stay.

This is a beachside hotel about a 20-minute drive from Dublin airport. The first impression from the outside is that it looks really dated and could do with a renovation. The check-in was smooth, and we stayed in room 116 overlooking the beach, perfect. The room, on the contrary, was modern with an en suite shower, comfortable double bed, couch, and desk. There is a small space to hang your clothes and assume by this that guests only stay a few days at a time here. There are tea and coffee making facilties but no biscuits. I think some bottled water could be added. In terms of food, there is a brasserie and a truck in the beer garden serving a couple of snacks such as toasties. The brasserie has an all-day menu. We didn't have a car, so we had to have all our meals here. They are hotel prices, so a bit on the high side, but there seemed to be a different offer on daily and would take advantage of this. The staff are very friendly, especially the bar girls. Rebecca, in particular, is a gem. The only thing I noticed was that no one was available at the front desk late evening onwards, so I am unsure where you'd get help after hours if needed. Luckily, we didn't need to. Our room phone wasn't working either. It was lovely being next to the beach, and we loved the walk to Portrane along the cliffs. It's also a shame it's not better served by public transport. Especially a shuttle to and from the airport, and Dublin would entice more guests to use it, I'd think. Email communication needs to improve as most times I did not get a reply until I sent reminder ones

Staff are exceptional! In spite of no power after storm Eowyn for one night which meant arriving in the dark (I was given the option to switch to another hotel but I chose to stay) between Janet and Will I was made to feel most welcome and looked after personally. The views are stunning, the beach less than one minute's walk away. The chef has a magic touch, I strongly recommend the goat's cheese salad starter - sublime, and the spiced apple and pear dessert - magnificent. Steaks cooked to perfection too, and breakfast with excellent pastries and beautifully cooked, grease free Irish breakfast. Portions are always on the very generous side. But again, the staff were fantastic, Rachel in the restaurant/bar was brilliant at welcoming us each night to dinner, great banter. I hope I am invited back to work in Dublin again. I have usually stayed in Air B and Bs but this experience has reminded me of what a well run hotel offers - it felt like coming home after work each evening!

Another fabulous stay in the Shoreline! We love the location of this hotel on the beautiful Donabate beach, rooms are great, we had a huge balcony room from where we could listen to the waves as we fell asleep in the comfiest beds. We booked the fabulous value "Girly "Getaway" which I'd highly recommend. We started with a Sparkling Afternoon Tea which was a really generous selection of beautifully presented sandwiches, cakes and scones, tea and coffee and a snipe each of prosecco. The hotel had reserved us a beautiful round table overlooking the sea, where we dined for the duration of our stay. We had beautiful weather, luckily as a long beach walk and a swim was a must to walk of that delicious food! A 2 course dinner was also included and everything we had was outstanding. Service was wonderful from everyone we encountered from start to finish. A tasty breakfast the next morning with a proper coffee necessitated another long beach walk. The lovely receptionist had validated our car park ticket for 2 days so we could have stayed as long as we wanted. Unfortunately one of our party had to work in the afternoon, so we had to tear ourselves away. Outstanding value for a wonderful birthday treat, the three of us cannot wait to return.

We visited the shoreline hotel in April 2024 for a family get together.at first glance the hotel looked lovely with fabulous views of the beach.
We were sat down for our meal in a little area off reception table were set out lovely with a fantastic view of the beach.
The meal was lovely except the beef which was quite chewy!
After the meal we moved into the bar/Restaurant for a couple of drinks, as we hadn’t eaten since earlier we tried to order food just after 8pm but were told the kitchen was closed like seriously 8pm on a Friday evening in a hotel??
We should have been told this on check in but we weren’t if we had we would have made other arrangements we had 4 children that needed to be to fed and 2 Adults with health issues that have to eat at regular intervals to be told the bar had plenty of crisps and nuts was unacceptable especially for children!!
When we walked into our room we thought it was lovely but when you look closer it’s awful, there was dirt on the floor that housekeeping didn’t obviously hadn’t seen the bathroom was awful!
It had a jacuzzi bath my granddaughter was so excited to have a bath in it what a huge disappointment for her when it wouldn’t work! The bath was actually filthy broken definitely needs replacing!
On checkout we tried to raise our issues but fell on deaf ears!
As we were leaving there was a woman cleaning the doors while we tried to go out with our luggage not even an offer to hold the door.
I have been to this hotel at 2 weddings in previous years all I can say is the shoreline has definitely gone downhill!
We will not be back!! I have attached photos of our bathroom.

We celebrated our sons Confirmation at the Shoreline Hotel with four of his friends and their families. The room was so spacious and bright. The events manager Louise O’Reilly could not have more helpful, allowing us to decorate the room with balloons and bring sweet boxes for the children. The tables were set up so that each family was beside each other. Everyone was delighted with the menu, the food was delicious and the waiting staff were very efficient and so friendly. The menu was much better value compared to a couple of other hotels we priced and the staff were far more accommodating too. As the hotel is overlooking the beach, the kids could go down and play there and we got some gorgeous photos of them. It was the perfect location, the adults and children really enjoyed every minute. I would highly recommend the Shoreline for any event or celebration. We will definitely be back.

We stayed here at the end of July 2024. We booked a family garden view room and when we arrived it had a jacuzzi bath which my children were very excited to use. The hotel is in a stunning location beside the beach so we went down there for a while and came back to the room and started running the bath. Water started leaking all over the floor so I rang reception and they said someone would be up straight away but then they rang back to say the maintenance man was away and he’d be back in 15 minutes, by the time he arrived we had emptied the bath and dried the floor so he just told us not to use the bath as he couldn’t fix it while we were in the room. It was nearly 9pm by the time this was sorted so it was too late to ask to be moved to a different room nor was it offered. The noise of children running up and down the corridor screaming kept me awake so I ended up checking reviews on here to see if this was just bad luck or a common occurrence as we’ve stayed here several times over the last few years. To my shock and horror I discovered a review from April 2024 describing the same issue with the bath, the review included pictures so I knew it was the same room as the one we were staying in. Upon looking closely at the pictures while I was standing in the bathroom I noticed a dirty mark on the floor that was still on the floor 3 months later, I gave the mark a light rub with a baby wipe and some of it came away. So the floors hadn’t been cleaned in 3 months nor had the bath been fixed. The information sheet in the bedroom said breakfast started at 7.30 and needed to be booked, when we tried to book we were told that it started at 8 and didn’t need to be booked so we explained what the sheet said and was told someone would get back in touch, no one came back to us so we asked another member of staff and she said it was definitely half 7. When we went down for breakfast we were told we couldn’t order a cooked breakfast until 8am but we could help ourselves to the continental breakfast. I brought all this up to the receptionist and she offered to get a manager but we were already late leaving as we had to wait on the breakfast. I did send an email but I still haven’t had a response. I’ve included photos to show the mark on the floor. The fact the management of this hotel have the nerve to let out rooms that have broken facilities and poor hygiene is disgraceful, they should be embarrassed at the disrespect they have shown for people who spend their hard earned money in their establishment.

We have just returned from 3 nights at the shoreline hotel , I won’t be returning and I wouldn’t recommend it . Hotel is located on a beautiful spot , we booked 3 nights in a sea view balcony room , we were told on arrival that there was a mistake and we would have to go to the garden view room 121 which is right next to the beer garden so had plenty of onlookers , we had to keep the curtains closed . No key given to open the patio doors . Similar experience to another guest we chatted to on departure . With the room not available until the next day we had to unpack , pack and unpack which was vexing and to top this off they told us we would have to check out of our garden room at 12 and couldn’t check in to the sea view room until 3 … seriously there mistake at my inconvenience and an apology is not enough in this situation . No kettles in bedrooms due to covid , there words not mine , Only 2 big towels & 2 small towels per room regardless of how many people were staying , we were 4 people staying and had to ask for fresh towels during our 3 day stay We also had to ask for toilet roll No cleaning of rooms on a 3 night stay due to covid Signs to say to wear masks in public places and this was not enforced at all , I witness a manager not wearing any mask in kitchen area .. So you can’t have a kettle in your room and only two towels but walk around the restaurant as you like with no masks .. basic breakfast food , nothing special , tables were not set appropriately, we had to ask for sugar , had to ask for milk , teaspoons , wait was long for breakfast , our order was served wrong . We got takeaway from the restaurant on the terrace , I ordered fish Gounod with lime mayonnaise , 3 staff I had to ask for the lime mayonnaise . All the young floor staff were courteous , polite and eager to please it just seemed to me they did not have good management/ owners . In my opinion it felt like this hotel used covid to see how much money they could save and make from customers . The rooms are certainly not newly renovated … Small stool on balcony so bring some beach / camping chairs if you would like to enjoy this … Disgusted we paid €410 for 3 nights of rubbish , well done to the young pleasant and friendly staff .

We booked this hotel over five months ago to attend an event. Immediately after booking, they rang us and tried to get us to pay up front which we denied as we had booked a pay on arrival rate. Four days before check-in, we receive an email saying we’ve been cancelled. No explanation in the email and no explanation when we rang them. They claim it’s their right to do so. Clearly, as there is an event on nearby, they are canceling bookings so they can get others in at higher rates. They don’t care that guests have already booked tickets, booked transportation, hired babysitters and have taken time off work. Scammers.

Yes.The rate includes travel to and from the airport. It is a great deal and staff are very friendly and accommodating. Anthony usually drives and he is the best. We also had a drive to and from the local train station when we were there in March. Can't wait to go back to this friendly place.
Hi, you should email the Hotel direct and ask them if you can pre book their shuttle bus? They will require your flight details, , ask them to email you confirmation and also to provide you with vehicle details and name of driver for security purposes ,

The hotel is actually a mile out of Donabate, which has a great rail service (approx 12 minutes into the city) - trains are regular, although are reduced on a Sunday....
(when I was there, the hotel ran a minibus into the village, but a taxi is relatively cheap and it is a comfortable walk - i.e. no hills!!!)
There are more places to choose from in the Donabate area.
