Marina Shores enjoys a scenic location that's both tranquil and convenient, with guests frequently mentioning easy access to nearby attractions and the charm of Main Street. The hotel's amenities and the friendliness of its service often garner positive feedback, but some visitors have pointed out room for improvement in both these areas. While many find the rooms comfortable and appreciate the views, others have raised concerns about their cleanliness and maintenance. In terms of value, opinions are divided, with some guests feeling the experience doesn't justify the cost.

Stayed here with a friend over the weekend. We picked this accommodation as it had the most affordable 2 bedroom apartments for the weekend in Airlie Beach. It's in a pretty good location although you need a car as it's not really in the centre of Airlie which is good because it's pretty quiet.

All of the apartments seem to be privately owned, but the apartment we stayed in had everything one could possibly need which was fabulous.

The biggest downside for us was the apartment was abit old and needed a really good clean (we found an old rice cracker in the couch and one of the cutlery draws in the kitchen stank and there were dirty knives, forks and cups) and it was hard to get food to the hotel without going out and getting it ourselves (there was a magnet for a website called food porter on the fridge when we tried to order from here it appears to have gone out of business and there is no uber eats or menu log - but this is not the fault of the hotel)

Positives to this hotel include its quiet location, great view of marina, heaps of parking, clean tidy grounds and well sized apartments that had all of the amenities one could wish for. Also worth noting there was a large cockatoo that visited the balcony afew times which was awesome.

Overall would stay here again.

We had booked 2 x 2 bedroom units. My son and his family unlocked their door and the unit was a mess, wet towels and rubbish on the floors, dirty sheets on beds and on the floor, dirt dishes on the sinks an. Bathrooms were a mess. Second bedroom carpet was saturated and stunk. Jeff reffed to change the room saying the resort was full but checking with other staff revealed that there were several empty rooms. He gave my son beach towels and told him to suck up the water. Opened my door to the penthouse and first impressions were great. However once stepping inside it wasn’t hard to see that cleaning was not high on the agenda at Marina Shores. There was a rancid smell coming from the kitchen and we discovered the dishwasher had roughly 2 inches of filthy rancid water in it. I went downstairs to tell Jeff and his response was “I know, just close it and don’t use it”, well no chance of that Jeff as it was busted!! Electric bbq on the balcony did not work, we borrowed a cord from another apartment. View is spectacular but if you want cleanliness and working appliance and looking for what you pay for then don’t stay here. Another guest at checkout asked for an extra towel, Jeff refused and was quite arrogant and rude about the request. Not at all even 3 star service. Pool area was great and well maintained. Rest of the place filthy. I asked Jeff if he would like to see photos of the dirty unit but he was not interested. Very dismissive owner.

I stayed here for 4 nights and had no issues. Place is clean and smells nice when i got in. It was a 1 bedroom garden view apartment. Had everything I needed.
Its a good 20 minutes walk to the town centre so if you don’t want the noise, stay here. If you don’t wan’t to walk, you can always call a cab for $7 to the town centre.

The views were stunning from the balcony but the room was not worth the money we paid for it - it wasn't horrible, but it also wasn't worth the 5 stars alot of websites are claiming.

Our room smelt of mould as soon as we walked in and continued to smell all weekend, despite opening all of the doors for a few hours. Turns out it was coming from the bathroom/wardrobe so we had to keep those doors closed at all times to trap the smell.

The whole apartment just felt unclean and in need of basic maintenance. There was bad scum in the toilet bowl and the seat looked dirty. The shower had soap scum everywhere. Even the shabby corduroy couch and TV remote controls looked and felt dirty. We're not ones to complain but when you're paying that much for accommodation claiming to be 5 stars, you expect it to be cleaner than it was.

The apartment had shabby furnishings throughout which was nothing like the advertised photos. It's also not very well sound proofed and we were woken up every morning at 5am from the family above us, walking around and with loud children.

Some positives though...the grounds are well maintained, the apartment was fully self contained, the office staff were friendly, the view from the balcony was nice, the boardwalk was nice, free undercover parking, free WiFi (although we didn't use it), free foxtel, it's only a $10 cab fare to the CBD, the pool had a shadecloth.

Overall, we won't be staying here again unless the price drops a lot.

Extremely disappointed in the cleanliness and service with marina shores. I read some negative reviews online after I book so thought I would give them a phone call to discuss the condition of the room and was assured that the room would be in great condition and have nothing to worry about. When we arrived the room was filthy with dead bugs, dust, ants, soap grime all over the shower screen, food and dirt all over the floors, the cooking items and oven were disgusting and just a top sheet on the bed. The first night I woke to have ants through the food in the cupboard so had to throw the food out. The sun lounge was broken and requested to have that fixed, the room cleaned and be reimbursed for some of the money paid. Was told by management that I would be reimbursed some off my booking fee but never happened. People came to look at the room and were extremely rude about having to make an effort to clean the room. I wish I had canceled my booking and stayed elsewhere. I would not recommend Marina Shores at all. I would definitely look elsewhere. There was no effort and pride put into the presentation of the room and was very disappointed with little effort to rectify it. Would never stay there at Marina Shores again. The pictures are fantastic on the website but the condition of the rooms are nothing like it. I’ll say it again, Very disappointed 😞

We stayed for two nights at this accommodation. The rooms didn't have the view that was depicted in the pictures. Im not sure if it was outdated pictures or maybe the nice apartments weren't available but we found it strange that all the marina view pictures on the website didn't match the unit. The apartments with the views seemed to be residents. When we arrived there was shampoo and conditioner opened in the bathroom as well as half opened milk in the fridge. This didn't fill us with confidence that the apartment had been properly cleaned after the last guests were there and with a young child this was a concern. There is alot of accommodation around this price in the area and considering our experience we will be looking elsewhere in the future.

This was a very ordinary room for what we paid. The room was not ready when we arrived, though the lady behind the counter was very lovely. Once in the room it did not match the photos we saw on the website. The bathroom was far far too small and not very clean, you could not open the shower door fully because the toilet was in the way, if you were a large person you would struggle to get in the shower it was so bad. There was no point to the tv as there were no channels, no normal antenna or a Foxtel box but nothing worked at all. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher. The bed was so uncomfortable that neither of us could sleep - I had to hold the edge to not fall into my husband. We had to keep the door shut and curtains closed for privacy because our room was so close to the public boardwalk - people stopped to chat as they walked past. When we asked about another room we were told they were all the same, the only compensation we were given was a bottle of wine because the room wasn't ready on time (it is literally a $4 bottle in the local bottle shop).

Booked a 2 bedroom penthouse for 5 nights in November and was looking to the 5 star that had given it. On Arrival location was great, friendly lady at check-in and let us check in early due to our flight, grounds are well kept and views are amazing. That is were it ends, paying a premium price and thinking a penthouse, all the furniture carpet looks original when it was built years ago nothing is maintained all dirty. The roof top deck not usable in summer period due to extreme heat there is no cover or shade up there to even use it. The balcony on main area was ok. The second bedroom set up a king beds ok but I have been in bigger inside cabins on a cruise ship that had more space, there is not table to put your phone or anyone on a table as nothing fits at the sides of bed, not block out shade so there brick glass wall that lets the light in from outside, also similar to master bedroom light shines in. The carpets in the bedrooms are fully stained, the ensuite to the second bedroom is not attached and its about the size of a closet. The drain in there all you could smell is sewer gas. Kitchen is bid, the lounge chairs leather as so uncomfortable all cracked and just dirty, needs an entire paint job, and full clean, walls, door jams even the mop is cheap budget / rusted and dirty. If you want a pool towel that will cost you $5 to hire, never been anywhere in the world at resort or hotel that charges for pool towel. Overpriced and not 5 star

Coming from Brisbane this was our first trip to Airlie my partner and I very excited. From the moment we got here problems we were late to check in, So we had to ring a number from reception to help us check in and get our keys. No answer for a long time left us waiting outside reception. Then the room amazing view stunning looking over the water. The room was extremely dirty , soap scum all over the dirty shower, inside the shower Mould all over it. Dirty bath , dirty kitchen. Dead bugs under the microwave causing ants. Food or rubbish under the sink plugs. Dirty crockery. Extremely dirty lounge. We went shopping and my partner bought all cleaning chemicals so she could clean the whole place , she cleaned the shower all the kitchen , swept the floor and mopped. She said the next people to stay in 134 should have a clean room. Tried to wash our clothes washing machine was not working properly. Extremely disappointed with our room at marina shores will not be back. Will 100% be back to Airlie was an amazing place.

I was beyond disappointed with the stay in Apartment 102.

We’ve all been impacted by the pandemic but given the closure period this would have been the opportunity to deep clean this apartment. the weekend manager tried to tell us that it’s dirtier than usual because there was a long stay booking prior to us checking in . That is no concern of ours, we expect to stay somewhere clean and nice. My expectation during Covid was this place would be so clean, but this apartment was filthy from months and months of build up.

I booked this for my Mum as a birthday present and I joined her last Friday.

These apartments are not five star as claimed and when my mother and I tried to have the problems resolved nothing was done. The weekend manager tried to get a cleaner on Saturday and Sunday. Apparently the microwave was cleaned which doesn’t address any of the issues noted below and was pointless given we were leaving the next day. I asked for a new apartment as was told no.

Curtains were difficult to open/close- to the point I though they would come down if we tried to move them.

Rubbish bin dirty and broken. It’s a cheap plastic bin that was ridiculous.

Furniture dirty and dusty. Dust everywhere. There were two metal ornamental boats sitting on the bench that were so thick with dust I don’t know how this could be ignored so blatantly.

Filthy bench top with cooking and coffee splatters and old bits of food dried on the bench.

Dishwasher smelt terrible and on inspection found the filter to be full of gross stuff.

All dishes were dirty and smeared. The cutlery in the top draw rusty.

One dusty blanket provided and it was not on the bed.

No bath mat provided and had to request twice before we got one.

Bathtub had other people’s hair laying in the bottom of it.

Shower covered in lime scale (white vinegar is a cheap solution)

Floors dusty and bits of dirt around the bottom of bench.

No cable tv as advertised.

Coffee machine had no pods or information the guest needing to purchase them.

There was also no information about the property, local area or how to get help if needed.

There is also no place to drop keys when leaving before your reception opens. We locked the keys in the room as this was the only appropriate action we could take.
