The Premier Inn Carrickfergus Hotel is recognized for its clean, comfortable rooms and commendable service, with staff members often described as helpful and friendly. While many guests are pleased with the hotel's convenient location, close to tourist attractions, some have expressed concerns over additional charges for amenities like early check-in and faster Wi-Fi. Despite these issues, the overall cleanliness and family-friendly nature of the hotel continue to make it a popular choice among travelers.

Our allocated room was over the back of the Brewers Fayre restaurant as well as it's noisy & smelly extraction unit. After requesting an alternative room when going out to eat elsewhere, I was told there were very limited alternatives but that if any cancellations came through Georgina would reserve it for us. Luckily one did & a handwritten note was left with chocolate, hoping that this room met our requirements. We've stayed at upscale hotels and not received such great customer service!

Stayed for 4 nights over Christmas while visiting our daughter. Usual Premier Inn standard - comfy bed, pillows & bedding. Spotless room & bathroom. Very pleasant staff. If I had any slightly negative comment it was that the windows were a wee bit draughty but this did not detract from our stay.

The rooms were spotless, corridors quiet and the breakfast was varied and hot foods better cooked than hotels treble the price.
The staff went out their way. So friendly. When my wee boy took unwell, they bought him sweets. They even had a Hallow'een gathering for the kids, as well as a soft play, not something you normally get in anonymous chain hotels.

We will be staying here again.

If you're with EE or O2, prepared to have virtually no phone reception or Internet access.

Absolutely hate this place, I'm staying here for work, location is lousy, right next to a harbour, where the dinging of the boat masts keeps you up all hours, as the windows don't offer any reduction in the outside noise.

Food is dependent on who is doing the microwaving and grilling. Sometimes it's okay, sometimes it's bad. Food service is not great, past few nights the staff taking the order has completely screwed up my order, even changing my dessert to an item I don't like.

Depending on what staff are working, you can often have LONG times between courses.

Rooms are okay, but getting a little dated and rough round the edges. The HDMI socket in my room doesn't connect to the tv and trying to use the one on the side of the TV, is a feat in itself, as there's not much room between the TV and the wall.

Heating only in the room, is controlled by a plug in electric heater in the corner of the room - which weirdly enough, the central heating module controls, but you can only heat your room. Good luck trying to cool your room, you get a small desktop fan as the only means of doing this.

Luckily I'll only be here for the next week, was previously staying for the last 5-6mths at the Premier Inn at Lisburn, total contrast to this place.

No doubt this place is lovely in the warmer climate due to its location, but as I had to stay here over Christmas I was already dreading this move, when it was first put to us that'd we'd finish our stay at this lousy hotel.

Definitely not impressed.

As a family stayed here for a night on 27-Dec. On positive experiences, the location of the hotel is surrounded with lot of options which is good, the rooms were clean.
The only concern was on service. WiFi signal was absolutely zero in the room, mobile data signal was also almost zero in that room (ground floor 14). The person at reception suggested to use internet at restaurant or reception. Internet connection is a basic need inside the room, to leisurely browse for things around or take rest while watching online shows. Not sure why I have to go all the way to reception or restaurant for internet access while paid for my stay!

My only problem with the Premier Inn Carrickfergus, was that its free WiFi was practically unusable every day. It was unacceptably slow and I had to terminate many attempted accesses to websites. They do offer a faster WiFi link, but unlike many other organisations, you have to pay for it. They have deliberately downgraded their free WiFi broadband connection to force their visitors to use their premium charges WiFi service. Have stayed there before, their free WiFi service was great.

We stayed in Carrickfergus for two nights as part of a trip to Ireland. It was very conveniently located with lots of parking. There is a supermarket and places to eat and drink within easy walking distance and it was an easy trip to visit Belfast. Our room had a great view of the castle and the harbour. As you expect from Premier Inn, the bed was large, comfortable and had good quality sheets. There was plenty hot water for showers and baths and there was easy access to additional coffee, tea and milk. The staff on reception were friendly and efficient.

We’re just about to check out after a wonderful 7 night stay. The staff were all so friendly and went above and beyond for us all week- a special mention to Andrea, who our daughter loved chatting to every day. We received chocolate selection boxes on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and our room was cleaned even though they were short staffed. Honestly cannot praise the service of this hotel enough. Lovely breakfast too!

Claire on reception was fantastic, exceptional customer service from her. Whilst rooms are very clean and functional, if you stay in the older part it does feel a bit like a care home. If you are lucky enough to be in the newer part you will have a different experience. Restaurant needs a bit of focus. Meals are from a spec sheet, heated in a microwave and do not represent what is advertised on the menus provided. Staff are very new and inexperienced in the restaurant and need training to understand what service means. Not a good sign when a hotel blames brexit and staff shortages on the failings of providing a decent level of service. We have stayed here so many times over the years and this is the first time the whole family of all ages was disappointed. If you can't provide a restaurant service, turn the Brewers Fayre area into a coffee and lite bites instead to take the pressure off and manage customer expectations. Shame the experience was not where it needs to be as the location is perfect directly opposite Carrick Castle and Harbour.

Hotel and facilities good for the price. Only complaint was that we weren’t told on checkin on 23rd or later that breakfast finished early on Christmas Day and Boxing Day so arrived at10 thinking had 30 minutes to be told buffet was being taken away as they had quick turnaround for Xmas dinner Many people had same problem on Boxing Day so had to keep it open to 10.30. Staff that day at least pleasant about it but on Xmas day were not. As
Breakfast booked and paid for
Separately on booking could give different times then or information in room or a notice in reception. Our ticket with room key gave the normal times.

I’m sure there is John. The girls on the desk or in Brewers Fayre restaurant could help you as they are all locals. If you’re worried I would ring them beforehand just to make sure. I’m sure they’d be happy to help
